43.33% Angel of Destruction (DxD) / Chapter 12: Of Excommunications, Revelations and Decisions

Kapitel 12: Of Excommunications, Revelations and Decisions

„Haaah, I thought they would never stop with they endless questions." Ezekiel complained.

"Haha, Zeke. Don't start whining when it is only the first day. You won't make it far like this." Jeanne quipped from beside him.

Her attitude made it easier to bond with others without getting annoyed. She understood where Ezekiel was coming from however. Most of their class were females and they were naturally curious. On the other hand, Ezekiel was far more mature due to the company he normally kept and his responsibilities as Seraph.

"What have you planned for today Ezekiel?" Jeanne asked.

"I thought to have a talk with the nun we saw after our arrival yesterday. Somehow, I got a bad feeling about the people around her. It doesn't make any sense for her to be with them." He replied while falling in thought.

Jeanne nodded as she agreed with Ezekiel. Most of them were fallen angels and stray exorcists. That girl seemed just too innocent to be involved with that kind of people.

Meanwhile Abelia arrived back at home. Instead of going inside her house, she walked to the back into the garden and laid down into the grass. Instantly many different animals started to appear and climb all around her.

"Why does he look so familiar. I am sure I have seen that man somewhere." She mumbled to herself.

"What are you playing at mother, I doubt it was a coincidence you sent me over here. Maybe I should have a talk with him and just ask him where I might know him from. But then again he felt just like a normal human." She thought about her next course of action but was still unsure.

Asia Argento was a young nun with long blond hair. Currently she was shopping for groceries, since one of the fallen angels told her to do so. As she was carrying two bags that were clearly too heavy for her, one of them ripped at the handle and most of its contents rolled onto the street. Just as she was going to grab her purchases, she heard a voice.

"Let me help you with that." Ezekiel said while squatting down and helping her pick up her foodstuff.

"Thank you very much sir." Asia smiled before looking for any fruits that might have rolled farther away.

"How about I help you carrying you purchases, seeing that your bag wont work anymore?" Ezekiel asked kindly.

"I wouldn't want to burde.." Asia was interrupted by Ezekiel.

"Don't worry about it, I have nothing else to do at the moment." Ezekiel shrugged off her concerns and stood up, waiting for her to walk.

"Judging by your attire, you are working for the church?" Ezekiel asked.

A sad look came over her features and she took a moment before replying: "I am living at the local church at the moment, but I am currently not working for the church."

"You are not? What happened, if you don't mind me asking?" He replied, while walking.

A few steps later he noticed she wasn't following him anymore. As he turned back he saw her sad expression as tears threatened to leak from her eyes.

"I..I..they said I am not welcome there and that I am.." she stuttered, unable to properly finish her sentence.

Ezekiel sighed. It seems she went through a lot and his plan of a simple conversation wouldn't happen anymore.

"Come with me." Ezekiel said before walking off into the direction of the park.

Asia was unsure what to do. He was a stranger, but she always had the belief of seeing the best in people. She somehow felt it was a good idea to trust him. That and the fact that he still carried half of her groceries. In the end she decided to follow him.

After ten minutes of silent walking they arrived in a secluded area of the park and sat down on a bench.

"Alright now, it seems you have a lot on your heart. Feel free to let it out, I will listen." Ezekiel urged her with a gentle smile.

She somehow felt that she could trust him. Why that is? She didn't know. Unnoticed to her, he let the tiniest bit of his holy power leak. For a person with a strong belief it was a calming feeling.

Since she bottled up quite a lot in the past years, she began to tell him everything about herself.

She told him about her name and that her mother abandoned her in front of the church where she grew up.

She told him how she managed to awaken a mysterious power capable of healing the injured.

She told him about her becoming a holy maiden because of her powers. But because of these powers she was shunned and didn't manage to make even one friend.

Later she found an injured person lying close to the church and healed him without hesitation. What she didn't know was that he was a devil. She told him how she was labelled as a witch and of her banishment from the church as a result.

She told him about how she didn't know what to do afterwards and only a few fallen angels and other banished priests and exorcists took her in for her to heal them.

With every new thing she told him Ezekiel's anger and rage began to rise. He could clearly feel her emotions that were in disarray, her sadness, her fear and her loneliness. Right now, he felt like bashing a priest or two to a pulp. And Jesus, what is Michael doing. Even if he is bad at managing God's system, there had to be limits to his inability. She was only a little girl and deserved nothing of the treatment she received, of the bad cards she was dealt in her life. As she began to sob next to him, he forgot his bad feelings for the moment, but promised himself to look into it. Especially the story about the devil.

"Alright come here. I promise something like this won't happen again." Ezekiel said as he gave her a light but comforting hug.

Asia was a little confused now. In her ranting she didn't even realise she told him far too much about the supernatural world. She instantly forgot her sobbing and took a small distance to get a look at him. What she saw surprised her. He was only showing a sad smile. It was as if he already knew about the supernatural. Could it be?

Ezekiel chuckled a little seeing her change in demeanour. He could imagine what was occurring in her mind at the moment.

"Say Asia, can you keep a secret?" Ezekiel asked, already knowing her answer.

Seeing her nod stiffly he conjured a barrier around them that would contain every energy or aura that could be spotted or felt farther away. Shortly after his aura started rising and he spread 12 majestic golden wings from his back.

"Let me introduce myself. I am Ezekiel, son of Jequn and Shiva and the youngest Seraph of heaven." He smirked lightly while introducing himself. It really was liberating not to hide who you are.

'Soon' he thought, soon he wouldn't have to hide anymore. He already grew far stronger that only certain people would pose a challenge and he would welcome every one of them.

Meanwhile Asia's eyes widened to the extreme and she stood there slack jawed. She just talked with a Seraph? Now that was something she didn't expect. She immediately fell on her knees, with her hands in position for a prayer.

"Stop that, there is no need to kneel." Ezekiel quickly helped her up.

"I will lift your banishment from the church. If you want it, that is." He said to her.

"Yes! Thank you very much Sir Seraph." She replied instantly. Now that was a ridiculous change in emotions.

"Alright, please just call me Ezekiel." Ezekiel sighed, he really needed a way to avoid something like that in the future.

"More importantly, I will investigate who was responsible for your banishment. As for your current living arrangements, you won't stay with these people anymore. I will have you stay with a friend of mine for the time being if that is acceptable." He explained after he was sure she was listening.

"Thank you Sir Sera..Ezekiel. But please have mercy on the priests and priestesses." Asia answered. Truly she was too good for this world. She even pleaded for people that were this cruel to her.

"I will see what I can do. Just promise me to keep my secret for a while." He said and picked up the groceries again while retracting his aura and wings.

"Let's go" he said and began to walk off after dispelling the barrier. Asia quickly picked up her stuff and ran after him

And so began a new chapter in the life or Asia Argento, the holy maiden.
