Kapitel 102: Cool Off

[Adrian's POV]

It was an honest slip of the tongue. He didn't mean to call Rhia by their terms of endearment in front of Johan. But then, Adrian had addressed Rhia as Babe for five years that his mouth uttered it without a second thought. His Adam's apple bobbed as he gulped the growing lump in his throat.

"Where are you?" Rhia asked, suspicion laced in her voice.

"Ah..." Blood thundered in Adrian's veins, his ribs about to shatter at the intensity of his heartbeat. Johan's expectant gaze never left him, and Adrian didn't know what to do.

Shit.

Adrian felt like he's in a courtroom, with Johan sat on the judge's seat. Drop the call and he will get more suspicious. Keep talking and he might ruin himself with his own words.

"Babe?"

Adrian considered stepping outside for privacy, but he changed his mind when Johan's face darkened. He cleared his throat. "Why are you calling in my sister's number?"
