As soon as Colonel Kaminski was released from sickbay, she received a request from the captain to meet in his briefing room. Despite the Doctor's orders to go straight to her quarters to rest, she knew that the captain wouldn't call for her unless it was important. Out of the recovery bed, the pain in her side became much more evident, but she refused to let it show on her face or slow her down. Fortunately, the moving walkways and lifts allowed her to minimize the number of steps she had to take, making it possible to walk the distance without ripping up her insides.
As Kaminski walked into the conference room, she expected to see at least the tactical staff, but it was only Captain Roche. He stood as she entered the room and waited for her to take a seat at the table before getting down to business. "I heard about your injury. How are you feeling?"
Kaminski smiled against the pain. "Better than the Doctor would have you believe. I'll just need a good night's sleep."
