Kapitel 23: Chapter 23

"Oh no", Sophie thought.

Emma feigned offense: “Of course not, young man! I have nothing to do with any infected. How dare you?” .

It was so convincing that for a moment even Sophie believed her.

But the man seemed confident: “Yes, you are! I thought I recognized you before, in front of my door, but now I'm certain.”

Unfortunately, his shouting had attracted the attention of some other people, who now stared at them, some curious, some worried. Some promptly scuttled away, and Sophie had the distinct impression that they were going to warn the medical police.

It was better to leave as soon as possible.

”Emma, let’s go,” she ordered, taking the old lady by the arm and dragging her away.

“Where do you think you’re going?“ the man with the tartan jacket protested, following them. The others, thankfully, seemed reluctant to follow his example.

Sophie quickened her pace, forcing Emma to do the same. The old woman was panting, but they could not slow down.
