Kapitel 29: Chapter 29

Jim and the rest of the officers had been over both houses and looked at everything more times than they could count. They had plenty of evidence of Jack's crimes, but nothing to show who had killed David. The neighbours thought back and said they remembered Jack visiting David a lot, sometimes until late at night. That would be an explanation for Jack's truck in the drive. It would also mean that he could go out the back door or through the tunnel, and the neighbours would swear Jack was visiting his good friend David Collins.

One neighbour had a bonus. Their son was visiting home after getting a job in Fort McMurray. The son remembered seeing the truck parked in the drive late on the night of the dance. He'd thought about going over to say hello to his coach, but he'd heard rumours that David Collins was gay.

"I just didn't think I could deal with the idea of them in bed," the young man said, "It wasn't that they were gay, but they were both my teachers."
