Kapitel 41: Not Enough

The young immortal arrived at the back of the mansion. He walked towards a tree as he forced himself not to cry out of frustration.

"Damn! Damn it!"

He shouted in frustration as he punched numerous times the large pine tree's trunk, making the pine needles and some pine cones fall on the ground.

'I'm so useless!'

Arvid's knuckles started bleeding. Drops of his blood touched the green grass making them red as his eyes were bloodshot, forcing himself not to release his angry tears.

The moment he remembered the event when he couldn't protect Angeal, the girl whom he finds precious, his blood boiled. He was not only angry at their master... but he was especially angry at himself.

The young immortal was confident of himself. He had been training under his father since he was young. He could already fight at an early age and as he grew, he felt satisfied with his progress, knowing that he could protect the girl he loves!

But the event today proved him wrong. It was not enough.

He was not enough.

"Damn!"

Despite his knuckles bleeding and tingling, he punched the trunk of the tree numerous times again, making it bleed more.

Edwin who just came at the scene, magically appeared in front of the tree, making his son punch his father hard on the chest. Edwin flinched a little when he received the punch, but his face still remained emotionless.

"You're weak."

Arvid angrily looked at his father and started attacking him, channeling his anger towards the experienced immortal.

'You don't have to tell me, old geezer!'

Unfazed, Edwin kept dodging and blocking the series of kicks and punches his son kept giving him. When his son spun around for a charged kick, Edwin saw an opening and with just one punch, he sent his son flying, his back hitting the hard trunk of the pine tree behind him.

"Argh!"

Arvid, the young immortal, winced in pain as he stood up slowly, panting, watching his father walk slowly towards him.

"You call yourself a fighter?"

Arvid's eyes looked angry the moment he heard the remark of his father. When Edwin was one meter away from his son, he stopped in front of him, giving him a condescending look.

"You are the son of The Unmovable God. And you fight like a wimp!"

When Arvid heard that, he shot him a look he never gave his father.

It was a look wishing for him to be silent.

"Then I guess I should've died with my mom when she gave birth to me!"

The moment Edwin heard this, his blood boiled. He grabbed his son by the collar and hit his head against his son's forehead, making Arvid's head bleed. Their eyes met, then The Unmovable God spoke, his voice emphasizing the power and anger he held in each word.

"Never wish for your death when your mother gave her life for yours!"

Arvid shoved his father, releasing himself from his hold. The two of them stood still, not avoiding each other's gaze.

"Calm yourself, son," Edwin now said, sounding concerned after he just provoked his son, making Arvid scoff.

"After telling me I'm weak? I already know I am," he mumbled to himself as he sat on the ground, leaning his back on the tree trunk, still feeling frustrated about himself. His father sighed, then sat in front of him in an Indian sit.

"You do know why I am doing this, son," he said and Arvid pretended not to hear anything.

Of course... he knew well why his father did that. He provoked him because he wanted him to look at himself and improve. He wanted him to push himself to the limit. He wanted him to realize that what he knows now is not enough. He wanted him to realize all these things... in order for such incidents not to happen again.

Arvid knew his father provoked him... so he could be serious with himself and not regret a lot of things later.

The young immortal hesitatingly looked at his father, feeling slightly embarrassed.

"Am I... too weak," he asked, a little hesitant, but his father smirked.

"You are," he answered and it made the boy look at him with annoyed eyes. Edwin chuckled as he playfully ruffled his son's hair, making Arvid brush his hand off.

"I am no kid," he said under his breath, and this made his father laugh at him more.

"Son, look at me," he instructed and Arvid looked at him. "You are weak now... you are strong, and will be invincible later," he added and he gave his son a genuine smile.

Arvid looked at his father, feeling slightly happy that he was encouraged.

He looked up to him since he was a child and seeing how he fought a while ago made him think of the challenges his father went through for him to be this strong to fight against their master.

As he grew, he realized he didn't know much about his father and he didn't know much about the strength he possessed. Now that this happened, he realized that he had to step up his game in order for him to match up to him.

Or even be better than him.

Feeling slightly embarrassed, he avoided his father's gaze then spoke.

"Teach me more later. Make my training difficult," he requested. Feeling satisfied with his son's statement, Edwin nodded, accepting his son's request.

"So you could protect Angeal, huh," he said teasingly, making the young immortal look at him. "What? You love her, don't you—"

Edwin was interrupted by his son's sudden punch on his chest, even surprising his father. He didn't even expect it, he was literally taken aback by his son's sudden attack!

"Don't say anything, dad," Arvid said snappily, his face flushed red.

Edwin then had a hearty laugh as he looked at the embarrassed face his son portrayed then thought of something.

'Teasing might be a good way to train this young one!'
