Kapitel 117: Breathe

I slowly open my eyes and realize that we're still in the field but it's no longer raining. I blink and lift my head but when I move, Thane tightens his hold. My heart hurts for him as I lift my hands and hug him back. I feel a shudder run through him before he leans back with red-rimmed eyes.

The sun was starting to come up but the clouds were blocking it. He slowly unlocks his arms and reaches up to my face with a pained expression before whispering "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." I open my mouth to speak but nothing comes out.

My face crumbles as I look down, defeated. He raises my face up to him and says "We'll find a way to cure this. We'll find a way to get your voice back... no matter what. I want to... No, I need to hear your voice again. I need you to call my name again."

I slowly nod my head but I won't hold my breath. This might be my new reality... I need to accept it. The sooner I do, the sooner others can as well.
