Kalen walks back into the base with irritation and hostility rolling off him. He nearly breaks the door as he shoves his office doors open and storms in. He had been punished when she disappeared the first time but he never told his boss that she was still alive.
He should have reported it but... he wanted her for himself. But now there's that monster next to her! He was like a fucking guard dog from hell! He paces back and forth with the feeling of fire running through his veins.
He needs to think of a plan... one that will allow him to snatch her again but she's so much stronger than before. He taps his chin, deep in thought when something finally comes to mind. She was shot and killed!
She was dead for at least two days. If he were to kill her again, he could take her. His mind continues to race with ways to contain her once she's back. Once she comes back to life, he'll need a way to control her.
He starts pacing again when his comlink suddenly goes off. He pauses and looks over to see the one number he wanted to avoid the most. He grits his teeth but knows he can't ignore him. If he does... he's as good as dead.
He braces himself and hits the button to answer the call. He never gets used to the look of his boss... the guy was truly a monster! Suddenly, he blanks. If he were to be honest, his boss and that other guy have similar traits.
"What happened to the pick-up?" A deep voice asks, instantly breaking Kalen out of his thoughts. He silently curses as he gives his boss a strained smile and says "We ran into a problem." His boss continues to stare at him and lifts a single eyebrow in question.
Kalen nervously licks his lips and says "I ran into a woman and a man who... who are extremely powerful. They were protecting the group." His boss narrows his eyes and asks "How many men did you lose?" Kalen wants to curse as he grits out "The whole group..."
His boss slowly sits up and leans forward as he tilts his head and says "So you're telling me thirty of our men were killed by these two and you're the only one that came back?" Kalen feels his heart racing as he nods his head.
His boss stares at him through the screen and even though they're not in the same room, Kalen can feel his skin crawling. His boss suddenly smirks, instantly chilling him to the bone. His boss slightly chuckles but the sound of it was dangerous.
"Kalen... this is quite surprising especially coming from you. This isn't like you..." His boss says with a knowing smile that has Kalen's heart nearly stopping. Kelan ignores the sweat dripping down his back as he says "They... they're different. If I'm not mistaken... they're like... you."
His boss smiles even wider as he slowly nods his head and says "I see. Anything else?" Kalen feels like he's about to pass out as he tries to keep calm. He knows he should report the woman. Tell him it's the same one as before but he bites his tongue until it nearly bleeds.
He shakes his head 'no' and waits with his heart in his throat. His boss gives him a knowing smile before slightly chuckling and saying "I see. I want the woman, Kalen. No mistakes this time." The call ends without another word.
Kalen reaches out and grabs the desk to keep from falling over. He sucks in and tries to calm his racing heart as he tries to figure out why his boss was acting like that. Why was he smiling!? Does he know?? But how?
Kalen looks around his office with wide eyes before looking to the door. No, he never told anyone here about the woman and no one knows who she is. Only him. Unless.... unless his boss has other men working for him that has reported it!
He slams his fist into the desk, freezing the entire thing. He grits his teeth in anger before raising his fist and slamming it down on the desk again. The desk shatters into pieces as his anger continues to grow. He agreed to work for his boss years ago but somewhere along the way, he's no longer working with him... he's working for him.
He's seen just how terrifying that guy can get and he hates being afraid. Not this time. He refuses to give his boss the woman. She will belong to him and to hell with the rest. He's saved plenty over the years and he even has the perfect place to go once he has her.
He slowly straightens himself and pushes his solid white hair back. It's about time he went his separate way and now was the perfect time. He grabs the comlink up off the floor and slips it into his pocket as he steps out of his office.
If this is to play out right, he needs to make sure he has everything in order. He's also going to kill the bastard that's sticking to her side like glue. He just needs to find the right person and only one comes to mind.
The woman was a coldhearted snake but... she had the best skills. She could hit a moving target from any distance, at any angle. Truly the best in the business. He rounds a few more corners, ignoring the questioning looks until he reaches her living courters.
He knocks once and waits. When the door slides open, it reveals a beautiful woman with blood-red hair that reaches down to her full hips. Her red eyes lock onto his and narrow before she asks "What do you want?" He smirks at her clear disdain for him as he says "The boss has a job for you." They've never gotten along and they don't hide the fact.
She raises her eyebrows before sighing and saying "What does he need?" Kalen gives her a dark smile that has her frowning. Kalen steps back an inch before saying "You need to take out two threats. One female, one male."
She looks him up and down with suspicion before saying "Okay, just get me the information. Why are you so excited about this?" Kalen chuckles as he says "I just can't wait to see them both die."
