Kapitel 17: Chapter 17

"So what happened in your school, human?" Amon asked Layla the second she got home from work while squatting down entirely and holding his long scary spear. Looking funny because he's even in his human disguise while wearing a pink flowery apron. Layla could only guess that he tried cooking but failed miserably also because of the stench around the house of burnt meat.

Layla looked at him, which is in the corner of the living room while looking at her with bored eyes. Layla chuckled as she took off her shoes. "Everything is much better now but some fought that made my day horrible because I had to speak with their parents too. It's still not done because before class resumes they'll be asking for me again. How exciting, right? But enough about me. How have you been, guardian?"

Layla purposely excluded the part where there's a new teacher that she hates. She just doesn't feel like sharing that with him. It feels like she's oversharing if she included that part.

Amon looked around, hiding something from her, and shrugged. "Dunno. Everything is fine for me. I've been spending my day trying to figure out how this device works." He told while gesturing at the new cellphone that they have bought the other day just in case Amon needed it and even though Layla already taught him how to use it, he's still confused about it.

Layla walks over to him and slumped on the couch while smiling tiredly at him. "Give me the phone." She says while her hand is out. Amon stood up and sat beside her while putting the phone on her palm.

Amon's face flushed when he realized that he's still wearing the pink apron and to cover up his embarrassment because of his high pride and ego, he growls and folded his arms on his chest like an angry kid, pretending that he's annoyed by everything and that he doesn't realize that he's wearing the apron. Layla looks at him with a tint of amusement in her eyes but just decided to teach him how to use a phone first before teasing him, just to be sure.

Amon listens at first when she was trying to explain but he got distracted when he saw a white stray cat on the window and he hissed at it while Layla sighs tiredly, not wanting to lose patience. "That's just a cat. A harmless animal unless you go start attacking it." She told him after he hissed at it again. "Just stop and listen. Try not to get distracted by any distractions."

Amon slowly looks back at her while making sure that the cat scurried away in fear. Layla continued explaining and after a few moments, he finally knew how to use a phone. Layla sighs deeply after her hard work of trying to keep him focused and watched as Amon uses the phone in delight with shiny and excited eyes but because of the stench of the burnt meat, she couldn't fully relax. She smirked at him. "Did you try to cook, my nice guardian?" She teased him.

Amon's eyes immediately looked at her with a glare and shook his head rapidly. "No. Who do you think I am? Some dumb human? I'm Amon! I don't cook! Especially not just for anyone!" He defended himself and acted in denial, getting more obvious in Layla's eyes. His eyes widened again and quickly stood up while taking off the pink flowery apron.

Layla softly laughs at him. "Sure...you didn't...so you won't mind if I check the kitchen, right?" She stood up and heads to the kitchen but Amon stopped her, stepping in front of her while glaring.

"Stop, human. I'm the guardian here, I'm going to check the kitchen!" He said in a low voice. Layla snorted and looked at him in disbelief.

"Just admit that you tried to cook and failed. It's fine, Amon. I'm glad and happy and nobody's around so no one can judge you completely. Just relax and stop glaring." Layla assured him while hugging him which took him by surprise. Layla was quiet but sighed deeply once again when her arms went wrapping around Amon's large body. She was tired and sad, her mind's all over the place and she just wants to rest but she can't because how can she rest with everything that's going on with her life? She needs love and care of a parent because that's what she's missing. The support from her parents, the care, love, everything. She envies everyone who has nice and caring parents but she doesn't envy everyone who has parents because not all parents can be nice. She misses her parents who passed away too early and Arthur who is an angel towards everyone but especially to her. She has been trying her best to look okay but she can't fool everyone, not even herself.

Amon awkwardly wrapped his arms around her petite body and patted her back. Layla couldn't help but chuckle at the awkwardness so she steps back and smiles at him. "I'm going to change then I'll just order because I'm too exhausted to cook. But clean up the mess, please. Thanks." She tapped him on his shoulder and runs up to the stairs which made Amon confused at her sudden changes in behavior.

Amon looks at her as she runs upstairs. "What the fuck...?" He shakes his head and just walks towards the kitchen. He is confused at her and she is confused at herself. She's bipolar nowadays.

After a while of their arguments, while Layla's eating and Amon tried eating human food but ended up spitting it and felt unwell, they talked about what's going to happen and what's currently going on for Layla to be aware in case something terrible happens.

Everybody who was aware of the fact that Layla isn't supposed to be born knew how dangerous her life could be and how the world can be in danger even with just a small mistake and as much as possible they don't want anything to get ruined again especially not by HIM. He has ruined everything and even if his whole existence has vanished from this galaxy, someone or something might ruin everything again. Layla doesn't know that she's from the Devil, she doesn't know anything except that she needs Amon, the 'angel' to save and cure her sickness that no human can help her with. She knows that her life is strange but she doesn't know anything more.

"Listen to me. I'm still going to cure you every single day and you have no choice." Amon told her the harsh truth but she just accepts her life as it is and nodded while sighing. "You don't need to work anymore. I will provide for you and I'm going to give you money because that's easy for me to get. You just spend your time more wisely and more freely but don't ever think that you're going to betray me for some unknown reason. You need to be smart and you need to be cautious because sometimes people bring more danger than you think. You need to think first before getting close to someone but I don't think I should worry too much about that because I know that you don't like being too close to people."

Layla bit her lip and nodded. "Yeah...sure. Do whatever you want to do just get the money that's enough for the both of us. I don't need lots of money." She told him after processing for a few seconds, in her mind that she'll have more free time but that means that her mind will be unoccupied and her thoughts will be all over the place. She'll have more time to think about her life and she doesn't want that.

Amon could see by her expression in her face that she is having a hard time processing that she doesn't need to be that busy anymore. "Layla, you just have to find other productive things to do that are not super tiring because I can see how tired you are every day because of having to go to work and then wake up early because of your cure and school. You're young, try to have fun. Let a de- I mean an angel do the work from now on."

Layla nodded. "Yeah. You're right. I'll just find other productive things to do. Maybe I'll take extra classes or learn an instrument?" She asked herself but Amon quickly shook his head at her and she looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "What?"

"Don't take extra classes. Just like I said, you're young, have fun. You've done well enough so fucking stop. Learning an instrument will be nice but fucking have fun! That's not fun!" Amon exclaimed to her while frowning, disapproving of the way her mind works and how she doesn't know how to have fun. Layla shrugged and took a bite off a cookie that they bought a few days ago.

"Fine. I'll try to have 'fun'." Amon rolls her eyes at her but continued talking.

"You're hiding something from me, aren't you?" He asked her with suspicion while examining her expressions but she remained expressionless and shrugged again.

"I have allowed a few people to stay close to me and they're nice. I like them, they're not showing anything that looks wary. That's all." She revealed but still not telling him about the new teacher but she knows that he will eventually know about it because Amon knows everything about her and he's always in her mind or in disguise, following her like a creep. She's actually surprised that he still doesn't know about how her whole day went.

"Oh really? How nice and surprising...so what are they like? Are you sure you can trust them? Do they look attractive at all? Maybe they're just making a fool out of you. We can never know humans...humans tend to like to be stupid and making other humans look stupid." Amon bombarded her with questions and he sat on the tool while squatting down and really, he looks like an anime. He reminds Layla of the anime Death Note, the monster, and L because of how scary Amon looks and how he sits every time. It's sad though that L had died because Layla likes him and his intelligence and his weirdness.

Anyway, Layla just looked at him as if he was crazy and shook her head in disbelief. "Look...all I can say is that yes, they're attractive but they're nice and trustworthy enough but not quite more than that because I still have my own secrets that I can never tell anyone. No one is suspicious in either one of them and if they are, I think I would have noticed it before they can even realize that they are suspicious. They are actually kind and I genuinely like them, that's why I allowed them to get attached to me. Just trust me, don't you trust me?" She looks at him with innocent hurt puppy eyes but she cringed at herself and Amon just shook his head at her.

"It's...not like I don't trust you but I just don't trust other humans. You see...how can I trust other humans when they all bring destruction, chaos, sadness, judgment, treating almost everyone like someone is stupider than them when really they're all equally stupid and yet they think so highly of themselves. Angels and demons are highly likely to look at them, wondering what the hell humans are doing and why humans continue to ruin their home. The earth. They're ungrateful stupid creatures that think that they are so high and big when they're nothing but a speck of dust." Amon explains to her like Layla isn't even a human and when he realized that he got too carried away, he smiled innocently at her while Layla just understands him and what he's trying to say.

"Well, in that case, thanks for trusting me because I know how much you hate humans but don't worry, I understand you. You are right about all of what you said. But please remember that not all of us intentionally wanted to bring destruction and such but because some of us don't have a choice but to live that way." Layla explained to him calmly with a soft smile, reassuring him. Amon scoffs, not wanting to look wrong but he felt kinda proud that Layla believes that he's right because he really is. He sees the world and he sees what it's really like.

"But back to the original topic. Please be careful, Layla. Always watch out for yourself and if you see anything unusual or suspicious, don't hesitate to call out for me and tell me right away. Your life will be in danger and I'll also be punished for not looking out for you well. Trust my words. And I'll tell you, Layla, that if you keep anything from me that is wary, I'll always be in your mind or following you 24/7. That's your punishment, you can never do anything by yourself anymore and I know how much you hate that so watch. out." Amon warned her with his scary eyes and serious look but because Layla is so used to it she just nodded.

"Yeah. I'll watch out." She replies. In all honesty, Layla is weirded out at him because of different reasons. Why does she need to watch out and be paranoid? It's not like anyone knows about her secrets and it's not like she's a danger to society. She's just sick. What's more to that, that she doesn't know? Is Amon hiding something from her? Because he acts so paranoid and it only got worse especially now that he's her guardian.

Layla shook her head and didn't think anymore else to it because she'll go insane just by thinking about everything at once.
