Kapitel 40: Hyena Delivery

Crynn POV

"Wh-what a-are we do-doing exactly?" Jonathan pointed towards the carcass with one hand and the other clutching his left chest. If not because of the wind breezing, I might've heard his heart beating strongly. "Now that both of you're here," O'Connell began wiping his bloodied knives and started packing them all up.

"You two, give me a hand will ya. We're going to be carrying some hyenas to our camp," he remarked casually while still packing things up and now wiping his hands off. "Wa-wait a minute, y-you wa-want us to ca-carry that... that... beast!" Jonathan stuttered more, his face twitching by the minute and his index fingers, spasming out of control, though I also would like to ask.

"Why exactly do we need to carry an entire body of that hyena. What's that, 30 kilograms," yeah, not really that heavy, but why, just why. "Oh, we're not carrying this hyena, we're carrying the other hyenas, this hyena's not really usable anymore." Now I know why he said 'some', it's because we're really going to carry some hyenas.

"That hyena's unusable? What's the reason for that," the hyena is now basically full of cuts, butchered heavily right from its stomach, up its chest and through its head. "Ok, I know what you're thinking. After giving it a thought, butchering hyenas in the camp is better than butchering hyenas more than 20 yards away. Oh, and what's kilograms anyway, the full weights about 132 pounds."

Right, traditional Americans use traditional measurement systems, so 132 lbs, about 60 kgs, quite the weight. "A kilogram is about 1.8 pounds, and why do you need more than 1 hyenas for anyway," one hyena should be enough, why do we need more, can't we eat the whole thing. "So that's a kilogram and second, we are only eating one, I'll skin the others for the fur, the furs are expensive and can be used as blankets."

More information, this man is truly a desert survivalist, I didn't even know hyenas cost that much, are they common or something. "Oh yes, I know that the night's been hot and not as cold as you'd usually hear some people saying. Well that's true, its hot but there's also sometime that the night gets too windy and cold, these hyena skins will be useful for then," another informational talk, can it really turn cold, so far, it's been as hot as an Australian summer minus the UV-rays.

Haven't been hearing Jonathan talk more, I thought he liked chatting. I turned my head and saw the scene, Jonathan still pointing and face still paling. "Hey Jonathan," I tapped him on his shoulders and he immediately got pulled out from his petrified state. "Take a hold of yourselves, it's only a dead hyena, see it's dead."

"Ri-right, let's get going then," well that didn't took long for him to regain his composure and lose his stutter, it seems like we're good to go. "O'Connell, where are the rest of the corpses," O'Connell shook the sand off his boots before looking at me, then looking in the opposite distance. "There should be three over the dunes just there," O'Connell gestured us to follow and he began trekking the dunes.

I sighed, more dunes to go through, at this point, I'm just too tired to complain and starting to really hope more on this delicacy. After having experienced walking slowly till walking faster, I think I should be able to run through these sands with stability. I quickly caught up and climbed the dunes to see, you guessed it right, three hyenas distanced around each other.

"Ah! Jonathan! I thought you'd never make it up here!" I saw O'Connell joked to a clearly tired looking Jonathan, a man looking for treasure but instead getting some labour. "Oh shut up O'Connell, it's hard enough travelling through the desert, I hope the treasure will be enough to reimburse my ever-growing debility," Jonathan glared at a laughing O'Connell, I couldn't help but chuckle a little myself.

"Avter, take the right one. Jonathan, go left. I'll get the center one," O'Connell stuck his index and middle finger together and make moving motions towads three different direction pointing three different dead hyenas. "I trust your arms will be able to carry over 132 pounds of hyena eh Jonathan," I side bumped Jonathan and teased him a bit.

"Of course! I'd have you know, I once carried a whole bookshelf of books to be properly placed in the Egyptian library," Jonathan brought his arms up, displaying movements to 'brag' about his strength. "Yeah right," I snickered, so comical, at least in this world, I can talk to someone instead of staying isolated in a room in a small castle.

"Ok, ok, get moving," O'Connell descended first into the sands, I followed suite on the right and Jonathan moved to the left. I sprinted carefully to the hyena a few meters away, I got to see O'Connell's handiwork on this hyena, 3 bullet wounds on its upper chest, that's got to hurt. I thought of the ways to carry this thing, carry it by its stomach, drag the head, or by its legs.

I decided upon it, I gripped the legs, two of its paws on my left fist and the other two on my right fist. I began swinging it, one, two, three, throw! The 132 pounds hyena was flung a few yards away and it landed forcefully with a thump and the sand impacted all around it. hohoho, that's fun. I grabbed it by its legs again and sing, I threw it over the dunes and another thump accross the sands.

I ran up and saw O'Connell carrying it and Jonathan dragging it. It seems that I have the best delivery method for this situation. i will get to the camp quicker than them making their way halfway. I dashed down and another grab, swing! Thump! Hehehe, this is fun, swing! Thump! Swing! Thump!

I looked back and saw no one, "O'Connell, Jonathan! How slow are you two!" i shouted from across the desert. "Do you think carrying a 132 pound hyena to be so easy!" Jonathan and O'Connell yelled back, Jonathan in particular has a bit of resentment buried in his voice. Heh, slow shites.
