Zeel looked directly into Malcolm Goode's eyes for a moment before smiling.
After removing his hands from Malcolm Goode's head, Zeel once again said "Guys, I am doing this experiment whether or not you like it. You don't have a choice,"
Alice noticed that Zeel was awfully decisive after coming in contact with Malcolm Goode. She always thought that this entire ordeal seemed like a game to Zeel, like an intermission on a long unpredictable journey.
Even if he often thought about killing everyone, it was more of an instinctive reaction than actually perceiving them as a threat.
Zeel had an innate pride that put everyone below himself, even Alice, herself. Hence, he never really took anything too seriously, Alice had the unshakable impression that the current Zeel was only a part of his normal self.
"Is it even possible? Permanently transferring legacies?" Marina asked a bit skeptical.
Zeel had given them no choice in the matter, so the next best option was to pray for a failure. After all, the brightest minds on Lorien could not solve this issue, but could Zeel?
"Normally, it would be impossible but I have a feeling it would work," Zeel said mysteriously, clearly indicating that he had a grasp on how Lorien Legacies were bestowed.
It was one thing to believe himself brilliant enough to transfer Legacies, but it was another, to claim he understood the underlying mechanisms of the entirety of Lorien.
This made every member of The Garde dissatisfied with Zeel's experiment. It was akin to an atheist going to church to curse the pope about God's impossibility.
That was exactly what John, Marina, Vishnu, Cindy, Steven, Ella, and Elizabeth were currently experiencing.
"I mean even Setrakus Ra couldn't figure it out after years and years of research. What makes you think you can, in a couple of months since we met?" Elizabeth points out what everyone had on their mind, though she did this more to comfort them than to chastise Zeel.
"Compared to you Loriens, our technology is still a bit superior," Alice pointed out quite bluntly, which was the indisputable truth of the matter.
Zeel had yet to think of possible civilizations in the multiverse that could compare to the Homo-Superior race.
There were a couple at the back of his mind, but he realized that knowledge was probably within the Forbidden Cube.
"John bring him over here," Zeel said pointing at the knocked-out Cody on the ground "By the way, wouldn't you want to get those checked out?" he said pointing to Vishnu's missing arm.
"Oh, hold up!" Vishnu said as a new arm regenerated and his burn marks cleared up.
Clearly, the benefits acquired with his Felian heritage was strongest in Vishnu.
Zeel nodded "Neat!"
"STARS2 pull up Henry's, Adelina's, Clayton's, and Lexa's stasis pods," Zeel commanded as their stasis chambers rose from beneath the glass.
Alice acted as a bystander in all arguments that Zeel could absolutely win, she didn't want to break her caring big sister persona. If only Alice knew the group feared her more than they did Zeel, after all, you only fear the unknown.
Zeel then proceeded to explain, while hooking up Cody to another stasis pod which had a power siphon connected to it.
"Setrakus Ra attempted experiments that forced your legacies, or rather the power gifted by Lorien, from one person to another. That was doomed to fail from the start as it's impossible to force a Being such as (Lorien) your planet to give power when it does not want to. From that, you should all be able to deduce the method of transfer,"
"Being?" the group questioned with even Malcolm slightly trembling by the hints contained in Zeel's words.
The way Zeel would phrase certain statements would always irritate the group, but this time he was explicit enough to not be considered annoying.
"Yes, I put the clues together. When we went to that temple in India, the Being that saved the Felians was a Cosmic Force, I have encountered a couple before myself, it destroyed my home planet.
Nasty things they are, and scary. Some people believe that Cosmic Forces gave birth to the first gods or vice versa. I never believed in it, until recently.
Hey, I prayed once and didn't get a reply so...," Zeel explained as he finished the last connection from Cody's to the Henri's, Lexa's, Clayton's, and Adeline's stasis pods.
"You see, Alice and I have problems containing our energy, so we need something to take away the excess energy. Something has been helping us contain the energy by taking the excess energy from us, but it's like a two-way street.
When that thing started taking energy from us, we became aware of its existence. So you see, a Cosmic Force is a rare thing to find, they call them as such because they are absolutely necessary for any universe they're born into.
My mom used to tell me a lot of stories about such beings, but she was kind of brutal? My mom was a special type of woman to put it simply,"
"So you're saying Lorien is a Cosmic Force?" John asked to clarify the main points from all the babbling Zeel was currently doing.
It was the first time the group heard Zeel speak so much, even Alice was a bit surprised. She could feel his excitement through their psychic connection.
However, Alice knew that Zeel would only babble when he hoped you missed the main information from a statement he is speaking.
"Yes. But a very weakened one, hence why Cody could still keep his powers. When the Mogadorians invaded Lorien, they essentially killed a dying planet.
Funny right? The Cosmic Force stored the last of itself inside the soon to be elders, but it was too weak to truly choose who would inherit the power, hence it did the next best thing, chose by way of blood ties," Zeel said as he pointed at each member of the Garde.
Alice shrugged and continued "So Lorien basically said 'Your daddy is good so you must be good', but what happens when that good turns to bad? Like the Mogadorian dog, Cody?"
"Simple really, before his legacies had to remain with him because it did not yet have enough strength to leave, that's why you guys and even Setrakus Ra could manipulate the energy somewhat, but with it charging up some energy from the excess Alice and I emit.
Now, Lorien has enough energy to make a choice. There is not much you have to do to transfer the power," Zeel said as a foggy, brightly colored light traveled through the siphon into each stasis chamber housing members of the Cêpan.
Alice looked at Zeel questioningly since he told them almost everything in cryptic ways, but he forgot to mention what Lorien represented. Alice was vague about the knowledge, but she did know that all Cosmic Forces represented something vital to the Universe, or even Multiverse.
Lorien, specifically, was supposed to represent The Flame of Purity.
Alice then said, "All you have to do to transfer legacies is give it a choice on who it would rather grant power to, a jackass Mogadorian dog, or honorable Cêpans that took care of the next generation of elders?"
Zeel watched Alice careful to gauge what she would say next.
Alice took a deep breath and decided to tell most of the truth "You have to be careful. Remember that Lorien is a Cosmic Force, and like Zeel. They do not conform to our common sense. To Lorien, you or the Mogadorians would make no difference as long as you're pure,"
Zeel stopped Alice from continuing and just stated the fact.
"Basically, don't expect Lorien to think as you do," he said.
"Pretty easy solution, huh? What stops Lorien from taking away our power?" Elizabeth asked feeling uncomfortable at all the information being disseminated as if it wasn't that important.
If this knowledge were to leak then Loriens would never have a chance to rest again. There will be constants wars over the inherited abilities of Loriens.
"Lorien was too weak before, long before the Mogadorians attacked, and even before then it was weaker than any cosmic force should be," Zeel said and then continued "The reason for that is because a nearby planet was introduced near Lorien that acted as a parasite drawing much of its energy from it,"
Alice shrugged and gestured to everyone as she said "And that planet's name is …...?"
Vishnu interrupted "Mogador. The war the Felian's fought weakened Lorien! And then they put Mogador nearby so nobody would ever notice Lorien again,"
Zeel nodded "Exactly!"
"Why would placing Lorien next to Mogador hide the latter?" Cindy questioned.
"Because Mogador acted as a parasite stealing Lorien's energy, also the best place to hide something you don't want to be found is the place someone would least suspect," Zeel said as he elaborated "The best place to hide a prosperous Planet like Lorien is next to a cesspit like Mogador,"
"You're asking the wrong questions," Alice said as she continued "What you should be asking is what kind of war would cause a Cosmic Force to deplete its energy?"
That statement made everyone freeze in place, for once they felt dread towards something other than the Mogadorians.
Feel that chill?
I know I do.
