Kapitel 19: Work
Ren and Yoruichi were eating... well... Yoruichi is gobbling the food because she haven't eaten anything since last night. Ren is also a big eater but the food they have is a lot. Ren thanked Kushina in his mind for providing them a lot of food in the morning. They were not speaking to each other as they focused on chomping down the food in front of them.
After a few minutes, Ren and Yoruichi put down their utensils and patted their tummy. Ren then cleaned up and noticed two bracelets with a folded piece of paper underneath it. When he took a look at it, he was surprised.
'These two bracelet are the main key to enter the residence. There are two Barrier Seals in this estate, one offensive seal and one defensive seal. The offensive seal attacks those that do not have the bracelet with my personal seal, the defensive seal on the other hand, lets me know if someone is tresspassing. I removed the offensive seal temporarily because you are still new to the place but later I will return the offensive seal so you better not lose the bracelet.' Ren read everything written on the paper as he had a few realizations.
He was wondering why Kushina visited him early in the morning when she can just notify him of breakfast. Turns out that she noticed Yoruichi coming from outside and she rushed in to check and saw Yoruichi's real form lying on top of him. Now Ren is curious about those seals. Such a thing could be helpful and could be used in lots of things.
"Hoo~ it was a good feast since I haven't eaten last night!" Yoruichi exclaimed while Ren just nodded as he put the paper away and started washing the pot, plates, and utensils used. He intends to return it to Kushina when he bought their own things.
"So, how's your scouting last night?" Ren asked curiously. He didn't have the time to roam around the village since leaving mount Myoboku so he was curious as to what Yoruichi had seen.
"Well, the important places are always guarded by masked guys. Their masks are white with animal faces on it. It seems like they are the elite guards of the village. As for the important establishments like hospitals, food stalls, and the likes, I've already memorized them." Yoruichi said while Ren was pondering what to do first.
"Screw it, we need money, lead me to the hospital. Maybe Jiraiya's letter could help us." Ren said. Before Jiraiya split up with the couple and Ren, he gave Ren a letter of recommendation before fleeing to search for inspirations for his book.
"Sure. Be careful though. I can sense a lot of those masked people monitoring this residence." Yoruichi said and Ren fell into deep thoughts.
'Is it because of us? Or that pervert, Jiraiya? Is it Minato? Kushina? Is there something I don't know? I guess for now, I can assume that they were monitoring this place because of me. I'm an outsider after all.' Ren thought as he thought of all possible reasons why this place is being monitored.
"Continue monitoring them, also wear this bracelet." Ren said as he slid the bracelet and the folded paper into the table to Yoruichi who caught it with her hands.
When she read the note, she was curious as well.
"Did you already tell them?" Yoruichi asked.
"I told Kushina. Surely she will tell Minato." Ren said and Yoruichi had a gloom on her face.
"You're no fun at all!" Yoruichi complained. She thought that she can surprise them by suddenly turning into a woman from a male cat but Ren just destroyed the opportunity to do so.
"If you want to cause trouble, don't drag me into it. Anyway, lead me to the hospital." Ren said while Yoruichi had a frown on her first face. She transformed into a cat and Ren followed after her after he locked their home.
When they arrived outside, Ren finally have the time to appreciate the built infrastructures. He could see a lot of shops that sells food ingredients like meat and vegetables, there were also shops that sells miscellaneous things and many more. There were also food stalls along the way and Yoruichi was staring at the food stalls with such intensity.
Finally they arrived at the building that certainly didn't look like a hospital but Yoruichi led him here.
"Are you sure this is the place?" Ren stared at Yoruichi. He could feel the somber and gloomy aura of death hovering the place. Although he asked Yoruichi, he didn't doubt if this was the right place.
Seeing Yoruichi nod, he went inside and the scene inside is already full of chaos. Many people were running around the place, helping on the injured. The injuries that Ren saw ranged from bruise, to cuts, pierce wounds, broken limbs, and lastly, sliced limbs.
Ren's mind was in a little turmoil but he held it in and walked towards the woman in a table, dealing with paperworks.
"Uhm, hello? I came in here to try my luck in finding some work and learn at the same time. Here's the recommendation letter." Ren handed her the letter while the woman read the letter. Her eyes was surprised as she looked at Ren and his cat.
"May I know your name? I'm going to write it in the records." The woman said.
"Ren. Just Ren." Ren replied and the woman looked at him like she was waiting for Ren to say more. Seeing her look, Ren knew what she was hinting.
"No, I don't have a surname." His words brought surprise to the woman again but she shook it off and just wrote it.
"Do you have any experience in the medical field?" The woman asked.
"I only know the basics. I'm here to learn and widen my medical knowledge." Ren humbly said.
"I see. Since you have a recommendation letter from Lord Jiraiya, you can work as an assistant of Lord Orochimaru, he's the head of the medical area right now since the war has reached its conclusion and Lady Tsunade has stepped down from her position.... If you have any questions, you can ask me about it. Names Shizune by the way." Shizune said with a friendly smile but her smile doesn't fit the chaotic atmosphere around her.
"Erhm, Shizune-dono, may I know where Lord Orochimaru's office is? Also, is it alright for me to be the assistant of Lord Orochimaru? Shouldn't you look for someone with experience?" Ren asked.
"Just call me Shizune. Lord Orochimaru can be found in the top floor of this building. As for your question, its fine if you work as Lord Orochimaru's assistant, in fact, no one would steal that position from you. His previous medical assistants left because... well, you'll know when you work for him. Also since you're here to learn as well, then Lord Orochimaru could be said to be on par with Lady Tsunade in terms of medical knowledge. It should be a good opportunity for you to learn, but do be careful as Lord Orochimaru is an eccentric individual." Shizune said and Ren slightly bowed in thanks and went on his way.
"What an interesting person, don't you think so, Tonton?" She said as a piglet poked its head out while Shizune is looking at Ren's figure and the cat on his shoulder.
