Deb Oh woke up at 7am the next morning to a throbbing jarring headache, she could hardly remember the events from last night. Her body ached all over from the gruesome 12 hour shift from her nursing job.
"I don't know how long I can keep doing this, I'm in so much pain!"
Even as the thought crossed her mind, she was powerless to change her current situation. Deb Oh started out when she graduated from nursing school as a low level nurse by working 4 days a week 12 hours a day but slowly she began cutting down her work days.
"This is getting too much, I'll work 3 days a week, 36 hours is perfect to pay all my living expenses and have some left to save and use in the future!"
Deb Oh came up with the idea when she saw how verbally abusive her patient's mother had become towards her.
Each time she prepared to go to work, she began to dread stepping into her patient's home. In the end she couldn't stay and decided to leave after suffering from so much anxiety.
"When did my nursing burnout start? Was it when I was working at Y senior's facility? Could it be when I switched to become an agency nurse?"
Deb Oh searched within her for the answers to her mental problems, she was smart enough to know that the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and depression didn't only come from her car accident nor her mother's demise after succumbing to long fight to a terminal illness, neither was it because she wasn't able to find a job as a pharmacology new graduate in a foreign country.
