Kapitel 577: LOG 26: Surrendering

We've arrived at one of the long beaches of the city, frankly enough, unable to gather much suspicion from the crowd nor the police dwelling in the place.

"Okay, we're here. What now?" I told Valery as while we walked, she got her map of the entire archipelago.

"We go South bound to Rigoletto Taiga. South further more will lead us to Carmen Desert."

"We'll sleep at the Taiga, not the city. Their boat's coming too and without a doubt, they'll tell the officers."

She agreed. We went deeper to the inland of the city, finding the exit out of this maze of cars and winding streets. It is truly like what Valery described, a reformed Castelia City with only inches of difference in its size.

There were museums, theaters, but we tried to stray away and stay clear from any form of distraction. I was also cautious whether their ship had already arrived or not or if the police had heard of us already.

On our way outside, I just had to let Valery buy her ice cream. It was a long line to the stall and I was constantly getting worried with the police officers who pass by. I was looking at them and they were looking at me, probably thinking I'm one of those children who'd randomly stare at you in a chapel.

They waved and went away. That made me exhale as it pointed that there wasn't any who knew of us yet. Things were getting at first but that all changed when two extra customers also wanted ice cream.

Buying ice cream? Fine by me, but who they are, I'm ambivalent about this.

"Luna?" Logan said with intense relief to have found me.

"Oh, you two are here as well? What a surprise. I'm just buying ice cream... too."

Valery looked back. "Hey, who are these?"

Dawn's eyebrows rose. "Who is she?"

"So, it's true, you're not alone?"

"Alone? Her? She's Valery, a--"

"A local violinist who met Luna somewhere in this city. Nothing suspicious about that. Nothing at all."

"Well, might I ask if you're really having a vacation or are you, Team Rocket, busy doing something again?"

Even though we're doing something, Logan was never really this concerned about Team Rocket. He'd even cover me. Must've been Dawn who's responsible behind this. Must've did some lecturing about integrity again.

"Team Rocket?" Valery gasped. "How did you know we're Team Rocket?"

I looked at Valery with a glare.

"Oops. I mean, who's Team Rocket?"

"Okay, okay, fine, I'm not on vacation and we have a mission."

"See!" Dawn glared intensely. "I knew it."

"Hey, hey, don't forget I saved your asses in Sinnoh! If it weren't for me, the world would end."

"Look, we paid debts already. Don't forget I covered up for you a million of times! It's back to zero."

"What's going on?" Valery was befuddled with the scenario growing.

"Where are the shards you're after?"

"Shards? You mean this?" Valery answered to Logan's question, lifting her mini pouch that contained the transparent orbs.

"Hey! Stop exposing stuff."

"Are they Team Rocket too?"

"No! They're trainers!"

"Oh... Oh, my."

"Give that back to us. If you do, we'll leave in perfect harmony and no one will get in trouble."

The argument was heating up. I have no plans to chase after them. They talked and talked with their ethics and values for justice while I secretly scanned Dawn's bag. A small piece of paper with random letters and numbers was overhanging. It was definitely useful.

"Dawn's right. I am a trainer and I can't fight up for criminals," Logan said reluctantly with pauses midway.

"Valery, give the bag to them."

"Huh? No! You're not giving up on the mission are you?"

"Just do it."

"It's a final exchange. Surrender that to us, we'll exchange with one last cover up, but when we encounter you again, I'm afraid we'll have to settle this. Team Rocket's organization is expanding," Dawn said.

"No! If you're giving up on the mission, I'm not!" Valery said and clenched her purse tightly.

"Next!" the woman in the counter said. This put down Valery's guard as I grabbed her pouch and gave it to Logan and Dawn. They nodded and left. Logan was apologizing sincerely but I was not buying it. I guess they forgot about their ice cream as well.

"What? You promised not to be a traitor!"

"Look, if we fight in the middle of the streets, the police will come after us. We can't escape this time, we'd raise our suspicion if we'd fly off in a city crowded with masses. No, I'm not giving up on the mission. Hurry and get your ice cream. We still have a chance to claim your purse back."

"Oh... So this is one of your plans, eh? I thought you were giving it up because you were in love with the trainer."

"What? No, I'm not. He's better off with that Dawn. I hope this plan works. And I hope I still remember the chemistry stuff I've been reading lately."

"Chemistry?"

"Trust me on this."
