{Alright folks! The final round of the night has begun! What will be the trainers' first choice? Let's find out!} yelled, the commentator towards his mike. It was able to make the crowd run wild.
"Swellow, you're up!"
{And look at that! Brendan sent out his Swellow! Fun fact, Swellows are appreciated for their dazzling keen eyes, capable of seeing things further than ten kilometers!}
"Dustox, this is your chance!"
{Next up, we have Logan sending out his Dustox. Being a bug, Swellow has the upper advantage!}
"Battle begin!" the referee raised his hands and proclaimed the start of the match.
"Alright Dustox, confusion, let's go!"
"We're not letting them confuse us, Swellow use double team!"
{A magnificent counter from a trainer like Brendan, using double team to surround Dustox, making Dustox confused on who to attack. What an irony!}
The majority of the crowd cheered for Brendan and right off the start, Logan is pretty flustered. I took out my notebook to jot down some notes while I cheer for Logan. Looks like I can benefit from the match as well.
"Now, use Aerial Ace on Dustox!"
"Protect!"
{Logan is on the defensive side, letting no opportunity for the foe to hit his Pokemon. Looks like both trainers are determined to battle the champion!}
At the corner of the stadium, I can see May and Wally cheering for Brendan, actually, the whole crowd is cheering for Brendan which lowered Logan's self-esteem.
"Come on, Dustox now it's our turn, use Acrobatics!"
'Glide through to dodge!"
{Well, look at that! Swellow dodges the attack by gliding past the foe! Pilots take note of this in case you're set for a collision course with another airplane!}
"This is great, Swellow, now use Brave Bird!"
"..."
{Now that Swellow is behind Dustox, Brendan is given the perfect opportunity to use an attack in which Dustox isn't aware of. It is shocking to see a trainer with such great tactics that even Logan was speechless.
brave bird may have done extra damage, not to mention it is at its powerful against a bug but in the same time has also given the user recoil damage.}
My heart was in a suspense roller-coaster. My hair around my body is literally standing as I hope this match goes to Logan. There must be a way to retaliate against Brendan's tough strategies but from my perspective, I see nothing at all.
"Dustox is unable to battle! Trainer Logan, please send out your next Pokemon." instructed, the referee.
Logan was shrouded with a drained self-esteem. Though he can see me cheering for him, the rest of the crowd was giving him a hard time to focus. Dustox was knocked out pretty quickly and according to the Pokedex, brave bird is a flying type move so it makes sense. Not to mention the power of the move is above a hundred.
"I'm counting on you," he told his Pokeball as he tossed it to the sky, revealing a ghost type Pokemon. Small but terrible like they say, Banette spooks off the audience by emerging as a shadowy and murky figure from the ground.
{Banette! The Marionette Pokemon, looks like Logan is going to deal with Brendan's tactics by spooking him off! Let's see where this battle will lead us to. Alright, let the battle continue!}
"Interesting," whispered Steven as he leaned his head forward.
"Swellow, use Giga Impact!"
"Banette, phantom force!"
<Ban? Ban! Ban! Ban!> It chuckled and from the sight of everyone, the Pokemon disappeared. We were all stunned except for Scott, for we knew not about the stated attack but for Brendan? He seemed worried.
"Detect!" Brendan commanded right away.
<Banette!> Banette attacked and surprised the hell out of Swellow in mid-air. The damage was immense, causing Swellow to crash to the ground and all of us were like, "Wait, didn't Swellow use detect?"
Finally, Scott explained the details of the move, {Phantom Force causes the user to disappear, becoming invulnerable to most attacks. Then it deals damage and can hit Pokémon using Protect or Detect.}
I took down notes about the description. This will be handy and hopefully, I can help Misdreavus learn the attack.
<Swell! Swell!>Injured but firm, Swellow flew back to the sky.
"Banette, end Swellow with Night Shade!"
"Doge it!"
{Worn out because of the previous attack, Swellow had a hard time dodging; therefore, Banette had the advantage and the attack went straight in!}
"Swellow is unable to battle, trainer Brendan, please send out your second Pokemon!" instructed, the referee. Now, things are even and the majority of the crowd went to Logan. His self-esteem was able to rise as he felt more confident because of the crowd.
"Shiftry come out!"
{Well look at that folks, looks like Brendan is sticking with the disadvantage mechanism of Pokemon battling. As we all now, ghost is weak against dark types and Shiftry is half dark and grass. Battle continue!}
"Pretty impressive, Logan. I won't hold back."
"Neither will I! Banette, now use Charge Beam!"
"Dodge it Shiftry and use Payback!"
<Shif! Shif!>
{The speed was immense! As if it was using teleportation, Shiftry was able to dodge the attack!} Scott leaned his head forward, pumped up and enthusiastic. Alongside this enthusiasm, is the crowd, cheering for Brendan. The crowd split into two. Half cheered for Brendan, the other half including me cheered for Logan.
Though badly injured because of a super effective attack, Banette was still confident that it can win this for the sake of its trainer. Logan goes with the move Phantom Force again, now my most favorite ghost type moved.
It vanished into thin air, scaring Shiftry and its trainer on where it may appear. Not knowing what to do, Brendan asked Shiftry to use double team. Now that his turn is finished, Banette reappeared behind the real Shiftry and unleashed the powerful attack.
Logan asked it to follow it up with Charge Beam, a super-effective move. That dealt twice the damage but despite all of this, Shiftry was still able to battle.
"Now use Sucker Punch!"
"Banette, dodge it now!"
<Ban... Ban...>It inhaled and exhaled deeply.
{What's this? Banette is fully exhausted after using two attacks in a row! It was unable to dodge that critical hit... but wait... oh, oh! Banette is still standing, but it looks like one more hit can knock it down completely.}
Seeing Banette still standing, I sighed in relief. That last move gave me goosebumps.
"Shiftry, Snarl immediately!"
"Go! Use Charge Beam!"
{Both attacks went straight for both Pokemon! Who will triumph over the dust shrouding them tonight? ... ... ...} There was a momentary silence amongst all as we waited for the dust to settle.
The results were unexpected, {Both Pokemon had been knocked out! This night is heating up as both trainers only have one Pokemon each!} the crowd split into two as they cheer for their favorite trainer.
"Both trainers, send out your last Pokemon!" said, the referee. This is the moment that will determine the winner, the final round, the final Pokemon. I'm pumped to know the results and this match made me distracted from jotting down notes. I never knew watching Pokemon leagues would be this fun.
"From the day we first met, we've achieved greatness. Now it is time to prove how powerful we became, Sceptile, I choose you!"
May, Wally, and the half of the crowd cheered for Sceptile and Brendan...
"Our bond is limitless as we strike for success. Gallade, I choose you!"
Me and the other half cheered for Logan. Meanwhile, the elite four and the champion remained neutral, clapping their hands for both sides.
{Both Pokemon are looking fiercer than ever! Let this final round commence. Who will triumph over the Hoenn Pokemon League?! The answer is to come!}
"I knew you would use your Sceptile against me, and I've prepared hard for this moment!"
"Let's see about that Logan, dragon claw, Sceptile!"
"I knew you would! Gallade, hypnosis, full power!"
<Gallade! Gallade!> Gallade made cooing noises which had put the foe to sleep. Since Sceptile was fast asleep, this gave Logan the opportunity to win the league.
"Now follow up with Dream Eater!"
{Straight up, Logan commanded Gallade to use Dream Eater right from the start!}
I can see the determination in Logan's eyes, the eagerness to win, and the will to continue flows in his vessels. After that move, Sceptile is awakened from its sleep. It did a whole amount of damage, but despite this, Sceptile was strong enough the withstand it.
"Sceptile, now continue with Dragon Claw!"
"You know it, pal, like always, use Psycho cut!"
{Both Pokemon rushed to each other, searching for an opening to land their attacks. From battling to fencing, who will land an attack first?}
<Gall!!!>
{And there you have it, Gallade blasted to the wall which means Sceptile was able to strike first.}
"Now, let's pump it up! Use Quick Attack, Sceptile!"
<Gall! Gall! Gall! Gall!> Gallade was hit with multiple blows in the stomach. This made me flustered and interested to see who would win.
"Close Combat, now!"
{Despite the attack, Gallade is still standing strong feeling a bit exhausted. Close Combat, a swift move. It was able to attack Sceptile before Brendan even called out an attack! Looks like things are getting even-steven!}
"We've both traveled together and now we will show you our true capabilities! Gallade, now use Psycho Cut!"
"You're not the only one! It's time to use Leaf Blade!"
The match entered another round of fencing but this time, the results were different. Both Gallade and Sceptile were able to find an opening, and at the same time struck from there. In short, it was a collision course between the two.
Again, the dust comes as the people were eager to see who would be the next possible champion of their region. All of us, including the champion and the elite four, we leaned our heads forward and waited for that kill-joy dust to settle. While waiting for the dust to settle, everyone was quiet, mouths shut completely.
