Shortly before he entered the facility, he got lost wandering around the streets. During that time he stumbled upon a shady looking fortune teller shop. Since it was the only landmark in sight that looked like it had people, he went inside hoping to find anyone to ask for directions. Instead he ended up meeting a creepy fortune teller who insisted that he had his fortune taken.

He must have passed out because his memories of the encounter are very blurry. But, the words that stood out to him were the words borrowed time.

Indeed, that part of his fortune definitely came true. 'I don't know how much longer I will last, as each day goes by I feel that my body is no longer my own.'
