Kapitel 44: ch 43
The time has finally arrived and I must attend the imperial academy in order to insure that I stay focused on my mission Victor Crowley has backed off my business for now and is currently protecting mostly from others trying to take a bite of what he believes is his fattened sheep but for time being he is protecting my interests so that I can get an exclusive trading agreement with the elves by using my status as a spirt as elves disdain the gods and only see them as invaders to this world and by extension resent humanity as a whole but the current ruling body is trying to ease tensions between the two peoples.
Unfortunately for humanity elves are racist against humans in general especially since we've only recently ceased our conflict with the beast empire which is the number one ally of the elves and that is the only reason why we are being given a chance as it was part of the cease fire agreement but that also means that along with elves attending there will also be be beast kin and beast men but they will be sending four two of each and are more likely to openly hostile to any human being as while they respect the spirits they worship sacred beast which means although the elves might welcome me with open arms the beast people might passive-aggressive and be hindrance to negotiations with the elves but that really is not my problem.
If the trade agreement finishes up too quickly then there becomes no reason for Crowley to keep protecting my brothel and instead he might become my biggest obstacle in keeping it as he has already shown a keen interest in it going so far as to plot inside its walls so until I can find a way to deal with him I need to drag out this negotiation which shouldn't be too hard as there are others competing for the same thing so I'll take the slow way by trying to fix my relationship with the beast people and also hindering my competitors and if I am asked I'll say it is a necessary step in order to breed good will from both the elves and the beast people so that they are more likely to pick my backer over others but in actuality I will be working against him trying to recruit both factions to help me deal with the Crowley family entirely hopefully to wipe them out.
Arriving at the academy I was met with ecstatic frowning faces of the young imperial nobility the future ruling bodies of the empire who were all clearly overjoyed with presence of a common noble who is only half human and on top of that I have two elves acting as my maids as the school only permitted only two servants but what shocked the clever ones that were attentive to detail is that they don't have collars meaning that they serve me by choice while no one else could achieve this which is why no one else has elven servants as they could not afford to offend the elven delegation but some still brought beast people slaves as if trying to provoke the beast people who will be attending will I am approaching the main office a panicked staffer is running towards me.
staffer:"Are aware that you cannot bring your elven slaves to the academy as the empire is trying to foster good relations with the elven high court!?"
Me:"Yes, which is exactly why I didn't bring any with me"
staffer:"Then are you aware that the slaves you brought with you are in fact elves!?"
Me:"Yes they are elves no they are not slaves but proper servants"
staffer:"What do you mean they are not...oh my gods they are not wearing slave collars!!"
This immediately caused a commotion as clever ones were already approaching before the rest figured it out when the staffer yelled out why they were coming over for which turned from a few trying to create connections with me to a stampede of people all trying to win me over or figure out how I did it leaving me bogged down in offers, requests and threats making me want to slap the staffer for causing a scene before I even got to sign in for enrollment.
