Meanwhile, Zoey stopped one block away from the apartment where she knew Matthew Xi lives. The quietness in her place was too overwhelming she wanted to breathe some fresh air.
Before she knew it, she was now near his place. "Aya... I just want to breathe some fresh air — where are the trees?" Murmuring, Zoey heaved a sigh as she looked around.
So much trouble for the sake of breathing fresh air, yet she realized there were no trees around this place. The only reason this place felt fresh because of Matthew Xi, who was now on his period.
"Ahh... Zoey," Closing her eyes, Zoey leaned her head back and sighed her name. Now that she realized there was no point in going in this place, Zoey had to drive back to her place. Hence, the troubled sigh.
Slowly, Zoey cast the building where Matthew Xi lives for a moment. 'Was he home?' She thought internally.
However, she shrugged all thoughts about him at the moment as Zoey hitched out the car. She might as well cool her head a little and go home without bothering him.
He wouldn't even know that she was here, anyway. Therefore, Zoey paced back and forth. With this, she could just sleep when she gets home.
Little did she know, Matthew Xi was already approaching her car. He watched her walk back and forth while she stretched her neck with eyes closed.
When he was quite near her, his tracks halted upon hearing her speak. "My dear, why are you coming so close to me?"
For a second, Matthew Xi thought she sensed his presence. To his relief, Zoey seemed she was singing with the toneless voice of hers again.
"There's still a lot we don't know. What should I call you?" Zoey continued as she now stretched her arms. "A bit faster, a bit busier. Whatever, I don't care... something different, more bad. Whatever, I'm okay..."
'This woman...' As he heard her murmur the 'song' he never heard before, Matthew Xi could not help but shake his head sideways. Zoey sounded she wasn't singing but mumble rapping.
Zoey appeared to be a perfect woman, but she has no talent in singing. Did she know that? He wasn't even sure if she was singing or reciting a poem.
"What should I do?" At this point, Zoey stopped and slowly opened her eyes.
Moving her gaze to the apartment building — particularly to the door of his flat — Zoey muttered. "I fell in love with you, I don't know if it's true..." Matthew Xi didn't hear the last part of the song as Zoey whispered it.
"Why are you here?" Matthew Xi finally approached her, tired of hearing her sing.
Zoey furrowed her brows as she shifted her gaze to the towering figure walking closer to her. Gulping down, Zoey exhaled. "Breathing some fresh air." She answered truthfully.
Well, it was true though. It just so happened that her instincts led her in this place. The reason of her dilemma earlier and her unexpected night exercise to keep herself sober.
"It was quite the travel just to breathe some fresh air." He sarcastically remarked, letting her know he was not buying her lies.
"It is." Ignoring the hint, Zoey acted indifferent as she yawned. "Aren't you moved?"
"Why would I?" Bearing little emotions as ever, Matthew Xi furrowed his brows as he asked.
"Because my instinct led me here even before I realized it." Zoey winked at him as she strode towards the driver's seat. "That means you're special." When Zoey opened the driver seat's door, she turned to him and remarked.
Seeing that she was hitching inside, Matthew Xi hastened his pace and held on to the door before she could shut it close.
"Huh? What?" Slowly, Zoey turned to him and she arched her brows. However, he didn't answer as Matthew Xi opened the door and leaned forward inside.
Sniffing the scent of alcohol, he immediately retracted his head and cast her with a displeased stare. "I'll drive you home." He offered.
"Haha," Surprised by his sudden action, Zoey chuckled upon hearing his offer. "Darling, I arrived here unscathed — I can manage." She reassured.
"No," Dead serious about his offer, Matthew Xi remained adamant. He witnessed how she travelled to this place and Matthew Xi was certain he wouldn't get enough rest knowing she might not make it home.
So, for the sake of his peace of mind and her safety, it was only convenient that he drive her home. After all, he wouldn't sleep anytime soon and he didn't mind driving for the next two hours.
Zoey stared at his determined eyes before the corner of her lips curled into a mischievous smirk. "Kiss me first."
