Kapitel 18: Don't tell me what to do.
Who is that ?" Samantha asked Lisa wipping her tears.
" Last time I checked, he was your husband."
" I don't think that's him." Samantha thought.
" You seem confused, are you ok?"
" You are the one who rudely threw my packet of cigarettes in the trash bin. I remember the arrogance in your voice." Samantha exclaimed.
Because she was blind and didn't know how Dr Nigel looked like, to her Thanos was solely a different person. She only had to listen to his voice to know that.
Thanos looked at her, and couldnt help being flustered, although he was happy that atleast she remembered him from that day he went to her house.
She looked a little disappointed that it was him.
" What is your name?"Samantha asked him.
" Dr Thanos, You can call me Thanos."
Samantha couldnt help but laugh.
" Thanos? as in avengers' Thanos? That's you name?"
" You heard me, there is no lawn mower here my dear wife."
Lisa chuckled at Thanos' remark.
" Ok, no need to be a douche. Thanos it's nice to meet you again."
" How long do you think it will take before the results come out?" Samantha asked him.
" It shouldn't be long." Thanos told her.
He went and sat on the bed close to her. Samantha felt a little uncomfortable having Thanos sit that close to her.
Lisa could see how stiff Samantha's expressions and body language was but she also knew that Samantha had some sort of feelings for the doctor. It didn't matter to Lisa because she knew it was just one person, but a very crazy one.
There was a knock on the door and the doctor with two other doctors, a nurse and three intern doctors came in.
" Sorry for making you wait this long Mrs miller."
" This is doctor Woods, he is a hematologist. and this is doctor Lang, an oncologist."
" ummm" Samantha nodded.
Doctor Lang started explaining to Samantha.
" They had sent a sample of your blood to our department for a cell examination. An initial blood count shows an abnormal white cell count which is leaning to a leukaemia prognosis. So we will need to carry out a bone marrow aspiration and a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis and identify the specific type of the leukaemia."
Thanos looked at Samantha,the whole time the doctor was speaking. She was nodding at everything the doctor was saying. He didn't know whether she understood what was being said or that she had shut down. Lisa on the other side was holding Samantha's shoulders tightly as it to steady herself.
" You are hurting me Lisa."
" Am sorry Sam."
Lisa was quietly crying, she didn't want Samantha to know so she went and sat on the couch.
" Is the bone marrow aspiration and biopsy going to hurt my baby?"
The doctor looked at Thanos before answering Samantha.
" No, it's fine."
"Then no problem. Let me know when you are ready for me, I would like it if it can be soon because I want to go home." She said with a smile that looked almost convincing.
The doctor and his entourage left the room together with Lisa who couldn't control her emotions.
Still sitting on the bed with Thenos close to her. She felt suffocated.
She stood up and with the guidance of the bed railings, she managed to find her bed side table with a cup and a jug of water.
" Do you want anything?"
" No."
" Where are you going then?"
" To get a cup of water."
" Let me do it for you."
" No."
" It's ok, let....
" I said Nooo..."Samantha screamed.
" Easy.." Thanos told her, "get yourself a cup of water then."
She clenched her teeth and threw the jug on the floor.
" You won't tell me what to do."
" Ok, I won't." Thanos' heart hurt so much.
His eyes sting.
Samantha breathed heavily. It was pent up anger that had accumulated for months, even years.
She started shivering from the fear of having a cancer. In one day, she found out she was pregnant for no one knows whose and that she might have cancer.
How unlucky can one be?
She slowly walked back to her bed and sat back down. Thanos went to her and hugged her. She tried to push him away but he held her so tightly, she gave up trying and let him be.
" I'll be here for you Sam, you are my responsibility, let me be with you, Ok?"
He didn't get anything out of Samantha."
When the door opened, it was a nurse with a wheelchair for Samantha.
" Am here to get you Mrs Miller."
Laying on a table on her side. Dr Woods with a hollow needle was inserted into the born and a syringe was used to suck out a small amount of liquid bone marrow. After the bone marrow aspiration, they performed a bone marrow biopsy removing a small piece of bone and marrow and everything was sent to the pathologist for examination.
" We will let you know when we pathology report. and with that they discharged Samantha.
