My stomach heaved up and down, my mouth taking in constant satisfying breaths of air. I looked back at the past hour listlessly and felt myself cursing at the eventful time.
So after killing one of the two shinobi back then, I fell down in exhaustion. Luckily, I wasn't knocked unconscious so I ran away as soon as I can when I felt a little of my stamina go back up. It was surprisingly fast but it left me hungry afterwards.
However, running wasn't the cause for my current short of breath. It happened shortly after I got a good distance away from the shinobi I killed, running through the nearby forest for another safety measure.
I should have expected it then but I was too busy running away in panic at the thought of being followed, oblivious at the ruckus and noise I made as well as two pairs of eyes that watched me quietly. My rationality came a bit too late and I had to face two wolves all alone. While battered up.
I let my breath slow down and let out a chuckle.
I stared at the two wolves besides me with pride. I fought on both and won. It was a hard battle, they outclassed me in terms of speed and number but I played it smart by weaving through the trees. I took them down with my effort which I'm happy for...
But I can't even keep count of the times I nearly died at the claws of the two persistent bastards.
If I had a choice I definitely would have avoided a fight like that, especially since It wasn't long ago since I fought the previous shinobi. Just recalling the series of fights made my muscles ache and let me tell you right now, saying my body was tired would be a massive understatement.
However...
I shook my head and smiled weakly "At-least this solves my hunger"
Another few minutes of rest was spent on laying weakly on the grass before I went over to my kills. Looking at it more closely, I really don't feel as proud anymore.
There were so many cuts along the two wolves' body when in actuality, someone else more experienced would have only needed a few.
I sighed, steeling my stomach as I unsheathed the sword on my waist before skinning the bodies. I'm really not sure if using a sword was good or not but its not like I have a choice so I shrugged.
After patiently running my sword through the skin of the two wolves, I got rid of all the skin and threw the waste while awkwardly carrying it through my arms.
I finally got a clear look of my work but... even though I haven't seen other people skin animals before, I'm pretty sure the way I handled mine was worse than crude.
"It'll do" Again I shrugged, it's not like I would be able to eat everything my myself anyway.
The hard part came after skinning. First I had to start a fire. I don't know how those guys from television did it through two sticks so instead I abused my sword once more and slid a rock through the blade a few times.
It wasn't too hard. Though it wasn't a surprise after thinking about it. My new strength most likely increased the friction generated.
Anyway, after hauling the wolf bodies and skewering them through a stick, I put in on top of my campfire. It looked like it would take some time for it to finish cooking so I used this chance to collect my thoughts.
So, I already know I'm in the anime 'Naruto' and from the two shinobi I saw, I'm probably close to Kumogakure which means The Land of Lightning. There wasn't much things known about this place so I'll have to wander through the land blind.
I also have a slight idea on the timeline from what I heard fighting against the two previous shinobi. I don't know whether it was from hunger or fear but my stomach turned heavy at possibility from the shinobi's words... if it's true, then I'm most likely in the middle of the Second or Third Shinobi World War.
The episodes regarding those wars flashed through my head and brought a cold shiver on my neck. I shook my head. Getting out of these fields of forests, mountains and rivers would come first.
And my best chance of doing so was from that weird moment when I fought against the two shinobi and wolves. I remember my body suddenly moving and wielding the sword proficiently. But those only occurred when I was in danger so I can't exactly fully rely on it unless I know more about it.
What I'm at least sure of is the increased strength and speed of my body. It's got me through so much things so far.
As and avid gamer and educated weeb, there was something I could relate these weird things to, and that was...
"Menu" I called out a bit awkwardly, that feeling however changed when a small white window appeared and floated in front of me. I read through the menu and found four additional tabs.
Menu

I'd like to stay I stayed calm but as soon as my eyes lied on the familiar window, I blanked out, my thoughts running astray.
"... I really do have a system" This fantasy I had during my days growing up had been chucked out when I hit adulthood. I knew how to separate fiction from reality like every adult... Yet this fantasy really existed.
I calmed myself down after breathing quietly. I was still excited but I made sure to observe everything thoroughly so with a tap, I opened the first tab; Status.
Another window replaced the menu as soon as I do so.
