The soldiers flooded through the broken gateway, compressing against each other while soldiers on the other side tried holding firm against the enraged horde rushing towards them.
Behind the wall of soldiers, mages stood as support, part of the last defense of the burning fortress' outside. This quickly caught Venator's eye, switching to using ice.
In front of the charging army, he began ascending upwards, trying to stay on the quickly rising pillar before jumping back down behind them.
The mages turned back, their hands filled with an assortment of elements to fight, the wave quickly crashed into the hollow but firm line of fighters, desperately pushing and fighting back.
Energy and thrill overwhelmed Venator's mind from the drink, feeling the sense of danger in him wash away as he looked towards the mages with an eagerness to fight.
Before he could begin to attack, they began assaulting him with their magic, a mix of fire, water, and ice slammed into Venator as he began creating another pillar to hide behind. Venator started catching his breath, looking down at his blade and his burning hand.
"The rest are probably deeper in this place." He thought to himself.
As the mages began to flank around, Venator charged straight at the first one, narrowly dodging the stream of fire, his blade slashed across the mage's body, quickly sending him to the ground.
"Korimis!" A female voice exclaimed in shock.
Venator ran towards the next one, his blade met an axe's head, Venator swung his sword around, the mage began moving around in quick steps and cautious moves, parrying each attack.
Venator began throwing blue flames towards the other mages around him, stopping them from trying to provide aid to their ally.
The fight came to an abrupt end, behind them, the soldiers broke through the thin line. Immediately ,the mages began running, getting cut down in their path while Venator watched as the horde flooded the street around him.
Warriors clad in armor set homes alight, intensifying the fires already happening inside the fortress.
Splitting off to different streets, their raiding and pillaging continued on.
Venator joined up with the army, feeling slight disappointment at the sudden end of his fight.
The sound of screams and yelps of fighters or normal people alike roared in Venator's ears while he tried to drown it out with thoughts of fighting more mages.
They descended deeper into the fortress, more walls of enemy fighters stood on different streets, ceasing the charge.
With little thought, Venator quickly moved in front of the group, sheathing his sword and preparing his blue flames.
Soon, Venator's pursuit of mages turned into crowd clearing, using his fire, he began running around to different streets, taking as much fighters down as possible for the rest of his allies.
Soon, every street burned in bright fires, chunks of wood and stone falling off each one.
Deeper down the fortress, a large walled off castle stood, on the walls, archers were already posted, ready to fire when needed, on the gates, soldiers stood away just at the entrance of the fortified stronghold, but none of them were carrying swords, only shields and round balls in their hands.
"Soldiers! Formation!" The General yelled, with Venator they both moved back to the formation behind. A square formation of shields facing all directions marching head on with haste.
Going closer, the fighters raised their hands up, in a single motion, they threw the balls towards the soldiers. All at once, fire and explosions tore through the tightly bound men, sending them flying through the air and to the ground.
In just seconds, a large hole into the formation was open.
Buildings standing taller and larger than the ones of Bellunamien's began shattering down from the explosions.
Venator's hands quickly turned back to ice, aiming it above and in front, walls of ice took shape.
In only a few balls of expanding orange light, the walls shattered, sending shards into Venator, covering his face with his cloak while the ice barrier broke down from more explosions.
Shards burrowed into his skin, causing him to grunt in slight pain before looking back at the fighters.
Their arms raised up to throw another volley, Venator looked at them one more time, with his hands aimed towards them, a blue unrelenting beam of fire was let loose. The fighters began running around, dropping the balls on the ground below them.
Their screams quickly turned silent as the balls blew up beneath them, forming a path through.
The injured were helped up, reinforcements and more soldiers from behind began assaulting the remaining streets, filling the entire city's inside with Bellunamien warriors, all fighting for vengeance and an end to the war.
The General and Venator ran forward once more, moving past the broken line of fighters to the gate.
The momentum was now on their side, turning the tide on the enemy, archers continued firing from above at the soldiers while footmen rapidly formed up on the gates to perform a last stand, the walls were soon packed with bowmen, carrying bows or more explosive balls.
Enemy fighters were all scattered as most began fleeing for the gate, many began fighting back against the soldiers, taking as much with them as possible.
Venator and the army group reached the gates of the wall, shields raised upwards while soldiers rained fire upon them, Venator hid under while he observed the hastily formed wall of fighters, defending the gate.
Annoyed by the bombardment, Venator stepped slightly out of the shields, raising his hands up, a thin line of blue fire managed to land on top of the wall, halting the arrow hail as archers burned or ran away from it.
As the fires burned on, more figures leapt through it, landing on the ground in front of their allies.
"More mages?" Venator asked, turning his attention to them.
In a split second, one of them struck Venator and his army with a large flood of water, sending them backwards, Venator quickly began forming a pillar to not get swept away. Behind him, the soldiers were all thrown back farther away, leaving him alone with the mages.
Men and women, all bearing steel armor and plates encompassing all parts of their body except the head stood, their faces looked older than Venator, all having experienced much combat as they looked at Venator with jaded expressions.
"Come out and fight us you rat!" A deadened voice yelled out.
"They seem to be more experienced in warfare, perhaps far more than me even. Hopefully the energy from the bottle helps." Venator thought, studying and planning as he continued to hide.
