"Hey, are you okay?" After asking the girl I heard crying this, she went silent of a moment.
Answering in a quiet timid and quivering voice the girl said stuttering, "No. I'm so scared, I have no idea how I even got here. I just know that whatever they are trying to do to me and the other is torturous."
Though I can't see her, I can tell how scared she is. Whatever is happening here, it breaking people. "What are they doing here? All I know is what I heard before I passed out and ended up here, that this is some sort of lab." Silence reigned for a moment, before the girl answered my question.
"From what I've seen of the boy in your cell last, they are trying to change people's race. The boy, Jimmy, had a weak bloodline from what I know and couldn't handle the change and died. But what I noticed is that instead of looking human like before he came, he was now a bear-kin. For me, I think their trying to make me a High-Human." Pausing several time throughout her explanation to not break down, she took several minutes to finish. Hearing her about to break down like when I heard her earlier, I decided it was probably a touchy subject.
"So, what's your name, I'm Tess," I say as I move away from the subject in a friendly tone. Hoping to get to know each other, I posed this question to her.
I hear some surprise in her voice, probably from dropping the subject. "I'm Talia, thanks for asking."
Talking back and forth for some time, we learn more about each other. Through our conversation I learned that she is even shorter than me. Even looking much younger than her age, a problem that has plagued all the women of her moms family. She has platinum blonde hair down to her mid back, and eyes shifting between green and gold, as a result of the experiments. Apparently the healers, like her use both the light element to amplify their life element.
Over the hour we talked about a lot of things, I had found out that because most people don't have strong enough bloodlines, or negative reactions to her experiment most didn't last long. She had been here for almost a month with five neighbors other than me. Along that same line of told her that I had a pretty potent bloodline, which I found out was a blessing and a curse. A blessing in that I wouldn't die, but a curse as well because I'd want too.
"Did you have any parents, you know before coming here?" Finally feeling safe to ask the question, I found out she did, before.
"I did, but they killed my parents, and abducted me and my brother. He died not long after we got here." A heavy silence fell on us as Talia said those words.
"I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have brought it up," I say to her feeling terrible for reminding her of the event. "Anything else you want to know about me," I ask her trying to move past the situation.
"What about your family?" Talia asked this hoping for a better answer, unfortunately she wouldn't get it.
"I'm and orphan," I left her. 'Might as we'll be one,' I thought to myself angrily. Tears stream down my face as I lose myself in the memory.

"Hey mom, dad can I talk to you in private for a minute, there's something I want to tell you," I asked nervously.
"Ya, of course Winter, we'll see you in the study room in a minute," mom said to me.
Nodding to her I went to the study and waited a short moment for my parent to come in. As they walked in she asked me what it was I wanted to talk about. "There's something I've wanted to tell you two for a while, I don't just like guys, I also like girls," I said deciding to not tell them I was dating a girl from school yet.
"No you aren't, Jenson's aren't queers," my dad said with a heavy emphasis on queers, filled with disgust.
"Dad that's not how it works, I don't choose to like girls, that's just who I am. You have to accept that," I said cringing at his words but still saying my piece.
"If that's how you see it then we have no choice," he said as he looked at mom and she nodded. "You have an hour to pack up and get out, we don't want you infecting Jack." Saying this emphasizing infect, the both walked out of the room.
