"Let's go home then." Huo Zenghai said with a warm smile as he placed a hand on the small of Hua's back and led her towards the parking. Xi Hua nodded with a shy smile as she said, "I'll catch you later." with a wave of her hand and left with Zenghai.
Yu Chen watched their backs retreating with a smile on her lips. She felt Xia wrap a comforting arm around her shoulders and she leaned sideways into his embrace as she said, "I'm going to miss her always being around."
"Change is the only constant thing in life." Si Xia said, rubbing her arm. "Besides, you'll see her almost as much as before. We're all still gonna hang out and you and Hua have got a lot of planning to do." he added with a chuckle as Yu Chen groaned. "God, you're right!! I'm the maid of honor! I'm gonna have to plan so many parties until her wedding!?!?" she whined.
Si Xia laughed and said, "Come on. Let's get you home."
Two weeks later. . . . .
Yu Chen sat with her head in her hands and newspapers all around her on the floor of the living room of her apartment when the doorbell rang.
She got up and went to open the door, running her fingers through her hair to make them presentable. Chen's face lit up like the sun as she opened the door. "Hii!!" she exclaimed and pecked Si Xia on the cheek, who was standing in the doorway, still in his work clothes.
Xia warmly smiled and ruffled Chen's hair as he walked in. "Is it too cold out?" Yu Chen asked, helping Si Xia out of his coat. "No. Spring will come early this year, the snow's already melting." he replied and walked into the living room, followed by Chen, who asked, "What do you want? Juice? Beer?"
"I'll have some beer." Si Xia spoke, and laughed at Chen's surprised face, who had already pulled out two cans of orange juice. "I am an adult you know." Xia spoke with a chuckle, "You're still looking?" he added, looking around at all the paper strewn about.
Yu Chen nodded as she slumped on the couch and put two cans of beer on the table. "This apartment really is too costly to live alone. Plus, it's impracticable." she said.
"And yet you won't move in with me." Xia said as he sat down beside Chen, picked up one beer for himself and handed the other to Chen. Yu Chen sighed as she opened the can, "I just - I just want to stand at my own feet before - before I . . . ." "I get it. Don't worry. We don't have to rush." Si Xia cut her off and rubbed her arm.
Chen smiled tiredly as Xia asked, "What happened in the meeting with the investor today?" Yu Chen shook her head and Xia wrapped an arm around her. "Don't worry. You're gonna figure it all out." he said.
"I hope so." Chen said before she let out a chuckle and cuddled Xia. "I just - had no idea growing up was gonna be such a hassle." she said.
Si Xia also let out a chuckle and said, "And that is coming from a prodigy. I shudder when I think about the rest of us."
