Kapitel 48: Call from home
All four of them left in the apartment went over the code for a last time and agreed to meet early morning the next day to reach the venue of the competition early.
They all hung out for some more time and left. Yu Chen fell on the bed, thinking about tomorrow. It was the day she had come back to change. If the competition went good, she would have changed her entire life. She would get a scholarship to study computers abroad and could leave everything behind.
As she was thinking about the competition, her phone rang. She picked it up to see that her mother was calling. She felt a little guilty, she had called home only once since she had come back to her high school days. Her parents lived in a small village quite a way from the city where Yu Chen was studying. It was a beautiful village with beautiful forests surrounding it having exotic and pretty plants. She made up her mind to visit her home after the competition. She missed Yu Mian, her little sister and her parents. Thinking all this, she picked up the phone, "Hey Mom, how are you?"
"Don't hey Mom me! Do you even remember that you have a family? Mian has been missing you so much, and you? Probably don't even remember her." shouted a voice from the other end of the phone. It was so loud that Yu Chen had to outstretch her hand, so that her ears would not burst.
When her mother was done, she put her phone to her ear and said, "I love you too Mom. And I definitely miss you all so much. You the most."
Mrs. Yu: "Really?"
Yu Chen: "Definitely. There's no one here to shout, all people talk in normal voices. It's so boring."
There came a voice of a small laughter and then it being suppressed. Then came Mrs. Yu's voice, clearly suppressing her laughter, "How dare you? Just come home, I wil...."
But what was Mrs. Yu going to do, Yu Chen never found. Because at that moment Yu Mian snatched the phone from her mother and said, "Sis sis, is that really you? I've really missed you very much. When are you coming home? I wrote a new story and would love if you could give me your opinion on it."
Yu Chen smiled affectionately, "If you have written it, I'm sure it will be the best of the best. But I will be sure to read it and give it the best compliment I know."
From the other end, Man's voice came sounding as though she was blushing, "Just come quickly sis, I miss you."
Yu Chen: "I really miss you all too. I'll definitely come after the competition and sorting things here."
Yu Mian: "Oh yeah, the competition. How are the preparations going?"
Yu Chen spent the next half hour talking to her family. It was a beautiful time for her. Her father telling her that he was really proud of her, her mother telling her to call often and how she was sure that Chen would win.
The call ended with Yu Mian snatching the phone from her father and shouting, "FLATTEN THEM ALL SIS!!"
Yu Chen cut the call and closed her eyes.
