Old Ren laughed. He looked at the head of the Honor Dojo. "Well, Hiro, it looks like I failed. Aren't you going to treat me to a cup of Sake?"
The head of the Honor Dojo, Hiro, nodded. "Come, we will share a few cups."
Then the two went inside to drink. Alex quietly sat down at the corner of the dojo. Shiina looked at Alex.
"I am Shiina, what is your name?" She asked.
"Alex." He said.
"Are you a card apprentice?" She asked.
Alex shook his head. "I just formed my base card a few weeks ago."
"What?" Shiina was stunned. "Are you telling the truth?"
"I have no reason to lie." Alex said.
"Did you just complete high school?" Shiina asked.
"Yes. What about you?" Alex asked.
"I am a student at the City University, I am in the second year." Shiina said.
"Then have you visited the Card Dimension?" Alex asked.
"Card Dimension?" Shiina raised her eyes. "Yes, I've visited it a couple of times. But it is too dangerous. We only explored a little bit away from the shelter."
"Shelter?" Alex asked.
Shiina nodded. "When we go to the Card Dimension, we enter one of the many shelters. Our planet owns around fifteen shelters. When you enter, you might find yourself in one of these shelters.
The shelters are safe zones. The dangers don't come near the shelters, but I only went in twice, so I don't know much more."
Alex thanked her for the information before he continued to ask. "Which organizations are good to join to enter the Shelter?"
Shiina considered. "I am in the academy alliance so I find it the most helpful. But there are many influences. Most of them have a lot of benefits, but they have many rules. While there are some organizations like Adventure House, which have few rules, but their members don't get much protection. Academy Alliance takes a lot of care of the students, including guiding us under the stewardship of strong professors."
Alex nodded. He felt it was useful to get different perspectives.
After some time Old Ren returned with the head of the Honor Dojo. Alex and Old Ren then returned back to their Dojo.
"How was it?" Old Ren asked.
"They were too weak. Not enough pressure except for the woman at the end." Alex muttered.
Old Ren nodded. "Unfortunately, few people visit dojos now. Even finding that girl was a lucky event. May be dojo crashing won't be too useful. I will think about someone better for you to practice against."
Alex nodded. He asked. "I should work on manifesting a Rank 1 Light attribute card.
Every card that could be formed in in this world had its own absorption formula. One had to follow the formula to precisely absorb the source energy through specific pathways and direct it to the preceding card. So the rank 1 card would be directing the source energy to the base card, rank 2 card to the preceding rank 1 card on its roadmap, and so on.
These absorption formulas weren't available for free. Originally these cards would be obtained in the Card Dimension and then through tons of research, humans were able to device absorption formulas for several of the more basic cards.
Old Ren smiled. "You can look at some of the formulas available at the Card Frontier store. You can also obtain them from the Adventure House. If you want I can purchase some for you."
Alex shook his head. "No need, I'll try to earn the formulas myself."
Alex then entered the Card Frontier VR world. He looked at his points. So far, he received 10 points from the PvP 10 win streak, if he won the 10 streak at the trial tower, he would be able to get 50 points.
Without much ado, he entered the PvP arena and was matched to a player with a 10 streak. The two did not talk much and began fighting, however the match had an audience. It was Storm Desire and a bunch of people from the Warrior University. They had noticed the arrival of 'Your Dad is a Noob' and immediately followed him to the arena.
However, the battle actually got over fairly quickly. Alex used the essence of the wind and water within his moves to quickly defeat his opponents. As he was about to leave, he got a message from Storm Desire.
"Your Dad is a Noob, wait a minute. My friend wishes to challenge you to a private battle." Storm Desire spoke up from the audience.
Alex looked back at Storm Desire and remembered him from a day before. "Why me?" He asked.
"You feel like a challenging opponent for my friend. He is willing to bet on points." Storm Desire said.
"50 points, winner takes all." Alex said.
Storm Desire nodded and brought out his friend from Warrior University. He was one of the top 20 students among the freshmen along with Storm Desire.
Soon, Alex began a private battle with the opponent. The opponent's name was Warrior University Rank 20 Freshman.
When Alex saw this name he had a frown. Storm Desire and the others in the audience also felt like slapping this mad lad. What sort of name was that?
The two began their battle. In a private battle, both would receive two cards each at random and could only use those two cards during the course of the battle.
After the battle began, Alex quickly rushed towards his opponent who had used a fire fortification card and then a wind blade card in quick succession. Alex took out his stick and began to fight.
For the first time, he felt significant pressure while fighting against another player in the Card Frontier. Only the Trials had put pressure on him before.
Now, he fought hard, and decided to activate the smog card he had received and then using his superior senses to put his opponent on the defense.
"You really can instantaneously activate cards, just like Storm Desire said!" The player with the name Warrior University Rank 20 Freshman said.
Alex didn't reply amd the two were fighting through the smog. The opponent suddenly smashed a kick into the air and a flame erupted to match the kick, dispersing the smog.
While Alex was under pressure, he felt a rapid improvement in his style with every clash. His opponent was physically stronger than him that put Alex at a disadvantage. Alex assumed he was a powerful card apprentice.
However, over time he slowly clawed back from a defensive position and at a crucial moment used the other card, which was a Rank 1 Light attribute card, Flash, blinding his opponent instantaneously.
"So this is a Rank 1 Light attribute card." Alex wondered to himself, as he took the opportunity to immediately end his blinded opponent.
