Kapitel 132: Chapter 131: Monster of Gluttony

The dust and smoke of the previous explosion quickly dissipated as the monstrous figure charged out. Blue flames flickered around his body, continuously burning through his skin and muscles, but it would almost instantaneously heal.

The monster had a cruel wide smile on his face, with lightning-like speed, he blurred and appeared before Zenkichi with his arm.

"*****!"

"Shit-!"

Zenkichi cursed, he quickly raised his left hand to conjure a transparent spherical shield in time to block the monster's deadly black claw. The impact caused a shockwave that caused the ground beneath their feet to shatter.

The monster's eyes widened as its claw, that was used to attack Zenkichi, began to split apart all the way to its shoulder, purple blood pouring out.

"?!"

He quickly jumped back, just in time to dodge the sharp blade of Gram and the spiraling divine tip of Rhongomyniad.

The monstrous being, Zeb, looked at its injured arm then at Zenkichi in fascination. Like a child discovering something new for the first time. A twisted grin spread across Zeb's face, his arm was restored in the blink of an eye.

"****" He hissed, no, his voice sounded like a mixed between a cat scratching something and a blade being sharpened; once more offering no coherent words to everyone present.

Zenkichi didn't respond. He instead reached out and clenched his hand, coldly muttering, "Scar Dead."

There was moment of silence. Zeb looked at him with a tilted, confused and intrigue by what he was doing.

"I knew it... His regeneration isn't simple," Zenkichi said, catching the attention of Leonidas, Altria and Mash. As they glanced at him in confusion, he began to explain. "One of my abilities, Scar Dead, allows me to re-open any wound ever inflicted on someone, no matter how old. This extends to mental wounds as well. With how much damage I did with my flames and Encounter, he should ripping apart while trying to regenerate but..."

"Just now, I used it on that... demon or monster. But it didn't work!"

"What?"

"Either it's because his regeneration had evolved and is regenerating so fast that the wounds close before they can even fully reopen, or..." Zenkichi trailed off, his eyes narrowing as he studied Zeb.

"Or what?" Altria pressed, her grip tightening on her weapon, intense magical energy radiating off of her at the ready.

"Or his regenerative ability isn't just healing. It's rewriting his very existence, making it as if the wounds never happened at all," Zenkichi concluded, his voice grim.

Leonidas grunted, slamming the butt of his spear, that he retrieved back, on the ground. "If that's the case, how do we stop him?"

"We need to find a way to disrupt his regeneration," Zenkichi said, determination hardening his features. Switching his demonic power to mana, retracting his demon horns and tail. "Something that can counteract or overwhelm it."

Zeb, sensing their strategy session, let out another guttural roar and charged at them with ferocious speed. Zenkichi tightened his grip on his sword, ready to face the onslaught.

"Let's find out just how much you can take," Zenkichi muttered, projecting dozens of weapons around him in mid-air; mostly swords and spears with Holy elements and were at most C rank Noble Phantasms. Pondering for a moment, he then projected Gae Bolg on his left hand. Twirling the crimson barbed spear and pointing Gram towards Zeb, Zenkichi exhaled.

"Trigger. Off."

The weapons trembled, positioning themselves, and began raining fire on the monstrous figure. The air filled with the sound of metal slicing through the wind and the shimmering light of holy energy.

Each weapon struck with precision, aiming to overwhelm Zeb's regenerative capabilities.

Sizzle

Zeb roared in fury as the holy weapons pierced his flesh, each wound burning with pure Holy energy that slowed his healing. For the first time, he staggered, his movements less fluid, less invincible.

"Keep pressing!" Leonidas shouted, charging forward with his spear raised. Altria and Mash followed quickly, their weapons glowing with magical energy as they joined the assault.

Zenkichi continued on the barrage but was confused. How was he hitting him? He knew his capabilities and seeing the monster's speed, he thought for sure that he'd miss a few and get a lucky hit, but...

'Something's not right.' Brunhilde conveyed.

Zenkichi nodded, feeling the same. Something definitely wasn't right when that thing appeared. According to the original story, there was no mention of some ancient demon like this. Did Gorgon or Tiamat did something to get revenge for Kingu?

No. That guy had his ass kicked and plans ruined a couple of times in the original timeline and nothing like this ever happened.

Then, was it really his presence in this world and caused some kind of butterfly effect?

As he prepared to project a new batch of 'ammo', he then felt the ground beneath him shake and he looked down. His eyes widened as he saw the whole land beneath his feet and several meters around be completely dark, like a shadow.

"Stop! Everyone, jump! Mash, shield them! NOW!"

He then felt a chill run down his spine when he saw numerous red eyes popped up on the 'shadows' beneath him and endless white triangular 'rocks' protruding out all around. He looked up and quickly shouted.

Leonidas, Altria and Mash widened their eyes from hearing his voice. They also felt a chill down their spine, for Altria she saw a few seconds into the future; trusting their instincts and Zenkichi, they all jumped high into the air and Mash lowered her giant shield whilst utilizing her skill: Exalted Impervious Wall of Snowflakes.

Zenkichi jumped several feet into the air, just in time as well, as the shadows surged out like a mouth snapping shut, the triangular "rocks" revealing themselves to be teeth. The ground where they had stood moments before was now a gaping maw, a monstrous shadowy entity attempting to swallow them whole.

Mash's shield held firm against the shadow's relentless assault, the magical energy protecting them all as they hovered above the ground. The red eyes glared menacingly, but the barrier remained impenetrable.

"What the hell is that?!" Leonidas shouted, gripping his spear tightly.

"It's part of Zeb's power," Zenkichi replied, his mind racing. "I don't know but-"

"Jie Jie Jie!"

They all paused and looked down, in the center of the gigantic maw that was certain death, Zeb let out a chilling laughter that echoed through the dark abyss of its mouth.

The ground trembled as the shadowy entity began to shrink and twist, its form contorting and reshaping.

In a blinding flash of light, the shadowy entity dispersed, revealing a figure standing in its place. It was Zeb, but he had transformed. His body was now larger, more grotesque, with twisted horns protruding from his head and his eyes burning with a fierce, otherworldly light.

Zenkichi gritted his teeth, his mind racing to come up with a plan. "This is bad. He's evolved further, transcending his previous form."

"We need to end this quickly," Altria said, her voice resolute. "Before he becomes even more powerful."

Zeb let out a guttural roar, the sound reverberating through the air. He paused, looking seemingly confused.

Then, in an act of barbaric and ruthless, he raised his right claw and plunged the sharp claws deep into its throat.

"W-What is it doing...?" Mash muttered, turning green.

Zenkichi's eyes widened in shock and horror as he watched Zeb impale himself with his own claw. The monstrous figure let out a guttural, almost pained roar, but there was a strange glint of mischief in his eyes.

"He's... sacrificing himself?" Leonidas exclaimed, his voice tinged with disbelief.

"No..." Zenkichi shook his head. "He's... rearranging his vocal chords. He wants to talk to us."

"What? Talking doesn't work like that!"

"Remember. That is not human. It was just born a few minutes ago... I think. So it doesn't have the same level of knowledge and understanding of common sense that we do."

"What do you think it wants?"

Zenkichi glanced at Zeb, who was now struggling to speak through the gaping wound in his throat. "I don't know... But whatever it might be, it won't be good."

He glanced at back at his companions and said, "Kill it. Before it kills us."

They all nodded back and readied their weapons.

"Go!"

With grim expression, Zenkichi and his companions launched themselves into action, their weapons poised to strike at the transformed Zeb. Each of them moved with practiced precision, their movements coordinated as they closed in on their target.

"A..." Zeb, despite his grievous self-inflicted injury, continued to emit an aura of menacing power. His eyes burned with an otherworldly light as he stared down his adversaries, seemingly unfazed by his own actions.

As Zenkichi and the others drew nearer, Zeb let out a low, guttural growl, his monstrous form tensing for battle. With lightning-fast reflexes, he lashed out with his other claw, aiming to strike down his opponents before they could reach him. "E..."

But Zenkichi and his companions were ready. They dodged and parried Zeb's attacks with practiced skill, their movements fluid and precise. Altria dealing more damage and approached him faster with her Holy Lance. Gripping her spear tightly, Altria unleashed a flurry of devastating blows, each strike infused with the power of her divine weapon.

"I... O..."

Several holes appeared on Zeb's body, but the next moment they were all gone, his wounds closing almost instantly. Despite their best efforts, Zeb seemed nearly invincible, his regenerative abilities far surpassing anything they had faced before.

No. Not regeneration.

"He's "eating" our attacks!" He muttered in shock, his realization echoing through the chaos of battle. "Zeb isn't healing from our attacks. He is eating them! Thus erasing his injuries from ever happening. That's why Scar Dead didn't work. What's there to re-open when there's nothing to re-open to begin with."

"Eating them...?! Huh? How is that possible?!" Leonidas said incredulously.

"U... You... That is because," They all froze, hearing a strange voice. It was deep and static like something you hear from a radio.

Turning towards Zeb, they saw a strange phenomenon occurring. With his head lowered, he took out his claw from his throat, blood spilled but it quickly began to evaporate as if it was never there. The wound on Zeb's throat closed up rapidly, leaving no trace of the injury behind. As they watched in stunned silence, Zeb looked up at them.

His lips curled into a sinister smile, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth. The air around him seemed to grow heavier with malice, as if the very atmosphere recoiled from his presence.

"I am the Monster of Gluttony, Zeb. A being that threads upon the domain of the Evils of Humanity-a beast!"

AN: Tried out Wuthering Waves, and it's pretty fucking cool, especially the combat and parkour mechanic. But the only problem I have with it is the freaking lag, it always frustrates me when I do a challenge.
