The leader froze for a bit and then nodded, "His first attempt of assassination failed. But it all happened because that man was just lucky. Boss had planned to drug him and then had asked the mercenaries to kill him. But that didn't go as planned. That man didn't have the drugged drink, instead of him one of our spy had consumed that drink and was mistakenly killed by the mercenaries, thinking that he was the real target. So the plan had failed miserably. From that moment on boss hated whenever the prey didn't fall into his trap. At the least, he would have been less sad if that man had consumed the drink." The leader's voice was barely audible at the end.
"Are you kidding me? Do you think our boss would be a little less sadden if he were to know that the man who was drugged escaped? Wouldn't that be a greater failure? At least boss had a reason to give that the man wasn't even drugged."
The leader shook his head, "Do you think our boss's brain works like a normal person. He is the complete opposite. You better not offend him and don't ever speak in front of him unless asked to, if you don't want your head to be cut off."
The most curious of them spoke this time, "What happened next?"
"Boss was angered by the failure and had killed the mercenaries as well as the spies who were involved in that plan. You know his temper, he is akin to a raging volcano which can erupt at any time, without prior notice. He had later tried several times to kill that man but..." He didn't complete his sentence, leaving the other to assume whatever they wanted to.
He continued, "You see I don't know why he was lucky so many times, and also this time. After getting failure from the continuous assassination, he decided to use some simple people rather than the mercenaries. And you can already see what happened to them."
The leader turned towards the screen on the wall, he unmuted the audio for the barks to be heard clearly this time, which were less audible up until now; due to the wall separating them.
The other four stared coldly at the scene without any emotions as they were trained to be emotionless.
They had seen more crueler scenes that this. They normally lived a happy to go life. They would laugh at jokes and tease each other, but whenever they would come across a bloody scene, then automatically their disposition would change into something bloodthirsty. It was as though they were hypnotized.
Muting the audio the leader continued, "Before coming to Viroflay, I was living in Marseille, which was the boss's hometown. I used to work as a messenger before becoming an mercenary. I used to deliver messages to boss from all over the country and in turn would get handsomely paid for it. One day he offered me this mercenary job and as the pay was high compared to the first job, I readily agreed. After going through a tough training I became a Green card holder. And slowly after accomplishing my tasks and improving my fighting skills, I climbed higher and that's how I became a Red card holder now."
The man they are emphasizing as 'that man' is none other than Emmett. Adam has a deep grudge against Emmett whereas the other one treat him as though he is invisible.
But yes for his girlfriend (future wife) Emmett would make sure that the man is not spared.
