Kapitel 63: Chapter 62 - Team 1

Gin led the three genin to a temple away from the village. The temple itself was small, but every now and again you could see people coming from this direction. Today, no one was here.

"Isn't this…"

Karin started to speak but stopped as her heart felt heavy.

Gin looked at her from the corner of his eye before he turned his attention to the temple.

"It is."

Gin said as he stepped foot inside the temple.

"We aren't supposed to enter…"

Karin spoke softly, but seeing Haruto and Chibi follow behind Gin she also entered the temple.

On the walls were lanterns that lit the inside of the temple giving it some light.

In the center was a frozen statue of the first Kōrikage and an unknown enemy. Many people thought the first was dead, but no one knew for certain. His control over ice was the best in the world, so there was a chance he was still alive. But, it was uncertain and people had their doubts.

Gin approached the statue and touched it gently.

It was cold to the touch, but beautiful at the same time.

"Everytime I come here, I wonder what he was like…"

Gin said as he removed his hand from the statue.

"My grandfather that is…"

Haruto snorted.

Karin's eyes seemed to shine while Chibi was silent, just listening.

Gin was observing their behaviours and taking mental notes in his head. He was not used to being a teacher, it was his first time.

After the third great shinobi war, the Asagao clan was never the same. While many of his family members made a name for themselves, the majority of them died in the process.

Gin secretly looked at Haruto, who was one of the remaining members of the clan. With him, there were only six of them left in the world.

Most of Gin's aunts and uncles died during the second or third war, but a large majority of the family died during the third.

"Today, is the creation of team 1 and therefore I would like to learn a bit more about each of you. Doesn't really matter what you say."

Gin said as he looked over the three genin.

Chibi stood forward. He was a young man with shaggy brown hair and wore his head protector around his neck. Chibi wore a thin grey jacket with some black pants.

"I am Chibi Chinoike, I accel in genjutsu. In the future, I would like to become a Shichibukai!"

Chibi spoke as he held his hands behind his back.

Since he went first, Karin was next considering she stood next to him.

Karin wore a black blouse that cut off before her belly button and a matching skirt. She wore her head protector the proper way while her red hair was tied in a ponytail.

"I am Karin Uzumaki, not really perticaly talented in anything but I have been studying various seals. There is also nothing I would like to do in the future at the moment, but my mind is open to options."

Haruto was the last to speak up.

He wasn't too keen on sharing what others already knew, but he'd play along with Gin.

Haruto covered his short spiky silver hair with his grey hood. He kept his hands in his hoods pocket as his blue eyes gazed at Gin.

"I am Haruto Asagao, the clan that founded this village and the great-grandson of the first Kōrikage. I want nothing more than to gain the respect of those around me with my own strength."

Haruto stated.

Gin chuckled a little listening to Haruto.

Haruto glared at Gin.

"What's so funny."

Haruto asked as he assumed Gin was making fun of his ambitions.

Gin stepped forward and poked Haruto where his heart is.

"Honor is in the heart, not the name. Remember that, it's something the first said a while back."

"In a dark place we find ourselves, and a little more knowledge lights our way. He also said that, but no one knows what it means. Don't go trying to lecture me when we aren't that far apart in age."

Haruto said as he rolled his eyes.

Karin and Chibi looked at each other.

"What are they talking about?"

Karin asked Chibi.

"Probably some clan stuff, you know how that goes. They are both members of a posteigous clan, and are expected to carry on what their ancestors started."

Karin rubbed her head as she listened to the two of them debate about some nonsense.

"Glad my clan isn't like that!"

Karin said as she thought about her clan.

She wasn't too knowledgeable on the subject, but sometime after the first great shinobi war her clan was attacked and fled. Most of them found themselves here in the village shrouded in ice, while others went to different countries.

Gin stopped bothering Haruto, there was no need to argue with a child. Besides, Haruto always assumed people expected him to be great, when really all their family wanted was for him to be happy.

"We meet again in two days."

Gin told the three genin.

Chibi raised his hand.

"Sensei, is there not supposed to be a test for us tomorrow?"

Gin sighed.

That dumb tradition to see which genin were really suited to take the next step into becoming proper shinobi.

"Yeah… we aren't doing that. Just meet again in two days. You're dismissed."

Gin said and walked away from the temple making sure all three of them left.

Chibi looked a little sad, while Karin was happy.

Haruto stood next to Gin as they watched the other two leave the site.

"You should return home sometime, mom says you've been hard to reach lately."

Haruto said as he looked at the fading backs of Chibi and Karin.

"Well, i've been busy. I'll return to the clan home when i'm ready, until then she can wait a bit longer."

Gin replied back to him.

Looking down at Haruto he saw the image of a girl in his head.

"How's your sister doing by the way?"

Haruto raised his eyebrow as he looked up at Gin.

"Same as always. She just returned from a mission not that long ago, if you were to visit you'd be able to see how she was doing herself."

Gin shook his head.

He wasn't sure how he could face her. After everything that happened, he just couldn't find the words nor courage to confront her. Not yet at least.

"Has the third found any information on Vi? It's been a while since her disappearance."

Haruto asked.

"We don't talk much, not after the war. Losing all his siblings except Vi in that war… it changed him."

Haruto snorted.

"No wonder you turned out the way you are."

Gin shook his head and his body disappeared.

Haruto clicked his tongue.

"Could at least say bye or something!"
