Kapitel 51: Chapter 50 - Surpassing the master

Over the course of the next few days, Ernie traveled around the land of fire mostly observing things. He was getting a general feel for various clans, while also spotting some clans he remembered from the anime.

On a few occasions Ernie got involved in some matters that he felt were simple. In turn, he was given an item to choose or food in return. Ernie told the clans he held where they could send the goods, hoping they would see how village and become interested enough to move there.

Eventually, he made his way back to his home.

His journey wasn't the best of the best, but it still gave him valuable experience.

At the entrance he could see slight changes in the village already. There were now paths outside of the village that led to various areas in the land. From where Ernie was standing, he could see a few people traveling along those small roads.

To his right was a tall building, which if he wasn't mistaken was the barracks. It housed all the ninja who wanted to protect the village, and they patrolled the village or kept watch over the gates.

As he stepped inside, Ernie could see that the arena was built again, but this time it looked more like a stadium. Not to far away from it, he could see the structure of another building starting to be put together.

That building would be fairly large and hold multiple classrooms, as it is where the young children would attend to learn not only about the world but about how to be a shinobi.

Along the way to his home, Ernie was greeted by villagers. He felt happy on the inside that things were coming along nicely. He also happened to spot a few faces he's never seen before.

"Hina! Himari! I'm home!"

Ernie shouted as he opened the door to his house.

"Uncle Ernie!"

Little Nozomi was the first one to rush out as she ran up and grabbed Ernie's leg hugging him with a sweet smile.

"Welcome back!"

Hina said as she greeted Ernie.

Her clothing changed to a less fitting one to a more loose fitting. It was all to let her stomach grow, which Ernie could tell it was. However, he would never comment on it.

"What'd you bring me back?"

Nozomi asked as she tugged Ernie's pants leg.

Ernie bent down and rubbed her hair as he pulled out a long beautiful wooden needle.

"What's this?"

Nozomi asked as she twirled the long needle around in her hands seeing if it had some other function.

"It's a hair pin. You can use it to put your hair in a pun."

Ernie told her as he grabbed the hair pin from her and placed it in her hair.

"Or, you can use it like this to create a new style."

Little Nozomi's mouth opened wide as she grabbed the hair pin and ran out of the house. She wanted to show her parents what she got from her uncle.

Ernie hugged Hina and kissed her.

"How was the trip?"

Hina asked him as the two of them parted.

"It wasn't what I was expecting, but then again I don't really know what I was expecting from this trip. I did meet someone I know though, so it was interesting to talk to them."

"There's been a lot going on since you left. We aren't the only people living in this area, we happened to find a small but strong clan called Kobayashi. They have been living in this land for years, and somehow they are able to deal with the giant beast without much of a problem.

So far we have been talking to them about having them join us, but things have not progressed so well. I've been helping overlook the village construction and everyone has been working hard. We've completed six new buildings and are in the process of starting the seventh. Aito and the others said they wanted these buildings to be close to the heart of the village which is why we focused on them."

Hina explained to him in return.

Ernie listened to her and was happy to see her talk so excitedly about the progress the village was making. He knew it wouldn't be too long before they surpassed their old villages progress.

"Where is Himari? I haven't seen her."

Hina turned her head.

"She's back in the forest. She's been trying to perfect that jutsu you taught her, Wind Breaker."

"Hopefully she's not putting a strain on her body."

Ernie replied.

"Relax, she's not a little girl Ernie. She knows her limits, besides she's not able to do much of anything else right now. Considering everyone in the village is forbidding us from working too hard or doing much of anything. You know she hates being still for too long, if she can't even train I think she'll go crazy."

Ernie laughed a little.

Hina wasn't wrong, Himari would become restless if she sat still for too long. She needed something to do, and training was a good way to keep her busy but focused.

"Let's go check on her progress?"

Ernie asked as he looked at Hina.

She nodded and the two of them headed off in Himari's direction.

"Ha!"

Ernie spotted Himari as she slammed her palm against a thick tree. She wasn't circulated any chakra or condensing the wind into her palm, it was just a normal palm strike.

The two of them watched her in silence.

"Yes, this is it. I need to capture this feeling, in one fluid motion."

Himari said to herself as she took a step back.

Spreading her legs and taking a stance, Ernie could see wind gathering in the middle of her palm. At first, it looked like Naruto's signature move, rasengan. However, after the ball of wind stayed in her palm, it began to become smaller until it was the size of a golf ball.

Everything happened almost instantly from the gathering to the condensing. Himari's palm struck the tree.

"Ha!"

She shouted, the tree seemed to vibrate for a second but stopped.

Himari slowly removed her palm, and Ernie could see there was a small hole where she struck. Seconds later cracks spread all over the tree as if it was a fragile vase that had been hit too hard.

After two seconds, the entire tree shattered into little pieces.

Ernie was shocked. Was this still the move he taught her? To him, it seemed entirely different, or it could just be that Himari was more talented than him and perfected Wind Breaker into her own image.

Guess this is what one calls, student surpassing the master.
