Kapitel 4: Shadow fires curse

I woke up and had a sharp pain going through my body like being stabbed a thousand times but I wasn't bleeding. It hurt so much that started screaming "Alex are you ok,Alex". suddenly my pain faded I saw nothing but black. I heard a voice but couldn't understand what it said. I opened it my eyes and I was at the hot spring "big brother look at your arms" said Gino holding back tears. My arms were covered in small black scales with a tinge of purple the whisps wrapped around my arms and the scales vanished. Sensei was sitting on a nearby rock smoking his pipe "what happened to me sensei" I asked him he was silent for a moment "your body is not ready for the amount of shadow fire you've been using you'll have to keep training your body make your muscles stronger to make your magic cells flourish then you can use shadow fire without damaging your body". " your sister will stay here you must go see a friend of mine" sensei had said this in way that made me unsure. He told me to go to the west past the great desert I packed a bow I had made a couple years ago and made some arrows to Gino wouldn't let go of my arm she kept saying that I have to hurry back over and over again to the point it was rather annoying. I took the path on the other side of the river through the forest again and headed west I don't know how distant the great desert is from here. it's been three days and I'm just going deeper and deeper into the forest scattered about was broken statues and pillars overgrown with vines and trees the further I went the trees got closer together and it was really quite my heartbeat sounded like a drum there was hardly any animals except for the occasional bird. I got dark but with the trees canopy, I can't tell if it's night or day. after a few hours of walking the tree canopy opened up and it was day time I kept walking the trees started moving away from each other the silence I had endured for hours was gone nearby birds were chirping and the cicadas were buzzing. I saw five rabbits running through the trees and was able to snag two of them and sat down for a while toll night came and decided to sleep. A few days passed and the trees parted to a large lake there were a few small fishing docks scattered about and people were in a boat fishing. I had to get around the lake on the other side was a vast plain that stretched for miles I could see a farmers house off in the distance. walking through the village one of the roads was dedicated to market stalls but there were only two stalls one of the vendors said to me that we would buy my rabbit pelts they were in good condition he gave me fifteen silver coins in the capital I probably would've gotten ten. as I left the village a girl about my age she had short red hair and freckles stripping her nose she shook her head at me and dragged to a nearby inn it was run by her parents. "my name is Mere Linn" she said she had pretty smile "why did you drag me here against my will" I asked sternly

"you were about to go to a very dangerous place I had to stop you before you got yourself killed" she started to tell me a story about the woods on the other side of the lake the locals call it the black woods. she told me that a witch lives in the forest and she doesn't like visitors so anyone who enters never comes back. she said every once in a while kids tend to disappear and are never found her mom's sister and her dad's sister disappeared. when we finished talking it was night so I got a room for the night and some food. I need to keep going west but if that story is true it could make things difficult I may need a sword my body still isn't ready for a strong enough shadow fire attack I could try a new spell sensei did say that I might be able to and it wouldn't damage my body but how? I had fallen asleep but had a weird dream there was an ocean and I was sailing on some ocean surrounded by a thick black fog in front of me was a girl with long black her eyes were glowing silver and her skin was pale she wore a black dress with white stockings and red ribbons tying her hair into two ponytails she couldn't have been any older than me. when she spoke her voice was soft and squeaky

"I am Asura, unfortunately, I am unable to visit you outside the spirit world" she explained that she was a shadow spirit and she wanted to be my familiar when I could wield her power but she could still supply me with mana the very essence of magic from the spirit world. She said that in order to learn more spells I need a shadow grimoire and when I have that it will reveal spells when it feels I'm ready for them. "how can I find this shadow grimoire". I asked her. she looked out towards the ocean " I sensed one in that black forest I can't tell exactly where it is but I can tell it's guarded by a powerful shadow witch". she turned to me and smiled she was so pretty to me I couldn't say anything. suddenly I woke up by a jolt there was a knock on the door it was mere she told me that the inn was serving breakfast and that I have to hurry or her father would eat all the bacon. I haven't had bacon in years I thought to myself I got dressed and went downstairs their area was small and had to tables side by side with four chairs each. As I ate I couldn't stop thinking about Asura and what she said. the door to the kitchen opened and a rather large man walked out he's was fat but looked rather strong he reminded of a bear he had a thick beard that was greying in spots where it wasn't grey was fiery crimson like Mere's hair.

He had a deep raspy voice when he spoke "My little mere told me you are going to enter the black woods yesterday you shouldn't go in there you won't come out" he said as he crossed his arms. "I have too I need to keep heading west I need to cross the great desert". He laughed he told me that 300 years ago a water mage named Asyphus turned the desert into a vast ocean that makes this even more difficult I thought to myself thinking what would sensei do. " If you're that insistent on going my brother in the next village over is blacksmith it's three days north of here". "father!" mere blurted out her face turning red like her hair. There was a loud explosion outside shaking the entire inn I rushed outside to see a giant man with large muscles he had a large bear fur as a cloak and a large scar across his face. He was setting nearby houses on fire with magic he was killing innocent people who were running for their lives. He looked my way and started walking towards me "You're that runt lady Sekrin told me to slaughter" he said laughing like a maniac. He shot a flame at the inn destroying it in one blast Mere screamed as her parents were still inside there was no saving them. I closed my eyes and called Asura to lend me some power shadow fire immediately engulfed my body I felt it send a surge through my body enhancing my stamina like a flash of lightning I was up in his face I threw a hard right fist launching him across the northern fields into a thick tree cracking it enough to topple on top of him he got back "your strong kid but I'm stronger" he said as he intensified his flames. he jumped up trying to attempt an overhead smash he's fast I could barely dodge it I hit with a roundhouse kick but he blocked it grabbing my last and slamming me hard to the ground. The breath was knocked out of my body it was getting harder and harder to breathe as he kicked me around he kicked me one last time sending me into one of the burning buildings. I couldn't get up no matter how I tried I couldn't move then heard Asuras voice telling me to get up I felt an influx of magic power. I heard Mere scream the man was walking towards her I stood up and kicked off the ground destroying the building behind me in an instant I put my fist through his chest. Understandably Mere is crying I told her I'll accompany her to her uncles north of here.
