Kapitel 46: Blazing Dead Trails

I walked around the sandy town where we fought hard and saw the silo open with no life can be seen or heard. I realized how that the end really happened I walked around the small town that was near the hidden bunker. I hear my radio statics as Mr. Porter tries to say something. "Hey kid anything unusual up there in the surface?" Said Porter.

"No, Mr. Porter... There's nothing here all but dead wastelands and corpses." As I looked disgusted at the dead bodies. The wind has been picking up sand so its hard to look around properly. "I see... Anything else up there kid?" Said Porter.

"Not much, if you want rubble and shards of metal and glass." As I reported back to Mr. Porter I looked around to check if there's spare materials that can be useful for us. The dust filled towns has made me worried and a bit alerted since anything can still go after this horrifying incident that ended humanity.

I walked around the buildings and to my surprised I found an old man still breathing on a underground basement. I tended to check if he's okay. "Sir, can you still move?" As I communicate with the man sitting on the chair. "Wh-what? Who are you?" the Man was confused. "I'm a wondering doctor is there anything I can help you, any injuries perhaps? Or maybe sickness?" As I open my medical bag while the man comprehends what had happen. "Food and Water just that." Said the man. "I see I have some food here and spare water if you want."

I gave him one of my water canisters that holds 2 liters of fresh clean water to the man and he immediately eat the food and drink some water. "I suggest you slow down there sir. You might choke." As I say it the man slowed down and continued on while looking at me with a stink eye.

"Say, why are you wondering around this part of town?" Said the man. "Well, I've seen the world go under and as a doctor well doctor in training. I have to help as many people as I can while I can still move." As I sat down taking a break the man looked at me again and said. "It's those darn terrorists that ruined this world into shambles. I'm surprised you found me here I would be a dead man right now if you didn't." Said the man as he gladly continues eating.

After a few minutes the man finished eating and drinking... "I don't think I'll live a long time though, it's nice that you helped me but I'm an old man." I looked at him thinking that he had a point. "Sir, I'm not the one who neglects people in need of help whether the person is young or old. My motto won't be fulfilled if I neglect someone in need I was trained to help anyone at anytime." As I said that the man stood up and walked around the basement for a bit to let his blood circulate.

"Trained? Are you sure you're not forcing yourself in this one kid?" Said the man. "No, Sir. I'm not I know what I've got myself into and I dedicate myself into helping as many as I can." As I reply to his question. "I see, this old man is a bit tired now from eating. I respect your dedication kid, in this deserted world of ours now. I tell ya kid I had a feeling whatever comes with death follows." Said the old man.

"Follows? I mean I'm saving lives how can that happen?" As I reply to the old man's unusual reply. "Nothing, I guess its not you. Be safe out there, oh if you're looking for materials there is a ruined building where the sports complex use to be in. That place was used as a evacuation site." Said the old man.

"Will do, be safe out here sir." As I nod and leave the basement towards the directions the old man gave me. "Hey Kid, you were out of range a few minutes ago did something happen?" Said Porter as I didn't realized my radio was disabled down in that basement. "No, I'm fine I found a survivor who needed help. I'm going to the sports complex the person said that. That place was used as a evacuation site there should be supplies there." As I radio back Porter.

"I see be safe out there kid you're doing the good thing here. Alright keep me updated if there's news out there in the surface." Said Porter as he transmission out of the radio.

A few minutes of walking in sand and broken paths. I saw the sports complex... Or what's left with it that is. The place is a mess rubble everywhere military vehicles disabled due to the effects of the blast. I can use some of the remaining weapons they have... Assuming they're still functional. I entered the abandoned complex seeing a lot of rubble and ruined tables and chairs. Of course dead bodies as well. Radiation ain't much of a problem since most of the casualties were from the collateral damage that the Building took.

I found some floor plans of this complex and seemed like there is a underground area in the complex. I look for it as I walk down the stairs but I felt like somethings off... I had my gun up and ready for some reason. I feel like there's something, unhuman-like about the situation here. Prepared my gun, and activated my APEX system to be more responsive. "Here we go Tom, down we go." As I said these words I saw something... Let's say something instead of someone.
