"This is such a great battle!" the announcer said. "Even though the trainer's Tyranitar has yet to faint, this is the first time we saw him being pushed to the edge. Even that unique energy he uses has calmed down, and he's on the verge of getting his first loss."
The crowd was excited. They could not believe that Tyranitar had been pushed to the edge like this. He looked like he could faint anytime.
Liam looked at Kerras, smirked and said, "I hope you don't think that I've played all my cards." As he took out three more poke balls.
At that moment, Kerras knew that she would lose but surprisingly, she did not give up hope as she ordered Gyarados to use another Hydro Pump on Tyranitar, but Tyranitar used what little strength he had left to dodge the attack as he dived away and as soon as he was out of harm's way, Morteon came out from the shadows and used Curse.
It was causing the stats of Gyarados and Espeon to lower.
Gyarados and Espeon felt a little slow and weakened after experiencing that Curse.
"This has dragged on for way too long…" Liam said. "It is time to finish this."
"Morteon use Shadow Force." Morteon started to glow as a purple aura erupted from her. But suddenly, she disappeared from everybody's sights. The thing that came to Espeon's and Gyarados' hearts was fear as Morteon appeared behind them and struck them with a heavy ghost element attack causing both to faint right away giving Liam the win as the crowd cheered.
Kerras fell to her knees in amazement as both of her Pokémon had been knocked out in one go. She wondered why Liam was holding back this whole time. If he had used that move from the beginning, all her Pokémon would have been defeated. She felt fear of the unknown and fear of how wealthy this unknown person could be. She had never met anybody as strong as him, and for some weird reason, she knew that this would hinder her training from now on.
Liam still had his mask on, but he was smiling through it as he turned around and left, saying, "Thanks for the battle. It was great" after returning his Pokémon.
The announcer then said, "Once again, thanks to everybody for coming to see the match" as they got the stage ready for the next battle.
[Red from Pallet Town Vs. Ethan from New Bark Town.]
Liam heard this and knew he had to see this match. He had not seen Ethan's battles and wondered how it would go. He knew that he obtained the Legendary Pokémon Suicune.
Ethan was a local around Johto, so plenty of people came to see his match, unlike Red. As soon as the battle started, Team Rocket, as in, Jesse, James and Meowth once again were chasing after Ash's Pikachu which Ash was able to take care of quickly and this time, Pikachu used Thunderbolt and Ethan brought out his fire pokemon and used a combined charged Flamethrower Thunderbolt, as Team Rocket blasted off again.
The battle continued as they got back. Red was quickly defeated, which surprised Liam, but at the same time, it made sense as Ethan was using a Legendary Pokémon, so he wiped Red off the block using that one Pokémon as the crowd cheered for their local hero.
Red was quite disappointed. He thought it was not fair that Ethan could use a Legendary Pokémon and that no ordinary Pokémon could beat them. Still, he had no choice but to leave the stage and be disappointed. He had met up with Liam on the way out as Liam tried to cheer him up and told him that he would get revenge for him.
'This Ethan guy is pretty strong', Liam thought. 'It seems like Shadow will be making an entrance if Tyranitar and others are not able to take care of this water dog. I should probably get Mewtwo into my lineup that way, I would have assurance, and as for Entei, I need to get in control of him. If I can use him freely; he would be quite the matchup against Suicune even though Suicune's weakness would make them go head- to head. It should be able to drain him for the others to take him down.'
'I'll also have to change my appearance. That way, nobody would recognize him and connect the dots. It seems like I still have a lot of work to do.'
Liam then left and went back to his place with his family.
"Sheila, I have to go and train, so I'll be out of town for a little bit, but I should be back by tomorrow morning. Don't worry about me." Sheila could only nod her head, and she did not have the power to stop Liam from going anywhere and was just happy that he was able to follow his dreams. She was also enjoying herself being out of that small town and in a big city.
"Okay, my dear husband. Please enjoy yourself and be safe. Come back home safely." Liam nodded his head as he departed from the area.
