"Now let's see... #130127. Here's your equipment Joshua. "
Merlin gave me three boxes. "#142637. Michelle, here you go. "
Merlin gave her a long box and two smaller boxes.
"Iris of Iron and Blood. "
He handed Amelia two boxes.
"People's Champion. "
He handed Albert two boxes.
"And this is yours manager. "
Merlin gave the manager a large box.
"You may open those boxes later. I'll have the limousine drive you to your homes. " Merlin said.
"Alright then. Let's go. " the manager said.
We then left the tower.
"I'll be dropping off at the convenience store. " said the manager.
"You three, we'll have a meeting on Saturday. Clear your plans. " she told us.
"Right. "
"Alright! "
"Alright. "
"Knight of Iris, do you have any plans on Saturday ? " she asked Amelia.
"No. " she replied.
"Then please come to the store on Saturday if possible. Oh. It's time for me to go. See you tomorrow. "
The manager left the limo.
"Are you going Amelia? " Albert asked.
"Yes. We are probably going to talk about the world enders. I'll just follow Joshua to the store. " she replied.
"I see. Do you live near each other? " he asked.
"I actually live together with him. " Amelia replied.
Albert placed a hand on my shoulder and gave a thumbs up.
"Eh? "
"Joshua... I know I'm living with Albert and all, but he's a gentleman... Don't do anything stupid okay? An entire nation will kill you... "
Michelle looked at me with worried eyes.
"...Hey. Why are you looking at me like that?... " I asked her.
"I'm actually doing fine. Joshua has been treating me well since I was transported to this world. " Amelia said.
"Oh right! My name's Michelle! Nice to meet you! "
Michelle extended her hand to Amelia.
"My name is Amelia. Nice to meet you too. "
Amelia shook her hand.
"Michelle, give me your luggage. We're already here. " Albert told her.
"Oh! Already? See you on Saturday Amelia! Don't do anything stupid Joshua! " Michelle smiled at us.
"See you. " Albert said.
The two of them left the limo.
After a while, we reached the apartment.
"I'll carry those for you Amelia. " I told her.
"No worries. I can lift these boxes just fine. " she said.
I immediately changed out of my uniform.
"You're finished already? "
Amelia was surprised.
"Yeah. " I replied.
"Alright. I'll be borrowing your clothes again. "
She then headed into the changing room.
I opened one the boxes.
"Woah... This is cool... "
I pulled a hooded cloak from one of the boxes.
There is another equipment left inside the box.
."Combat pants. "
I placed it beside me and opened another box.
"What's this? Throwing knives?... "
There was a lot of throwing knives.
"Oh! A holster! "
I carefully placed my knives in.
"You're awfully too excited for those. " Amelia said.
She changed into a very long T-shirt?
I gulped. She has really nice legs...
"I'm sure she's wearing something underneath. " I muttered under my breath.
I stared at her for a while.
"Hey Joshua? Hello? "
Amelia waved at my face.
"Ah! Wait what!? "
I was surprised.
"*sigh* You're really too absorbed into those things... " Amelia said.
"You have some boxes too right? Did you open them already? " I asked her.
"No. But that's not the problem here. " she told me.
"Those things aren't supposed to be yours Joshua. " Amelia told me.
"Why? " I asked her.
I opened the last box.
Twin black daggers.
"You're not like us Joshua. "
Amelia took a dagger from the box.
"Things like these... These aren't fit for a normal person... "
She looked at the dagger sadly.
"A weapon, used to kill... I don't want your hands to be stained by blood. "
Amelia looked at me.
"I won't be killing anyone. Merlin gave these for our self-defense. " I told her.
"That's what I told myself back then. "
Amelia had a sad look on her face.
"Don't look so glum. I won't go off kiling people. " I told her.
"It's not just that Joshua. The feeling of having a weapon in your hands... It's different. You'll never know that you're slowly slipping away... " Amelia told me.
"Don't worry. I'll be careful. " I smiled at her.
"Alright. Don't be reckless, Joshua. "
Amelia smiled softly.
"Alright then! Let's open you box! " I said excitedly.
"Still excited huh? Do you really like this kind of things? " Amelia asked.
"I dunno. Unboxing stuff makes me feel relaxed. " I replied.
She sighed.
Amelia then opened a box.
"Whetstones. "
Amelia grabbed a whetstone from the box.
"I guess this will help me in maintaining my blade. "
She returned it to the box.
"What's in the other box? " I asked.
She opened the other box.
"Hmm? What's that? " I asked.
"A mana crystal. The Grand Mage must've given this in case I'll have to use my spells. " Amelia said.
"Alright. Let's clean up. " Amelia told me.
"Clean up? " I asked.
"You still have work tomorrow. You can't sleep with these around. " she told me.
"Alright, alright. "
I covered the boxes and placed them in a corner.
"You forgot this. "
Amelia gave a a box.
"Oh... Thanks. " I told her.
"I'll be sleeping now. Good night. "
Amelia lied down on the bed.
"Good night. " I replied.
I peeked into the box.
"These aren't fit for me huh?... "
I looked at my reflection on the dagger.
I closed the box and placed it by the corner.
"Well! It's time for me to sleep! "
I lied down on my bed.
The boxes were neatly stacked on a corner of the room.
"Don't worry Amelia. I'll only use these weapons to protect myself. " I muttered.
The last thing I saw before falling asleep was the boxes across the room.
"*yawn* Good morning... "
I stretched my arms upon waking up.
"Oh? Joshua's gone already? "
I stood up and went to the table.
"Cereal huh? "
I prepared my breakfast.
The boxes by the corner of the room caught my eye.
"Hmm? This one's gonna fall down. "
I approached the stack of boxes.
"That Joshua... He's gonna get hurt if he isn't careful with these things... "
A single box was on the floor.
"Eh? It's so light... "
I opened the box.
"It's empty? "
I was surprised.
The only thing left inside was a mark left on the fabric by the daggers.
"Joshua... "
Did that man really bring weapons to work?...
"Argh... I hope he doesn't get into trouble... "
I could only pray for his safety.
"*sigh* Well then. Time to eat. "
"What's up guys! "
I greeted Michelle and Albert.
"Oh? Why are you all happy all of a sudden? "
Michelle was confused.
"Look at what I've got. "
I pulled the twin daggers from their sheaths.
"Look at these bad boys. "
I showed them the daggers.
"You shouldn't be playing around with those Joshua. " Albert told me.
"Don't worry. I won't accidentally harm someone with these. Just look at its craftsmanship. Isn't it cool? " I asked.
"Well it is really well made for a regular weapon. " Albert said.
I smiled proudly a I sheated the daggers.
"By the way, what did you two get? " I asked them.
"I received whetstones and mana crystals. " Albert replied.
"Ohhh. Amelia got the same. " I told him.
"Well... I guess it's because we are both magic knights. " Albert said.
"Just like Amelia huh?... Speaking of Amelia. You never told us you live with her. " Michelle looked at me.
"Well don't you live with Albert too? " I asked her.
"We sleep in different rooms. You're different. " Michelle said.
"Don't you live alone in a small apartment? " she asked.
"That's right. " I replied.
"Then that means you share a bed with her! " Michelle pointed at me.
"What!? No! I couldn't possibly do that! " I exclaimed.
Albert made a thumbs up sign.
"That's not helping! " I shouted.
"And didn't she clear this up last night!? " I told Michelle.
"Well we don't know what happens inside your house. " she smiled mischievously.
"I already told you, it's not like that... "
I rolled my eyes.
"Oh right. Didn't you also receive some equipment Joshua? " Albert asked.
"Yeah. I actually received some. " I replied.
"I've gotten some mage equipment and a magic staff. What did you get? " Michelle asked.
"Assassin equipment. " I replied.
"Well that's odd. Isn't that also your primary class in the game? " Michelle asked me.
"Now that you've said it, it is my primary class. Could this be a coincidence? " I asked.
"Maybe they thought these would suit us the most? " Michelle asked.
"Probably. " Albert replied.
"Break's over. Return to your stations now. " the manager told us.
"Already? " Michelle asked.
"Yep. "
Albert pointed at the clock.
"Alright, alright. I'm coming. " Michelle lazily stood up from the couch.
The two of them left the staff room.
"Welp. I guess I should go too. "
I left the staff room.
"Sir. Multiple hordes of monsters have been sighted near the mountains north of the city. "
"What is their estimated number? "
"About one hundred. "
"I see. Issue an alert to all personnel. Send three squads to the mountains ASAP. "
"Understood. "
"Another gate opened. What are you going to do now, Merlin? "
"Morgan? How long have you been here? "
"Your senses have dulled Grand Mage. But this doesn't concern you. What I want to know is your next course of action. "
"As of now, we can only contain the monsters by sealing gates. Though their locations seem random, the areas with gates had spikes in mana density before they appeared. By knowing the possible locations of the gates, we can prepare ourselves for the monsters. "
"To think that the great Grand Mage has now resorted to using band-aid solutions. Tell me. How much magic power do you have left? "
"To tell you the truth, there's almost no more magical energy left in me. I'm no longer different from the regular human being. "
"*sigh* And now we'll be forced to rely on the potential of humanity once more. "
"Don't worry. You already saw mankind's potential firsthand didn't you? "
"You're too optimistic, Merlin. Perhaps Arthur rubbed off on you. "
"I'll be going now. "
I waved goodbye at my coworkers.
"Now then. To buy some food. "
I pulled out my wallet.
"*sigh* I guess it's MyRonalds again this night. "
I tiredly walked to the shopping district.
*ring ring*
I picked up my phone.
"A message? "
"Be careful out there. Monsters have appeared on the mountains north of Castelia. "
The manager sent me a message.
"Monsters huh? Good thing I brought these. "
I patted the daggers by my hips.
I continued walking to the shopping district.
