Kapitel 132: Where is Ben? (129)
Ben was board with Josh working so much after Zane's incident. He wished he could go back to work.
He had a follow up appointment that Babs and David took him to and he begged the doctor to allow him to go back to work.
"I'll agree to 4 hours a day. Use a wheelchair at work but not at home. See the therapist three times a week. If you start to hurt come see me if not I'll see you again in two weeks." Dr. Connell said.
"Sure thing."
"How is Betty doin? I heard she is trying to adopt two boys." He asked.
"She got them today. So I now have two nephews." Ben said proudly.
"That's great, I know the boys and they a special kids, she is a great person for wanting to give them a home. Just wish my egghead friend would see that."
"You mean that Oliver guy?" Ben asked.
"Yes, he is his own worst enemy."
"Does he really like my sister?" Ben asked.
"She is all he ever talks about. We know more about you sister then we ever did about the girl he was engaged to." Tim said.
Ben left the office and waited for Babs. She was having a check up too. Finally David and her came out and they were carrying a photo.
"What's that?" Ben asked.
Babs hands him the picture, "This is Skyler your nephew." She said.
Ben looked at the photo but he could not make heads or tails out of it so he just said, "He's cute."
David drove Ben home and helped him into the apartment. Babs wanted to go find her father to show him the photo of her child, so they did not stay long.
Ben called work to let them know that on monday he would be back for only four hours a day. Then he called Josh.
Josh was busy pulling records for the new project the company was undertaking. He hated to ignore Ben but he did not have time right now.
Ben tried two more times before sending a message.
[If I said I've fallen and can't get up what would you do?] Ben
[Just kidding I'm back from my doctor's visit call me when you get a chance.] Ben
Soon it was six. Dinner was ready and no Josh. So once again Ben called.
Josh was eating a quick bite while going over a report. He heard his phone go off.
"Sorry I really can't talk now. I'll be home late don't wait up." He said.
"Ok, what about dinner?" Ben asked.
"I just grabbed a quick bite. So don't worry about me."
"Ok, want to know some good news?" Ben asked.
"Not now I got to go." Then Josh hung up.
Ben was a little lonely but knew Josh had a lot on his plate. He had taken to much time off for Josh's Dad and For his recovery so he would let this pass.
Ben ate dinner then cleaned up. He the wiped himself down and got ready for bed. He did not want to sleep in his room without Josh so he laid down in the guest room.
Josh came home tired at 1 AM and went to the shower. He quietly climbed into bed so he would not wake Ben but then noticed Ben was gone.
Josh panicked and turned on the bed side lamp. He pulled out his phone and looked for any messages but there was no new messages from Ben.
He got up and looked around for a note or something but nothing could be found. He took a deep breath.
Then he dialed Ben. Josh heard the ringing from the guestroom and the Ben say "Hello?"
Josh hung up and rushed into the room. "I'm sorry, please don't leave me."
"What are you talking about?" Ben said trying to wake up.
"Why are you in here, Are you mad at me?"
"No, I just did not want to sleep in our bed alone." Ben said.
"I'm sorry I could not be there today for you. I wanted to get everything done so I did not have to work this week end. "
"I'm not mad, a little upset you did not tell me you would not be home for dinner but I'm not mad."
Josh climbed into bed and hugged Ben. "What was your news?"
"Babs is having a boy. She is naming him Skyler. Betty got her two sons. Trevor and Olly. And I get to go back to work but only for four hours a day."
"That is all good news." He laid his head on Ben chest.
Ben held him tight. "Josh when I go back full time. I want to get married and adopt a child with you. Then I would like you to stay home instead of working like you do."
"Really, will we have enough to raise a child with one income?" He asked.
"Yes, I did the math. So what do you say?"
"Boy or girl and what age group?" Josh asked.
"That will be up to you. You will be it's mother."
"Then I want a girl. Under two." Josh looked to see Ben expression.
"I'll do anything you want."
"How long untill your better?" Josh asked.
"I have two more weeks of physical therapy then I see the doctor again. He said he will take x-rays then we will go from there." Ben said with a yawn.
Ben fell back to sleep and Josh laid there listening to his heart beat. He would never repeat this day again. Even if it was just a quick text he would let Ben know what was going on.
Then he thought about being a stay at home dad with a little girl and a little boy. He smiled at the thought. 'This man really loves me.' he thought.
But then he became a little said that the child would not be of their flesh and blood. He could just see a little girl with Ben eyes or with his own dimples. A little boy with Ben's handsome face and Josh's hair.
He then drifted off to sleep still in Ben's arms.
