Kapitel 113: Coordinated Attacks (1)

"Looks like we've arrived."

Markus commented. Sebastian peeked through the window and saw the giant structure created at the very peak of the mountain.

"Wow…"

"After the summit ends, you'd dread this sight rather than admire it."

Sebastian didn't know if that would really happen, but right now, he was enjoying the view. There were giant pillars supporting giant stone slabs. Dozens of statues and ornaments adorned the place.

When they stopped at the front, Sebastian could see a carpet leading further inside.

Though it didn't look classy like the Golden Rabbit or as atmospheric as the masquerade venue in Tidas, it felt even more majestic. Sebastian had the urge to kneel in front of the monuments.

"Tsk. Those statues are annoying."

Markus had told him about it before. The statues were made with the intention to gather worship. Those who are near its presence would feel an urge to kneel and only the ones with strong minds would be able to resist.

Sebastian followed Markus but as soon as he got close to a statue, the urge became stronger. He looked behind at the entourage following them and could see that some of them had already kneeled.

"Welcome, Lord Markus Luna."

A few maids greeted them.

Though Sebastian had just thought that they were simple attendants from a distance, once he got close, he shivered. Two of the maids were Adepts while the one in the center was a Caster, at the very least!

If they were to find employment in the city, they would receive high salaries no matter what they take. But, they were reduced to being maids? What kind of person was the one they serve?

The maids acted as if they hadn't seen his terror and greeting him as well.

"Welcome, Sir Sebastian Sol."

"Eh? Ah… Yes, thank you…"

The maids simply smiled at him as he awkwardly passed by.

"You could tell how strong they were, couldn't you?"

"Yes… Two of them were Adepts and one of them was a Caster. What kind of person can make those people maids?"

"The oldest Sage alive."

"..."

The last Sebastian had heard of the current oldest Sage was that he was over a hundred years and couldn't walk properly anymore.

"How did they know about me?"

"Anyone or anything related to a major house is known by the Sages. Very few can hide from their power."

Was that why Sebastian couldn't find the person spying on him no matter how hard he looked?

"We'll be led to our respective rooms and once all of the of the houses arrive, we'll be led to the meeting area. It will last for three days and I don't know which day it is, but there will be Sages participating in the meeting."

"Sages, not Sage?"

"Yes."

Markus had told him about a Sage occasionally attending the summit but never before had two or more Sages participated at once.

"They're your enemies, two of the Sages that are going to participate."

"...Then, what about the remaining Sages?"

"There's only one and their identity is unknown. There are only two or three Sages whose participation you shouldn't dread, everyone else is an enemy."

Sebastian gulped.

He had grown up knowing about the strength of Sages. His belief in their strength only solidified after he became stronger.

Would he be able to last more than an instant against them? He doubted it. Even with his Soul Armor, he would only be able to take one or two hits.

Quite a few maids suddenly approached them.

"We will guide you to your rooms. The House of Luna's area is over here."

Sebastian couldn't help but look at them twice.

It wasn't because they were all beautiful or because of the elegance they exuded, it was because of their power.

All of them were Adepts.

They were even stronger than the Adept that Sebastian had met at the entrance.

Sebastian had never seen so many Adepts gathered in one place. If they decided to launch a rebellion inside a city, only the four major houses would be able to deal with them.

They were all led into different rooms and after being informed of what they could and couldn't do, Sebastian decided to roam around.

Though it may be dangerous considering that he had many enemies and potential enemies in this place, it was the perfect time to broaden his horizons.

"Young miss, are you not overworking yourself?"

"How could I not? The territory is in danger."

"This is also a matter that the other major houses can't ignore, why don't you ask for their cooperation?"

"We can't disregard the possibility that a major house is a cause behind this."

"What of the House of Sol?"

"The other faction may be the one moving."

The maid that was speaking to Amy was Markus' aide.

Markus had quite a few aides but each one of them fulfilled a special duty. Bryan would help him in combat and reconaissance, Sebastian would help him with documents and just recently, combat as well.

The maid on the other hand, dealt with a wide variety of things. However, her main task was protection.

She was a Caster tasked with protecting them while they were in the estate.

Deimos Luna.

She had been adopted by Markus when she was young. And while there were no official records of her being related to the House of Luna's family tree, none dared disrespect her.

In a sense, she was Amy's older half-sister. Though, legally speaking, she was just a stranger hired by them.

She almost never showed her face in public, even Sebastian hadn't known about her existence other than as a maid for the household.

"Nevertheless, young miss, I do not believe that you should exert yourself like this. What will Lord Sebastian think of this?"

"..."

Amy stopped her pen.

"H-he won't know about this."

"I'll report it to him."

"Y-you wouldn't!"

"Wouldn't I?"

"..."

Amy bit her lower lip. Deimos wasn't bluffing, she would really report her to Sebastian.

Though Deimos was a maid, she had a great degree of freedom in the House of Luna.

"Alright… I'll ask for help. I won't ask any of the major houses though."

Deimos nodded in satisfaction and after replacing the tea on Amy's table, left the room.

Amy sighed and took out an orb from within her desk drawers.

"I hope this works."

Amy placed her hand on the orb and used some of her energy. After she placed a certain amount, she could feel that the orb was linked to her. She removed her hand and continued pouring energy into the link that she had felt.

Soon, the inside of the orb changed, she could see a person from behind the orb.

"To receive a call from the House of Luna's future head, to what do I owe the pleasure?"

"I would like to borrow a squadron of knights to investigate the recent attack for a few days."

"Hmm… We do have a squadron free but their number is only half of what they would have, would that be alright?"

"That's fine."

"Where should I send them to?"

"The House of Luna, I still have to make a few more calls."

"Understood."

The man behind the orb bowed his head. Amy stopped pouring her energy into the link and the call cut off.

It was an item that was just recently made. Only a few people in the kingdom were given the orb, and the House of Luna had two of them.

It allowed for long distance communication. Though, the farther the distance, the more energy it took to create and maintain a call.

Even if Amy were to pour her entire energy, she would only be able to call someone from Tidas for a few minutes.

If it's somewhere like Typhonia, even if she wanted to, she wouldn't be able to connect the call. Only a Caster with a particularly high amount of energy would be able to do so.

In a couple years, the orb's performance would be better and more will be distributed, or so they were promised.

"The royal family is really something."

It was the first time that Amy had used this orb and while only Inheritors were able to use it, it was still an invaluable item. To think that the royal family created and distributed it for free really showed off their wealth.

Though she didn't believe the later versions would remain free, most wouldn't hesitate to pay even a million Aur for these.

Amy finished admiring the orb and connected another call.

Amy had called in the morning and now it was midday.

In the House of Luna were half a squadron of knights and a few other people.

She began to inform them of what they were going to do.

"After investigating the attacks done by the Adepts, I had figured out that it wasn't random. There was a set pattern to the attacks and I've marked the next possible locations."

Amy handed them a small device.

"Each group will have one of these. Use these when you've encountered an Adept rampaging and the nearest groups will come to your aid."

Figuring out the perpetrator behind the attack was important, but their priority was to stop any ongoing attacks.

Though they weren't very strong, they were still Adepts. Regular citizens woulldn't stand a chance against them and unrest would ensue once the matter of the Adepts are revealed to the general populace.

"Each squad will have two Inheritors accompanying them while my squad will have one."

Amy split up the squads and gave each one a device.

"The first squad will head downtown, the second squad will head to the plaza, the third will—"

After splitting up the squads, they all left to go to their respective posts.

"Umm…"

One of the knights assigned to Amy approached her as they were walking.

"Miss Luna, how are we sure that the attacks wiill happen in these places?"

"There was a pattern among the attacks."

"A pattern… But, what of the villages outside of the city?"

"Diversions. The mastermind behind this has a goal that they want to fulfill inside the city and the attacks on the villages are simply diversions to make us think that they're random."

"I see…"

After convincing the knight, her squad arrived at the spot that she had marked. An attack may or may not come, however, she was certain that at least one of the locations she had marked would—

"?! The other teams have all fired a signal!"

Amy looked to the sky and saw pillars of smoke rising. She felt her mouth going dry as she issued orders.
