Kapitel 533: Siege on Yongtein: Final Day (10)

"We have control of Yongtein already. You should understand how difficult it is to siege the capital. Don't make a rash decision."

"If you had complete control over the city, then I might have reconsidered, but you don't. The kingdom's army is on its last legs and reduced to half their numbers. They can't fight anymore. Likewise, the Shui Family's General Songlin is an inexperienced brat. He'll struggle to hold the walls. Do you honestly think you'll resist our attack?"

Imperian Qiang fell silent.

"I think you're misunderstanding something here, Imperian Qiang," Lord Fuwu added. "Yongtein is our capital, the capital of the Xingyuu Empire. By letting the Alzar Kingdom take it, you've become the enemy of the people. It might take a day. It might take a week. But we'll eventually break through. Your fate was sealed, the second you decided to come here."

"Then we'll capture you and force your armies to submit!" Minister Chan shouted.

Despite her bold statement, the two patriarchs gave her an icy gaze as their killing intent flared. It was clear they were not about to stand down. Rather than that, because of what they heard, they were more motivated to fight! Minister Keigon raised his hand, motioning to the thousands of soldiers behind him. They shouted and entered formations, having recovered from the Sword King's last attack. He and Lord Fuwu refused to believe the Sword King could best them all. The Imperial Princesses and Imperian Qiang had delivered themselves on a silver platter. It was a good chance to capture them. Moreover, for every second they wasted here, the more perilous the situation in Yongtein became. They could not delay anymore! The air shifted. A battle was about to begin!

"Get back!" Princess Xiuying rushed over as she drew her sabre. Likewise, Princess Ming grabbed her spear and joined her. Due to the limited space on Elder Crus's back, she could not carry Cardinal Hui, Lady Mingyu, or Protector Chang. This became a problem.

Imperian Qiang and Minister Chan wanted to retreat, but their enemies were faster. Several figures darted out from the army, revealing Perception Realm auras. They would capture the two first! Xiuying and Ming panicked since everything happened too fast. They would not make it in time! As the Perception Realms went to grab them, another figure flashed through them. Bang! Every Perception Realm was blown back and suffered fatal injuries. The Sword King had unexpectedly made a move!

"Sword King…"

"Go! I won't defend you a second time!" he shouted. The four quickly remounted the bird and flew off again, leaving him to face the army by himself.

Words were no longer needed. The battle had begun! Minister Keigon made another hand gesture and thousands of archers replied. Soon, a sea of arrows rained down on the Sword King. The sheer number of projectiles would make anyone's hair stand. It was terrifying, especially when used against one person. The day seemed to darken in their presence. And truth be told, his Cloud Sea Style was not suited for defense. That was why Benedict alternated to the Hawken Style whenever he had troubles. However, the Sword King remained calm, as he dashed back. Moonlight flashed under his feet, as he widened the distance between him and the army. Regardless, the archers' attack was very wide. He was still within its range! At the same time, the enemy Perception Realms coordinated with the archers and unleashed their flying strikes. The two attacks reached the Sword King in the blink of an eye, leaving zero chance to dodge. It was a near-perfect strike!

Had Benedict or Shirley been here, they might have suffered, but this was the Sword King. He twisted his body. Arrows narrowly whizzed past his left shoulder, right thigh, and chest. Pivoting again, a flying strike passed by his ear, right arm, and foot. The margin of error was so incredibly small, that if the Sword King had moved a hair too much, he would have died from a thousand cuts. Yet, that small distance seemed as insurmountable as the heavens. Nothing could touch him! There was no need for martial techniques. At the Instinct Realm, he could avoid danger without thinking. Hence, it was called Instinct Realm. His instincts had grown transcendental! In the middle of dodging, he grabbed his sword. Cloud Sea Style: Heaven's Divide! He quickly created another humongous flying strike. Boom! It sliced through the army and detonated. Although he killed hundreds, if not a thousand, in that single attack, there were more than enough people to replace the dead. More archers and Perception Realms lined up. Their attacks intensified!

The Sword King kept retreating, as projectiles showered his afterimage. The army steadily advanced. This was an army of a hundred and forty thousand people after all. It would be a bad joke, if the Sword King could stop them. Realistically, delaying them was his limit. He continued to flit between the thousands of arrows and flying strikes, displaying perfect mastery of his body. There were no wasted movements. It was honestly insane how he remained untouched throughout the unending attacks. His level of coordination, speed, and dexterity stunned everyone. Was this really a human being! Boom! The Sword King attacked with three more flying strikes, but their momentum remained unchanged. In fact, more and more archers were showing up now, as the army spread out into formations. He failed to achieve anything substantial.

The Sword King clicked his tongue. On the next volley, before they could impale his body, he abruptly vanished. Even the Perception Realms lost sight of him. Using a high-speed movement technique, he reappeared far above the enemy army. He stood on the air while frowning. This was the second flaw of the Cloud Sea Style: it lacked any large-scale attack. Against an army like this, he was woefully unprepared. He debated whether to use his strongest offensive technique, Star Rain, but ultimately, he decided not to. He found joy in fighting swordsmen and testing his limits. In comparison, he found no joy in this. It was like plucking weeds from a field, extremely boring and a waste of his time. Looking in the direction of Yongtein, the kingdom was still fighting. It was unknown how much longer they would be. However, the Jian and Jun Families were moving fast. The Sword King estimated they were less than fifteen minutes away from the capital. Things did not look good. As he pondered his next move, a huge aura erupted in the distance, enough to leave him breathless. A crazed expression showed on his face. This was… a Rank 3 King!

Thirty hours ago, a large fleet sailed through the ocean towards Denmai Yi Fortress. Thanks to the Imperial Princesses and the Featherwind Sect, the kingdom had successfully taken the seaside fortress. This paved the way for the kingdom's final reinforcements before the Siege on Yongtein. Since then, it remained under their control. It was useless though. The council had formed a large naval blockade around the fortress, and everywhere else. This made it very costly for the kingdom's forces to land. Although Admiral Aura tried to break though, she did not have the necessary force. That was why, roughly sixty hours ago, she reunited with Admiral Jacken and the Zino Kingdom's fleet. Together, they would make one final push to assist General Petra! What they had not expected were two special individuals joining them.

The first was an elderly man with white hair and a long beard. He wore no uniform nor identifier. Instead, he had a bulky set of clothes for the cold spring weather. His frailty was seen in his withered skin, and wrinkled face. Although his lifeforce seemed incomparably weak, this was a lie. Underneath his aged face revealed an explosive lifeforce, brimming with energy. He was far stronger than he appeared! A deep cunning lurked in his eyes. This man was Conquestian Zaru, the current ruler of the Zino Kingdom, and a High Condensed Drop Arcanist! The second was a middle-aged man, wearing a simple robe with an unknown insignia. Unlike the Conquestian, he had an extremely domineering aura and lifeforce that spoke of his boundless power. The air seemed to solidify around this man, as if afraid of tainting his holy presence. Looking closer, one could almost see rainbows circling him. This was World Energy in liquid form, a sign of his supreme Core Level! Unsurprisingly, he was Protector Avin Arcellius, a Blue Depth Arcanist! These two legendary figures were making their way towards the battlefield. No one could believe it!
