WINTER PROMISE
—YEARS AGO—
A lady in a white winter coat walked in a hurry, passing through lots of people with her head hung low. What seemed like a huge bag she's holding,were two babies with eyes shut tight. The lady made a turn in a dark alley before reaching a run down building. Before she took a step inside the building, a man stopped her dead on her tracks. It was a man with a huge build, scars, and sewn up wounds that ravaged his face. His earlobes reached up to his chest with golden earrings piercing one of each ends.
The woman gulped her saliva along with her fear and bravely asked as her voiced quivered. "W-Where is he?"
"He's been waiting" The man replied and stepped aside to make way for her. She walked a dark tunnel before reaching the inside of the building. There he saw him. His hair ruffled messy, with a bandage wrapped around his forehead. He was wearing a suit with no expression shown on his face. "Chrollo...." The woman mentioned his name.
"Are those two....my children?" Chrollo asked and walked to where the lady stood. He tucked pieces of her elegant ebony hair behind her ear before looking at the two newborns. He was about to place his hands on top of their head when the girl moved away.
"Don't touch them. I must first make a deal with you" The woman said and placed the two newborns on a wide stone before taking out a piece of paper.
'Book of Promise : Deal Breaker Chain' the woman said and appeared a pen with a chain wrapped around it. "You said if I didn't give you these children, you'll murder us yes?"
"That is true" Chrollo said in reply to her question.
"Then here's our deal. I will leave you one of my children, and the one who'll stay with me will still know you as her father. If you make even the slightest move, if you hurt, and if you kill one of my children, two of your members' heart is gonna stop beating and you will lose a skill you stole" The lady explained. "And on my part, if I should try to take them away from you, all three of us should die and my skill will be yours"
"I could take your skill if I wanted to, but whatever, I agree with your terms" Chrollo said and another pen and paper appeared in front of him. As soon as he and the lady held the pen, the chains began to wrap around their ring fingers. A little blade from the pen sprung up, wounding each of their fingers enough to make a small blood puddle. They dipped the tip of the pen and together they signed the paper with the conditions written.
Then it vanished and what replaced the chains were black and white rings. "There. Done. Now give me my child. I want the girl"
"No. I'll be taking my daughter, and you'll be taking your son. I must leave, my father's gonna be looking for me. Keep your promise Chrollo. And before I leave, his name is Akihiro" The lady bid farewell and as soon as she stepped out the ruins, she disappeared into the thick layers of snow outside.
"Akumi....." The woman's name suddenly exited Chrollo's lips. His attention was diverted when the baby on his hands snuggled closer to him.
"Boss, what would you name him? Surely you won't use the name Akumi-chan gave him right?" Asked Shizuku from the corner.
"Midnight would be nice" Feitan added.
"Or Sanguin" said Kortopi
"Nah you're too sinister when you give names Kortopi" Retorted Phinx.
"Samael. He will be called Samael. And as for my daughter, I will call her, Lilith"
