Kapitel 29: Contracts

"Good morning Annie!"

Lia greeted Annie as enthusiastically, sending off flowers floating in the air paired with her brilliant smile.

She was the last one to arrive in the company despite coming in 10 minutes earlier.

Instead of fretting over for being the last one to arrive despite not being late, Lia was not disturbed.

'Why should I stress over something I'm not clearly guilty of.' She was not a fool in this area. For God's sake, she worked in offices for a whole eight years already!

'It was a bullshit rule from those managers that scold those poor interns for not coming much earlier... despite them clearly not late.'

Lia disliked those petty rules just for the sake to give the interns a hard time and for the sake of having face as seniors. From her point of view, it's a waste of time for scolding interns for that reason. For every 10 minutes they waste, they could have already made a report. Moreover, it was simply unprofessional on their part.

Putting that aside, she even more disliked the fact they did not have the guts to fight back nor defend themselves for something they're not at fault of.

Lia had never been late to any function at all and with that she was known to arrive 10 minutes flat prior to the appointed time.

She didn't mind those who were late to an appointment for a few minutes, as long as she arrived 10 minutes early. However, it's another story when people make her wait for 30 minutes or an hour. One hour was her maxiumim limit, with 20 minutes as the minimum. She wouldn't even hesitate to leave when the hand on the clock strikes the limit she had set off.

She had the mindset of a 'discpilined perfectionist' in her past that most people find it ever so scary.

'Why do they even hate perfectionists like me, we don't even get angry at people for their annoying clumsy mistakes. Hmp!'

...

Well, that's because normal average people can't keep up with your standards.

"Morning!" Annie greeted Lia whilst putting packs of paper into the table, heaving. She fixed her glasses that's almost falling from her nose and puffed a mouthful of breath.

'Wow, that must be very heavy. What's with all these papers anyway.' Lia put down her bag on her desk, turning on her computer to check emails Annie asked her to send them to.

For now she's working alongside with Annie as per the arrangement of Ms. Ivy. She can't be a manager in this company without knowing anything, so for now she's still an intern working under Annie. Well not really an intern but rather instead of using that term Annie prefers to call Lia a 'temporary assistant-student' of hers.

Annie may not look like it from first glance but she's been eyed by the 'Boss' of Twilight starting from three years ago when she was in her graduating year in university with a degree in Entertainment Marketing. She worked under these two for a year now, following their every footsteps.

But because of her baby face and clumsiness sometimes, you won't ever know that she's older than Julia by a year. She's now 25 years old but she doesn't seem like it.

'Anyway, Annie is one of the few people who worked hard to get Twilight Agency into the top. Annie...she really is an amazing manager despite that innocent vibe. Well, she had some 'past experiences' when she was in university as much as I can remember, that had her become the great manager she will be in the future.'

Annie was once a sweet young girl back in university and she was the smartest and most passionate student at their class. Some professors even liked her drive and passion towards the whips and ways of entertainment. Even in her class, she was well-liked by her classmates because she was their honor student. They always come at her when they need help. But soon enough those who praised her with honey on their mouths turned their back on her like snakes spitting poison.

'Tsk, tsk. One can't really be too trusting.' Lia was of course frustrated when she first read what happened to Annie in the past, but then she soon realized that because of that 'incident' it made Annie who she is now.

"Ah right! Annie won't you be managing Jason under you now? I met him earlier at the bus station and chatted with him for a while. Also what's with the papers?" Lia voiced out what she wanted to say earlier while opening her email box to check if someone replied.

Annie and Ms. Ivy had already oriented her on what to do and she already had some inkling thanks to Annie's helpful guidance. After working with her for a while now, Annie had already viewed Julia as a friend.

She indeed was suspicious of Julia at first, treading the ice first as her instincts says that something off with Julia. Well, she can't be too wrong as Lia did approach them with the 'not so great objective'. But after some observation, Annie just brushed her off as someone clever but does not mean any harm to her or to anyone in the company.

In truth, Lia might seem very careful at the beginning but its just because she is checking people if they are worth trusting for. No matter what benefit they give to Lia, she wouldn't give her trust all so completely.

She had met so many clients and investors in the past that would be all smiles at the beginning to break down your walls just to swallow you whole when you're vulnerable. But because of Lia being cautious with people she doesn't have good feelings about, instead of being attacked, she would swallow and crush them instead. That's why she always had the upperhand in business negotiations.

But being too careful would also lead to harm in some relationships, in that case you may call it not trusting your partners. That's why the two 'hunters' eyeing each other just conceded and thus became friends.

"Ah, you already met him?" Annie pouted while slumping on her chair before grabbing the orange drink on her desk.

'I wanted to meet him first but anyway...can't be helped' Annie thought while sipping her orange juice and rotating her chair towards Lia.

"Hmm...Ah! Those papers are prepared contracts made by the company's chief lawyer. Those are for the emails you and I just sent to." Annie said while pointing out to the the stacks of papers on the table.

"We have a company lawyer?" Lia asked surprised that the company has a lawyer even though she hasn't seen one addition in their office.
