Even though the Lawrence family was well off, they were nothing compared to the Hathaway. The latter's family was in Logistics and his sister married an heir of an extremely influential family. So he always thought she wants to marry him for family wealth than for him or for her grandmother wish who she meets once or twice a year.

His parents and grandparents let him do whatever he likes but his grandfather's only request for him was to marry his childhood sweetheart's granddaughter which he couldn't say no.
