Chapter Thirty-Eight: Dungeon Event

Not long after the twins decided to temporarily live in Evelyn's dungeon, a warning notice popped out of nowhere.

The countdown timer steadily decreases with each second passing by.

"A dungeon event?" Evelyn ponders. "What is a dungeon event?"

In response, the system pops up an explanation of what it is. The event itself varies, but usually, it is filled with opportunities to earn some prizes in the form of DP or items.

Unfortunately, for Evelyn's first dungeon event, it is quite harsh.

< Use the available time to prepare yourself for the waves of monsters who desire to take your throne as Dungeon Master. >

< Every monster slain will award you with DP depending on their grade. As a bonus, rare monsters may also appear and drop unusual rewards if slain. >

< The strength and grade of the monsters are dependent on the grade of the dungeon. The strongest monster that can appear is up to one grade higher and the weakest is down to two grades lower. >

< Spawn percentage of Grade E monsters: 50% >

< Spawn percentage of Grade D monsters: 35% >

< Event objective: Survive until the timer runs out or slay all event monsters. >

< In the end, a BOSS monster will spawn. The grade of the BOSS will always be the dungeon's current grade. >

< The BOSS, with certainty, will always drop an item of Rare quality or higher. >

< At the end of the event, you will be given a grade of E through SSS. Depending on your grade, you will be awarded in correspondence to your achievement. >

That is the description of the dungeon event. Rather than an event, it is more like an ordeal or trial. The meaning of an event usually corresponds with fun and joy. It seems to be quite opposite of it in this case.

"It looks like I have two weeks to prepare myself for the event."

With the amount of DP she saved, she believes she could at least be able to weather it through somehow. The more worrying thing is the 1% spawn chance of a B grade monster. With the event clearly explaining that monsters would come in waves, there is a possibility of fighting multiple B grade monsters. One would be fine, two would be okay but three or four of them would be impossible.

"The next thing to worry about would be the BOSS monster," Evelyn mutters. "From the term, I should expect it to be strong."

The next thing that Evelyn did is sitting in her chair and racking her brains on ways to complete the event. In the background, Tsukiko quietly stands behind her, while the cup of tea that was served to Evelyn became cold.

While Evelyn is busy figuring out ways and methods to complete the event, a curious figure pops in out from the void. Landing onto the snow with a crunch, he gives the place an inquisitive glance. The hood of his windbreaker covered his head, leaving the upper half of his face masked in the shade. Slung across his body, a bow and a quiver of arrows hangs at his waist.

"Looks like I successfully entered, but..."

"Why are there no monsters?"

The landscape of snow is barren. The only other sounds are of the passing wind and his breath as he breathes through his nose.

"It's not too cold at least." His gaze continues to wander.

"Status."

"Huh? That's weird, my INT stat seems to be glitching out." He mutters. "I wonder why?"

He tried to tap at the screen he is instantly reminded the moment his fingertip went through the semi-transparent screen.

"Oh right."

Closing his status, he refocuses on the task at hand. The system had given him a mission to complete.

"Mission Board."

In the vast winter wonderland, everywhere looked almost the same. Following his instincts, he picks a direction and trudges through the snow. The further he went, the longer the imprint of footprints trailed behind him.
