A flurry of spears of ice form and converge towards the foe of Evelyn. Within a single breath, he smashes all that flew within his sword range. With his well-maintained body and flexible sword form, he weaves in and out through the barrage. Evading the ones that could be evaded and destroying those that he could not. As the battle progresses, the assault grows more intense. Mixing in unseen blades of wind, Evelyn improves the variability of her attacks. With his experience, he senses and disrupts the blades of wind that slices towards him. With the situation growing perilous, the man decides to shed all pretenses. A twister of sharp wind surrounds him, along with the continuous strikes of ice still piercing through the wind aiming for him.
"Myriad Slashes."
Blades of light trails behind each fluid motion of his sword. One. Two. Four. Sixteen. Thirty-two slashes all within a span of a second. Splitting apart the storm and shattering the spears of ice, he continues on with the next wave of attacks.
"Onslaught."
From the top of his head and slashing downwards he creates a shockwave. The wind scatters and the ice rebounds off the repelling force of the shockwave. It continues onwards and for a brief moment, the blizzard disappears. Posturing himself into a thrust, his sword radiating a bright white light.
"Radiant Sword Style: Sting"
Thrusting his sword out, the light within the blade explodes outwards. A blinding flash of light follows after and a beam pierces through the blizzard. All that was on its path vanishes into the void; a violent force swirling around the beam of light. Evelyn witnessing the power of the attack creates and reinforces multiple barriers in front. Meeting head-on, the first barrier gets pierced within the blink of an eye. The second barrier shatters, the radiance and power of the attack diminishing greatly. Upon making contact with the third and final barrier, the attack smashes into it with a loud thud. Scattering into flickers of light, the attack dissipates and vanishes. After a brief moment, regaining her wits, Evelyn tries to locate her enemy but to no avail. He had run away the moment he launched that attack of his. Having bought enough time for the others to make their way out, her foe quickly found the opportune moment to leave the scene. Viewing her system, Evelyn finds that they had left the confines of her dungeon. With her fury unabated, a torrent of mana erupts and dyes the night sky a shade of blue. The brand on her forehead growing brighter in response to her heightened emotion, becoming a beacon within the blizzard-filled night. A strong frustration lingers within her mind. After a time, Evelyn calms down and starts to return back. Alice still needs to be tended to, so she hurries back. Some taps onto the system's menu and she teleports back to where she is needed.
.....
Outside the dungeon's entrance, a gathering of knights amass. Along with the nine knights and Beatrice, another handful of five knights were sent to their location as well. A luxurious carriage of which two magnificent red steeds tows. The corners were gilded with gold and the side an insignia which bears the mark of the royal family of the Rosenstein Empire. In the shape of a circle, the body of the insignia is made of copper. Intricate reliefs and carvings are found upon that body of copper. Then lines of silver outline and intertwine themselves inside the copper body, forming an abstract shape and pattern. Within the center, a solid gold centerpiece. Mysterious runes etched in a circle within the centerpiece.
The knights who had retreated along with Beatrice tells of what happened inside the dungeon. The recent addition along with the several knights who stood watch at the entrance listens patiently. With their captain still out of sorts, they were curious as to what had transpired inside. Most of the knights' retelling only recount of how they went their separate ways until meeting back at where they first split. After, they told of how they were ordered to retreat with Captain Beatrice. The only one who could fill in the details of what happened to Beatrice is the only other knight that lead her to where Alice was.
"It was frightening," The knight speaks. "Little did I know that in the form of a little girl would be a demon."
He describes Alice as a harbinger of death. Her scythe along with her figure being shrouded in a cloak of darkness brought an image too horrifying for the storyteller. Her expressionless face with the two horns protruding out of her forehead lead him to think that she was a demon.
"The surprises do not end there, a young lady from nowhere showed up."
"Though young, she was beautiful." The knight continues. "She had long silver hair, eyes the color of gold-"
Before the knight could continue any further, the door to the carriage opens forcefully. A loud bang sounds out when the door swings and slams against the carriage. A regal looking young girl saunters out. Her brows furrowed and her golden locks of hair become tussled from the forceful exit. Her amber eyes narrow and drill into the knight that was recounting his story. With every step she took her silky dress would flutter with each of her strides.
"What is your name?"
"M, Marvin, your highness." The knights within the vicinity kneel and lower their collective heads.
"Knight Marvin," She addresses him. "What did you say she looks like again?"
"P, Pardon me, your highness?"
"Her appearance. What color were her eyes and hair?"
"H, her hair is silver while her eyes are gold, your highness."
"You are not mistaken with the color of her hair and eyes?"
"N, no, your highness," The knight becoming confused. "I am sure of it."
With nothing else more to say the princess falls silent, deep in her own thoughts. The knight being questioned sighs out of relief but still continues to kneel. Not long after, a figure comes dashing out from the entrance. The man, having successfully escaped and exited out, finally relaxes. During the moments of his attack, he used his full power to increase his speed to the fullest. Turning that short trek to the entrance to a brisk walk around the yard.
"You have come back." The princess speaks. "You will have to fill me in on the details; I have heard some interesting things that I will have to look over."
"Yes, your highness."
"Come into my carriage, Roland," She beckons him over. "We will much to discuss on our way back to the capital."
With that, the princess turns around and enters into the carriage. Roland takes a glance back at the dungeon. His mind going through his encounter with one who had the blood of the gods. With all the turmoil that has been going on, this other factor did not bode well for him. Taking a step towards the direction of the carriage, he makes his way into it. When all the knights were finally prepared to leave, they set off; their destination, the capital.
