The next day Kate wasn't fairly busy. She was busy compiling data against Ashton. She had decided to hand him over to the law and only for the reason of Susie's death and not because of all his shady deals. She wanted him to think that she didn't know anything about it. She wanted to keep him as the bait and attract the person who was pulling the strings from the shadows. In the meantime she could finally do what she was planning to do. But for that, she needed a lot of money. She immediately told her hacker team to do jobs in the black market and gather funds for their plans. She then busied herself with finding dirt about Ashton, so that she could send him behind the bars. She started with Susie's death, remembering the conversation that happened the night before Susie died. Susie clearly asked her to choose between her and Ashton. And she had chosen Ashton. This would probably be the biggest regret in her life. If she had chosen Susie back then, maybe she would have been alive today. Kate then connected her thoughts to the fact that Ashton had said that Susie was in love with him and even proposed him 2 years back. But if she was in love with him why would she be happy when she started dating Ashton? Only one person knew the answer - Susie. Kate decided this wasn't taking her anywhere. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. When she opened her eyes, determination flashed in her eyes. She wore some proper outgoing clothes and went out. She decided to visit Susie's mother. She had not gone to meet her since Susie died, so she felt a bit uncomfortable. But to find out the answers, she had to. She stood outside her house and stared at Susie's room's window for a while. She had tears in her eyes. It felt like an entire decade. She missed her voice, she missed her stupid jokes, she missed her scoldings, she missed how she used to 'doll' her up, she missed her laughter, she missed Susie. When she looked at the entrance she saw Susie's mother standing at the door and staring and smiling faintly at her. Her expression teared Kate up. She looked as if she had aged by ten years in the past two months. Kate immediately wiped her tears and came towards her.
"Hello aunty.." Kate said in a faint voice.
"Come inside Kate. It's been so long since you came. The last time you came was on your birthday." Susie's mom said in a caring tone. Kate tried real hard not to cry. She nodded and went inside her house with her.
I suddenly miss my best friend even though she is just hours away from me. *Sobs*
