Kapitel 29: Hanging out
Since everything was ready anyway the group took a day off to relax.
Tral left the store with two girls he had met club hopping and a few random friends of theirs.
He took the necessary precautions as he had been around town by wearing a fake face which he had become rather good at making look very realistic so that his wanted picture wouldn't get them caught.
The others stayed back at the shop to hang out without him despite his attempts to convince them to come swimming.
Arc had set up a wicked computer system that gave them all kinds of channels which they were casually watching.
Gara was a little worried her brother would get in trouble or run off somewhere but Arc reassured her "It won't be a problem even if he does as I put a tracking device in his body just for such an occasion."
Darick was pretty irritated at this "What? You can't just track people like that Arc especially your friends, that's super weird."
Arc responded calmly while he blew on his coffee to cool it off "I absolutely can track people like you Darick with devices I designed specifically to do that but they don't work on Gara unless she actually chose to carry it around and I wouldn't ask something like that of her."
Darick jumped up and started searching himself "When did you put a tracker on me and why? I'm not going anywhere you crazy lab rat!"
Arc just adjusted his glasses before explaining it as if it was the most normal thing to do "You would probably thank me if you were ever buried alive somewhere or fell in a river but I would recommend you stop passing out drunk next to someone who actively experiments on you by the way."
Gara laughed pretty hard at there banter before changing the subject. "Oh look it's Heavenly Force again, I wonder what happened to Lisa and Zhu Li?"
On the news it was describing the events from last week where Heavenly Force beat back the Axis of Villians to arrest most of the members but it said that five of them escaped after their robot launched an escape pod which burrowed into the ground before the large machine exploded covering their retreat.
"Seems like they are doing fine. I wonder if Heavenly force let them get away so that Lisa could gather more information on more villians?" Gara thought out loud.
Darick got upset at this "I know what Mr.Inherst said but I can't believe that she would do something like that. She was generally a decent person ok and I know you guys think that I am biased on this but I still think that she had nothing to do with the Resistance base getting found."
Gara just rolled her eyes at this "You are way too trusting Darick. Come on, the timing is just to perfect and she totally had the opportunity to sell out the mission, how else do you think the military caught on to us so easily cause they were totally tipped off?"
Arc was intrigued by this query stating "There could have been any number of culprits going as far as the Resistance HQ as Mr.Inherst clearly stated that the entire mission was a plan that they made a priority request for. I also don't think that Zhu Li would do such a thing as she was raised in the Resistance which makes it strange that they would be together."
Gara responded to this quickly "Awe I knew you liked Zhu Li! It's cause she is smart just like you isn't it? You can tell me Arc, did you two kiss that night while you were out 'studying'?"
Arc hastily replied to try and dissuade her of any funny thoughts "No way! We just walked around the base and checked out the chimeras. She is nice and all but I'm not interested in her like that I swear."
"Oh! Long walks at night to check out some long furry animals eh... I get it say no more you sly geek." Gara says suggestively despite Arc protests.
He finally gives up to go off and adjust his micro brew set up saying he wanted some stronger espresso.
After he left Darick turned to Gara and said "You probably shouldn't tease him so much, we all know he likes you a lot. It's ok if you don't feel the same but it's kinda brutal to see happening all the time."
Gara sighed at this "I guess I was a little much but he really should have a real relationship with someone who will like him back. I wish we could just be friends cause I really don't want to get all tangled up any relationship and leading him on would just hurt his feelings more.... Why can't we all just be like we were when we were kids playing around all care free?"
Darick raised an eyebrow at this "Ya we made some good times but we had to cause the orphanage sucked so much. We might glorify the fun times but it was mostly hunger and church propaganda with nothing to do as we were all fenced in the whole time. I clearly remember us having long talks about what we would do once we got out from behind those fences and none of those conversations involved wasting our lives wishing to go back."
She chuckled at that "You're right, that place did blow chunks. I'm glad we are all free now even if we have to spend a lot of time running. Maybe some day soon I'll sit Arc down and explain that I just don't want to date anyone after all that Queen program garbage they put me through. It sucks to break his heart but he really should find someone who isn't a mess like me."
