Kapitel 3: The lost explorer and the summer war, part 3
In the war room of the Brighthammer, the main great ship of the eastern fleet.
In the room there where four people, a young blonde and blue eyed boy who look around 12 o 13 years old, wearing a white toga over a black tunic, at his side were two men, wearing sets of cuirass, cuisses and gorgets of brigantine amor, (The cuirass is a piece of armor consisting of breastplate and backplate fastened together. The cuisse is an armor made to protec the thighs. And the gorget is an armor made to protect the neck. Brigantine is a type of armor made of steel plates sandwiched between pieces of leather) apart from those they use greaves and bracers of splinted armor (this being long strips of metal put over leather used to protect against cuts). Both armors being identicals except for their colors, Cato's armor being green while Cassius armor is red. And in front of the kid was an exceptionally common old man wearing black robes.
Maximilian pov:
"Well now that you are here please do share the information you obtained with us o' wise master" I procured to say that with as much sarcasm as it was posible, and seeing the smirks in Cassius an Cato faces as well as the slight twitch in my masters eye I think I achieved my objective.
"Stop trying to act funny brat. Things were as we expected, I could obtain some useful information from him in regards to the other regions of his continent besides his own, he traído to avoid saying much about it, even when we already knew that it is the richest place in there." Master tell us
"I don't even know why you even bothered asking that from him, you could have simply uses more forceful methods to obtain all that" this has been vexing me for quite a while now so I could not help myself and ask.
"It seems you are not as smart as you think brat, it is better if your enemy think that he knows all what you know about him that let him see through you. He thinks we know almost nothing about Westeros so when we go there to bring him to his brother he would tell his brother that, and his brother would in turn tell the king, they would think we are ignorants but it would be best for us this way." The old man says, I guess he isn't as senile as I think yet.
"Well it doesn't matter, we are here for other reasons. Cassius the knights are already using the brigantine armors instead of their steel plates?" This is a important point, while I like heavy armored troops we are attacking from sea, it would be foolis for them to use that sort of armor in this situation.
"Yes, there were some complains but after telling them that I would throw them in the water and see if they could swim they stopped complaining, so at this point the 5 thousand knights should already be equipped with them, besides that, the 20 thousand infantry already leave their steel breastplate, as per your request we use supply ships to send that equipment to Naath for the time being. So now we have 5 thousand knights who would serve as light cavalry with barded horses, spear and shields, 10 thousand infantry with shields and spears, 5 thousand infantry with crossbows and 5 thousand great swordsman, all of them with leather armor." Cassius says.
"Good, Cato, what is the status of the ships?"
"We have 100 ships, 45 fast ships equipped with 20 scorpions each 9 at each side and 2 in the front, as well as 200 crewmen, 5 great ships that serve as suppor equipped with 48 scorpions 20 at each side as and 8 in the front, manned with 350 crewmen, for a total of ten thousand seven hundred and fifty, being the naval force of the east expedition, apart from those we have 50 100 oars transport ships designed to carry 500 soldiers each, and being the ones to carry the bulk of the ground forces, apart from the supply ships this is our whole force in this invasion."
"Old man, the spies are in place to carry their mission?"
"Of course, who do you think I'm, all of them are ready to carry their orders even if it means their dead."
"Let me explain the battle plan and then tell me what you think about it. First we are going to attack the island of koj in the middle of the archipelago between the isles of Walano the bigger island in the north and Omboru The bigger of the middle islands. 28 fast ships and 2 great ships will attack the port on koj, there are produced almost all their ships so we are going to burn down the shipyards and any ship in the vicinity, while we do this the other 17 fast ships and 3 great ships will rase any ship in the northern coast of Walano while we deploy ten thousand men on the island to take control of the cities and towns in it, after that is taken care of, we will leave two thousand five hundred men to secure the island, apart from that we would try to make the princes of the island surrender if they don't them we will get rid of them and make other princes take the control of the people there, you have to make sure the commanders on that islands don't destroy their temples and the talking trees which are huge trees with their history, laws and the commandments of god carve in them, it would be more difficult pacify them if they believe we will force them to abandon their gods, then 7 of the fast ships and 2 of the great ships will leave that island an join the main force in Koj while we try to capture their ships to launch a surprise attack on the ports of Omboru, if it goes well we could make a lot of damage to them by the time they realize we are enemies, after that we follow the same procedure as the first island, with the remaining 25 fast ships and 3 great ships as well as any ship we capture from them and what remains of the 20 thousand troops that can be deploy will attack the last of the bigger islands, after that the only job will be take control of the small island, this should not take more than a month. Now I need to know ways of improving the plans." I could clearly see their eyes going wide while I spoke, hmph who they think they are dealing with.
Clap clap "not so bad for being a kid but it could be better, in Walano you could make the ships act as pirates and wait for lotus port to send reinforcements to last lament, that way the city will have at least half the troops and the reinforcements will be caught in the middle, after that you could have them surrender and lose much less troops, as for Jhala… my spies said that the princes of sweet lotus vale and red flower vale are enemies so we could exploit that opening, sweet lotus has a port so he could be more useful than the other, we just need to offer him the opportunity a position in the government of the island and the opportunity to deal with his enemy, between that and losing everything I think he would take the right choice."
Well I guess the old man isn't my master for anything.
"We will go with it" it's not like we couldn't just use brute force and defeat them with numbers and better weaponry but at least this way we will have little loses.
"Oh, and the spies in all the island report that they could find a way to poison their water supply's, they just need the signal and they would use the weakening poison, with that their troops would be almost useless, you are truly a vicious brat"
"Like you were one to talk old man, remember that I'm just your apprentice, and besides, I didn't force them to leave their water sources without protection, as far as I remember the poison takes time in doing effect, make them use it when we invade koj, the ones in Omboru an Jhala too, by that time they may know that we could do that and we may lose our chance"
I could see in Cassius face that he don't approve of this last trick but between making him and his sense of chivalry happy and making my loses as small as posible I think I rather chose the later.
"Well prepare The troops, and make sure they are well fed, the plan starts in 3 days, now go…"
