As the dog girl entered the building, she thought she'd be kicked out by the Head Steward due to the ridiculous smell she was emitting.
However, she was bound to be disappointed since the Steward simply clenched his nose and dragged her in by the leash.
After delivering her to the main hall where the Young Mistress and her children were waiting by the fire, the Steward turned and left at the fastest speed humanely possible; maybe even quicker.
This time, upon seeing the dog girl, neither the son nor the daughter rushed towards her to embrace her.
This freaked the girl out since this was very odd. She then realized how bad she smelt and was instantly calmed down. She would probably never willingly approach a person who smelt like how she did, much less hug them.
Hence, their reaction was understandable.
What added to her fears, however, was the fact that, despite not rushing over to embrace her, the siblings both had stern expressions on their face.
Looking closely though, it was possible to tell that these expressions were very forced; they truly loved the dog girl, but had to be strict with her now to ensure a better future.
In contrast to the children, the Young Mistress truly wanted to rip the dog girl apart for defiling the main hall with her stench, even though it was she who invited the dog girl here.
Before the dog girl could get closer than 10 metres to the family, she was ordered to stop where she knelt by the Young Mistress.
The girl halted and immediately got on her back, asking to be tickled or pet.
All that tickled her though were three cold pairs of eyes; they each made her feel vulnerable, and she shivered unconsciously under their scrutiny.
Even though the son and daughter wanted to pet her, they needed to teach the dog a lesson first to prevent any more incidents from occurring.
This time though, the Young Mistress was first to act. Last time, even though her daughter gave the dog girl a harsh punishment, the Young Mistress' anger wasn't abated.
In her opinion, the best way to teach animals to behave was to beat them, not embarrass them. Animals didn't have a sense of shame to begin with. They were not like humans who cared about their dignity. If they saw an animal with a cross pair of genitals, they would immediately have an intense desire to go and mate.
This was what animals were. The only things they knew were pain and pleasure; there was no such thing as embarrassment for such lowly creature.
Excrete without care in the dining hall? That was just asking for punishment. Now, it was time for the dog girl to feel pain.
