Kapitel 11: Spin The Wheel

The killing intent was so large that it nearly caught me off guard, Although, I would not be taken down that easily. After I entered the room I heard bickering. Two girls went back and forth with killing intent rising to the heavens! This had to be stopped before things got out of hand. I looked at everyone else in the room but no one seemed to care. It looks like I will have to stop them myself.

I raised my hand and took their voices from them. Of course I just stopped their vocal cords from vibrating but it's easier to say. The two girls looked very confused and then looked at me.

I spoke, "It's too early in the morning for this. can you both please stop. I don't care what you both are bickering about so take it somewhere else."

They looked at me with surprised eyes and then nodded. I canceled the spell and they both were silent. Everyone in the class was silent for that matter. They all stared at me like I killed their cat. Oh, They have never seen this spell before. That would explain it.

Finally, one of the girls that was muted spoke, "...What is your name?"

I replied, "Nova."

The girls looked at me in awe. It seemed they were impressed with my sound magic. At this moment the door opened again and Melody walked in. She saw me and walked over.

I smiled and rose a hand, "Yo. You took you're sweet time didn't you?"

Melody laughed a bit, "Haha, I got lost. Did I miss anything?"

I replied, "Not much."

The others in the room except for the two girls I muted got annoyed. They were being ignored? Who would be so arrogant as to not even say hello! Soon a few students led by a girl approached Melody and myself. It was led by Cynthia, no surprise there.

Cynthia spoke in a demeaning manner, "It's not very nice to avoid me. I think you should apologize before you regret it."

She had an evil smile but damn was she pretty. The two guys standing to each side of her stepped forward, each cracking their knuckles.

I laughed, "Cynthia, on what allocations do I have to apologize? Just because your enflamed ego took a hit from me not greeting you doesn't mean I have to apologize. Who put that idea in your head?"

Cynthia was furious but before she could sick her dogs on me the teacher walked in.

The teacher greeted the class, "Please take your seats. My name is Mr Willows and I will be your homeroom teacher for the rest of the year. I look forward to working with all of you in the future."

Everyone bowed politely.

Mr Willows continued, "I will now take attendance. Cynthia..."

He continued on until all the names were called. It seemed that the two girls that I had muted before were Terra and Crystal. The two guys guarding Cynthia most of the time were Andrew and Aaron. Michael and Jack were sitting close by us and were chatting with each other. One could tell they had been friends for some time. Then there was Warren, sitting in the back alone looking out the window. he seemed like the silent brooding type. These were my classmates for the rest of the year... great.

Mr Willows spoke again, "If everyone is ready I will choose the first test for placement. After all the tests are taken, you're individual score will be averaged from all the test scores. Now, who would like to spin the wheel?"

Mr Willows brought in a huge roulette wheel from the hallway. How did I not notice that before?

Nobody volunteered to go up so I answered, "I will spin it, Teacher."

Everyone stared at me as I walked up to the front of the classroom. I approached the wheel and took notice of the different outcomes. They were quite interesting.

Mr Willows explained, "Now, Nova, spin the wheel and the first test will be what the wheel lands on. I will explain a little further. There are six outcomes, however, we will only be picking three for the tests."

So thats how this works. This method of picking the tests at first seemed a little simple but looking at the choices on the wheel, It was quite difficult. First of all the choices were very vague. There were only one or two words for each choice.

They were as follows,

Tournament

Race

Knowledge

Team Battle

Spirit Energy

Monster Battle

They all sounded interesting. But one of them would expose me early, Spirit energy. If it is what I think it is, they will measure my spirit energy. If my spirit energy can impress one of the four dragons then what about other humans? I would rather not find out.

I stuck out my hand and spun the wheel. It spun several times before slowing down a bit. This was super nerve wracking! Please don't land on Spirt Energy! I watched along with the other students. Finally, the wheel slowed and was about to land on Spirit Energy! Please just a little more! It was as if the wheel listened to my thoughts and complied. It did not land on Spirit Energy but the next spot over instead.

I let out a sigh of relief. That was too close! I looked at what It landed on, Monster Battle.

Mr Willows motioned for me to take my seat, "I will now explain the rules of the first test, Monster Battle.

1. The time limit is two hours

2. You can use any magic including ancient magics, for example companion magic.

3. Students are allowed to harm other students but if you kill another student you will be expelled immediately.

4. Kill or capture the beasts in order to score points. Capturing a beast is worth two points but killing a beast is worth one point.

5. Bring the dead or captured beast to your designated area to score points. there will be a barrier as to not let the beasts escape.

6. Whoever has the most points at the end of the two hours will be the winner. At the end of the test we will announce the top three students and each will receive an advantage in the next test."

Everyone looked around as though we were enemies. I knew that this was a battle for honor but also for the prizes. I had to win.

Mr willows abruptly said, "Ah, I almost forgot. There will be a penalty in the next test for those who have the three lowest scores in this test."

Everyone was staring wide-eyed at Mr Willows. This test was absurd, wasn't it? They don't say that Thorn Hill is the best of the best for nothing. It looks like I might have to get a little serious.
