Kapitel 66: UNSILENT NIGHT (1)

It was a few moments after midnight when the meeting started. Everyone gathered here was in high morale to slay the enemies on the battlefield. Thus, the supposed to be war meeting turn into praise's exchanging moment.
We had everything we need. The very experience and expert soldiers of Marcog's Army and the huge number of soldiers from various support, including the so-called assassin organization named Sandyakala.
Compare to our own soldiers who had to undergo the bitterness of war in Heurencia's Continent, this Sandyakala forces were really a joke, not to mention another self-proclaimed elite-forces from some Prince which is never baptized by war in Continental scale.
Actually, I do not even care to remember the Prince's name. They were unimportant, just like a bunch of local soldiers whose gladly to be used as cannon fodder. The only important thing in this war is how many potential profit I can have. Nothing more. And nothing else matters.
Do not accused me as an egoistical person. Everyone was an egoist, thinking about himself as the most important person. We are just like that. And it's normal. It was a fool to thought that others around you were more important than you.
But Cowans's thought and feelings toward the late Vincent was an exceptional one. I will do the same if I had a kid who would end up like Vincent's fate. Well, put aside about having a son, I had not marriage either.
I dislike the local women. Nevernian's woman is the best. It was a pity no one of them ever look at my shining personality. Once they understood, they will realize how handsome I am. Then, I'll be in trouble for getting chased anywhere anytime by women who're asking me to marriage her. It was hard to become an overly handsome man. That's why I joined the military services in Marcog's Army.
Moment later, I saw Cowan's has guided the miss leading meeting right into the correct path. As expected from former high ranked official of Nevernian Royal Army, his performance in NTUC were not disappointed.
Under his guidance, we had conquered several Kingdom in Vajya. Even the western emperial, the Empire of Jung Geluh could not stand a chance against us. They fall beneath his brilliant scheme, the very exhausted civil war between heirs or royal family.
He was undefeated. Until his only son were killed in an ambushed.
I guess this old lion would rage and whoever dare to offend him will surely be doomed.
Just like this time, the entire Titan Family's had been in his checklist, targeted to be massacred.
Judging from the huge forces he had gathered, it seems like the plan to outnumbered the Titan's which had been rumoured powered by one battalion of men.
" Captain Herman.." At least, he called my name for an assignment.
" Yes, Sir"
" I had a special mission for you.."
" Yes Sir, ready, Sir."
" I want you to lead the cannon's group, station them in the farthest possible attact range to Titan's. Assault them from your position, once the others forces ready."
" Yes Sir."
" Evenhart !"
"Sir, yes, Sir!"
" Lead the muskets and archers troop to raid the Titan's, once cannon's troop finished breaking their outer defence."
" Yes, Sir!"
" Gerrit !"
"Yes, Sir!"
" Lead the mages troops to support Evenhart, make sure no counter strike that will harm us, protect everyone, including infantries who will raid later."
" Yes, Sir!"
" Now, for the rest, will be lead by me to slay the rest survivor of Titans.."
" Yes, Sir !"
" We are undefeatable, No one can stand up on us, Now... march to the front line.."
" Yes, Sir!!" Everyone is in high spirit to wage a war.
Well, I could see various reasoning here, some people were held a deep grudge toward the enemies, The Titans. Such like Cowans, King Vasta Yuda and Earl Fritz Hayes. There were also some representative from the late General Sirna's family too, whose head got beheaded and thrown off into their front yard.
Some people did not had such a grudge, but they just want to get rid of the source of their worry and fear, such like Prince Nohan, Prince Nandana and Prince Darya. There were some representatives from various nobles who choose to be in the strongest faction, us, the NTUC.
The others were just easily following the order while looting the war booty, just like me and my fellow.
Well, I can not be too greedy, since I still should share with my other fellows. But I hope there were many precious things in Titan's residence.
I was so immersed in my thought while suddenly, the silence of the night was broken up by a thunderous roar.
Kabooom..!
Everyone turned into shock. Just like me.
" What is that ?"
Then another roar echoed one after another.
Kaboom....! Kaboom...! Kaboom ...!
" What is going on ? " I shouted and come out the tent in rush.
Another strikes roared from the direction of the canon's troops.
Kaboom....! Kaboom...! Kaboom ...!
" Bastard ! What's happened ?"
I saw every meeting attendee was in rage and came out from the tent just to be confused about what happened.
Kaboom....! Kaboom...! Kaboom ...!
No one had an idea about was going on. Until a moment later, a soldier with bloody uniform come after me, " Reporting, Sir. An attack from unknown enemies, we have lost almost all of our canons. Many artillery men were hurt or die due unknown explosion.."
" Explosion ? Did such weapon really exist ? Who are they ?"
Kaboom... !
Another explosion occured and intterupted our conversation.
I could feel my body thrown of some where.
While my awareness has just come back, that soldier had passed away, fall to ground not far from me.
It was an usual hearbreaking even in the war.
" Rest in peace, soldiers..." I said while tried to close his eyes.
These was unforgiven!
Our camp turned into chaos. Our soldiers were run here and there, shouted in rage, cried, and even curse the enemy attack.
I believed, our casualties were not small.
I still did not understand how come they attack us accurately, even in the pitch black of tonight.
Did they somehow could see in the dark ?
Kaboom... !
" Arrgh.... !"
" Healer.. healer.. please help.."
" Arrgh.. it's hurt..."
Seriously, while our casuallity increase, we still could not be able to pinpoint the enemy. Where was the enemies come from ? How many ?
How can we counter attack ?
My mind went blank.
We're doomed.
