This information did not surprise me; it did when I read about it for the first time and understood what realms are. 

The celestial tower is the greatest creation of the universe; it is not just a place, that house realms. 

It is also the reason why abominations haven't taken over the universe.

It is the most powerful weapon in existence, said to be designed by the most powerful titan to ever live.

That titan had died before they could finish it. The others have finished the tower, with designs left behind by the titan; it is said it would have been even grander, if its creator had been alive.
