Li Ru seeing this feels relieved, as he thinks that this is the first step for Doing Zhuo and Lu Bu to mend their relationship. Not knowing that this would be the last time he would see Dong Zhuo, maybe even he would lose his life in the process before he even realized it.
Dong Zhuo brought Lu Bu and a small contingent of his guards, he adorned himself with expensive clothes and accessories before going to meet the Emperor at the Palace.
Dong Zhuo with Lu Bu by his side arrogantly swaggered to the Palace, there he doesn't feel suspicious because there's no guard in place. He just thought that they were dismissed, as the emperor wanted to meet him.
Lu Bu sees how arrogant Ding Zhuo from the back just sneered, seeing the guards beside him he is 100% sure can defeat them easily.
Lu Bu has sent his family to an estate he has outside of Chang'An, located at Tong Pass. Lu Lingqi wanted to join him, but Lady Yan didn't allow her. Lu Bu also rejects her, as this is a very dangerous mission he is going to embark on.
Dong Zhuo accompanied by Lu Bu and a small number of guards finally entered the palace, they headed toward a room in the east wing, which had been used by the deceased Emperor Ling as a tea room.
When Dong Zhuo enters the room, he only saw Wang Yun and Dong Cheng standing there, and there's no Emperor Xian. Dong Zhuo seeing this immediately knew that there was something wrong.
Dong Zhuo: "Old Wang and Old Dong! What are the two of you doing here? Where's Your Majesty?!"
Wang Yun: "Hmph! Dong Zhuo you beast, this is your end today! Your tyrannical reign over the Han Dynasty will end! Soldiers! Li Su!"
Li Su: "Yes Lord Wang Yun! Traitor Dong receive my spear!"
Li Su a Cavalry Commandant in Dong Zhuo's army, was recruited by Wang Yun to join the scheme. Dong Zhuo sees Li Su stabbing his spear into his body and lets out a scream, but seeing that the armor under his clothes managed to save him, he cries out for Lu Bu to save him.
Lu Bu comes close to Doing Zhuo raising his halberd and says to Dong Zhuo that this is an imperial order, after which he delivers a fatal blow to Doing Zhuo's neck, beheading him in the process.
Dong Zhuo sees and hears what Lu Bu says, but can't give a reaction as he was beheaded by Lu Bu. Before he is truly dead, a passing regret for destroying his relationship with Lu Bu passes by in his mind.
Dong Zhuo's guard seeing their Lord beheaded by Lu Bu, immediately tried to retreat as they couldn't fight Lu Bu. But they were stopped by the soldiers under Li Su's command and were killed trying to run away.
Wang Yun and Dong Cheng let out a cheer seeing that Lu Bu have killed Dong Zhuo, Wang Yun immediately informed Emperor Xian who awaited the news in his chamber by sending a letter through his page. Meanwhile, Dong Cheng and Lu Bu with Li Su order the soldiers to clean up the mess.
Lu Bu: "Master Wang Yun what should we do now? My 50,000 Bing Army stands ready for any order."
Wang Yun: "Order your army to gain control of Chang'An's gate, we can't let Dong Zhuo's army enters Chang'An as we would lose in numbers."
Lu Bu: "Alright, Li Su protect Master Wang Yun, we can't let any harm falls on him or Your Majesty."
Li Su: "Yes General! Don't worry leave everything to me!"
Dong Cheng: "General Lu Bu before you leave! Try to persuade some Generals under Dong Zhuo to join us, so that we could gather more soldiers."
Lu Bu nods his head, and he leaves the palace. Wang Yun on the other hand seeing Dong Zhuo's corpse, was satisfied by the revenge he have done. He ordered Dong Zhuo's corpse to be left on the street, Dong Cheng tried to stop him but failed.
So under Li Su's lead, the soldiers carried Dong Zhuo's corpse and left it on the streets with a lit wick placed on his navel. The wick burned for several days on the fat of the corpse.
It was said that the light from the flame could last for days. A special order was also stated that anyone who went forth to collect the body would be killed.
When Dong Zhuo's body was found, all of his generals and advisors were shocked especially Li Ru. Li Ru went on to check Chang'An's situation urgently, and when he found out that the Bing Army under Lu Bu's lead controlled the Gates on Chang'An he knew they were trapped.
Emperor Xian under Wang Yun's help, commended Lu Bu and all the people involved in eliminating Dong Zhuo. Many loyal officials were promoted, and Lu Bu was promoted to become General Of Vehement Might.
When Lu Bu's promotion was announced, many former subordinates of Dong Zhuo thought that they would be spared, knowing that they were isolated without their soldiers inside Chang'An.
Several of Dong Zhuo's hardcore loyalists, such as Li Jue, Guo Si, and Zhang Ji, go into hiding on the belief that their allegiance to him would be considered treason, relinquishing the titles they received and held before.
By this time Wang Yun had taken control of Chang'An with Lu Bu's help and ordered that except for Li Ju, Guo Si, and Zhang Ji, the rest can be spared.
Li Jue, Guo Si, and Zhang Ji hearing the order, decided to leave Chang'An in the middle of the night. When they try to escape, they are found by Li Ru who escaped the Dong Clan's mass execution.
Li Ru told them to not run away and suggested they should take this opportunity to launch a strike at Chang'an since the Liang Army was practically unscathed, standing outside Chang'An.
As Ki Ru was their master strategist under Dong Zhuo's army, they followed Li Ru's suggestion. So they escaped Chang'An together in the middle of the night, heading toward the army camp several kilometers west of Chang'An.
Lu Bu and Wang Yun don't know that Li Jue, Guo Si, and Zhang Ji managed to escape Chang'An with Li Ru and planned to attack them. Now they were having a banquet at the palace, with Emperor Xian who was only 10 years old.
Emperor Xian was sitting on the throne, accompanied by Wang Yun and Dong Cheng who was beside them. The Han Central Government power now fell on the hand of these two men, who swore to help Emperor Xian in his reign.
Due to him still just a boy, Emperor Xian left the banquet after showing his face, leaving it to Wang Yun to receive and take care of the guests, in the name of the Emperor.
Dong Cheng: "Old Wang we finally killed that traitor! Finally, his reign of terror will end, and the Han Dynasty will live on!"
Wang Yun: "Haha that's right! Now we need to help Your Majesty in governing his land and wait for him to reach adulthood to be able to lead the Emperor without Regent."
Lu Bu: "Master Wang Yun and Master Dong Cheng, the two of you laughed so happily! I have never seen the two of you laugh like this."
Wang Yun: "General Lu Bu! Without your help, our plan to eliminate traitor Dong will not succeed! Here is a toast for you, for turning back to the right path!"
Lu Bu: "Good! *gulp* ahh! If ain't for Master Wang Yun, I wouldn't know that the rumors surrounding my daughter were true! That beast disgusts me, how could he fancied his own foster granddaughter?!"
Dong Cheng: "That's True! How about this, Wang Yun we should announce Dong Zhuo's death to the world! So that General Lu Bu's name will be cleared, and for them all know that the Han Central Government is standing tall now!"
Wang Yun contemplated the idea and agree with Dong Cheng's suggestion, he will write the announcement himself and announce it tomorrow at the first Imperial Court without Dong Zhuo, then send it across the land for the Local governments to know.
After a night of partying and a banquet, the next day the Imperial Court was held, with now Wang Yun replacing Dong Zhuo's position for opening the court. Emperor Xian entered the hall, with Lu Bu behind me becoming a royal bodyguard for Emperor Xian.
Wang Yin after opening the Court, have Dong Cheng read the announcement he has drafted, declaring Dong Zhuo's death, and that Li Ru, Li Ju, Guo Si, and Zhang Ji declared as wanted criminals.
The whole court cheered when this announcement was made, clapping all the way and saying that Heaven hadn't abandoned the Han Dynasty.
Next Dong Cheng announced all the Governors, Administrators, and Prefect to come to Chang'An or send their representatives, to swear their allegiance to Emperor Xian, if not the Imperial Army would be sent to their doorstep.
Some of the officials stopped cheering for a second, as they themselves knew that right now the land was in chaos, and there was no more Local government they had raised their banners while disguising that they were fighting in the name of Han.
Dong Cheng finished the announcement, and with that messengers began to spread this around the land. When everyone heard the news of Doing Zhuo's death, many were surprised by this as they didn't expect that he would be killed by Lu Bu.
While this news was brewing on the outside, Lu Bu and Wang Yun suddenly received the news that Li Ru, Li Jue, Guo Si, and Zhang Ji are leading the Liang Army numbering about 80,000 men to siege Chang'An.
This news shocked the entire Chang'An, as they didn't expect Li Ru, Li Jue, Guo Si, and Zhang Ji to have escaped Chang'An who had been on lockdown after Dong Zhuo's death.
Wang Yun and Lu Bu have 100,000 men in total, which was bigger than Li Ru's army. Wang Yun sent Hu Zhen and Li Su to lead an army of 35,000 to intercept the incoming enemies, to ambush them on the way to Chang'An.
Li Su and Hu Zhen lead the army and enter a battle with the Liang Army, but on the first battle, Li Su is killed by Li Jue, which makes Hu Zhen switch sides and join Li Ru's side bloating their army to 115,000 men. When the news of Hu Zhen's defection reaches Chang'An, Lu Bu leads the remaining men under him to fight the oncoming enemies outside of Chang'An.
