Kapitel 48: Library of Mages (8)

I waited in front of Emily's dormitory, wearing a black suit that I just bought. Emily's father organized a gala event for today, which had a strict dress code. Thankfully Emily told me what to buy, so now I looked like a rich second generation. But Emily didn't look like a kid dressed in expensive clothes.

Going down the stairs, she was like a goddess descending from heaven. Black silky hair melted into her pitch-black dress. Angelic face and devilish body, a combination that could make any man crazy, and made my heart beat twice as fast.

When she reached the bottom, my head was empty of any thoughts, there was only her. She held up her hand and cautiously as if she was the most precious treasure in the world, I grasped it. Full of smiles, we unhurriedly walked towards the exit of the University campus. There a limousine was waiting for us, with Kamal beside it.

Similarly, he was wearing a suit. His arrogant demeanor was still there, and the suite only made it worse. "Who is that?" he asked while looking at me.

"My plus one," Emily responded. "Don't even try, he is coming with me."

"Doesn't matter, I was only told to bring you there. Whit him or not as long as you are there it won't matter. At least to me." He opened the door and let us in, after closing after me, he went to the front and sat beside the driver.

Sitting in the expensive leather seats, I watched the scenery outside the window change. The drive took an hour, we drove through a massive gate and arrived in front of a huge villa. No, at this point it looked more like a castle. A butler opened the car door and with a slight bow waited for the two of us to exit the car.

"It's good to see you again, Miss Emily. Your father is awaiting you." The Butler said. His course voice fit perfectly his elderly appearance and the butler demeanor. "He is now in the ballroom attending to guests. Let me accompany you and… your friend there."

"Thank you, Norman."

It didn't seem like Norman the butler liked me. It was nothing more than a feeling, if he was really acting, then he is a master at it. Entering the villa my eyes flew from side to side absorbing the exquisite paintings, sculptures, vases, everything looked grand and expansive. Classical music chimed in the background as we walked through the corridors, some guests were talking here and there.

Approaching the ballroom, the music got louder, and the chatter of people became more prevalent. When Norman opened the double door, music bursting from the musicians playing on the stage and about a hundred people, all dressed up in fancy clothes and shining jewelry.

"It was custom made." "Did you hear about the war in Lastran?" "How was…" chatter coming from every corner, smell of food and alcohol, and bright clothing, everything screamed Elite! It was truly something not many could witness.

"What now?" I asked.

Emily scanned the ballroom with her eyes like a hawk. "I need to find my father. Talk to him. And hopefully, it will all go well. At least he won't say or do anything with so many witnesses. With a bit of luck, we will leave this place never needing to come back."

"That's something. Tell me how he looks?"

"Tall, well build, garish hair on the side, glasses, wears a ring on his pinkie." With the general description, I could search, but it didn't take long for it to abruptly stop as someone's face entered my eyes. "Isn't that Hannah?"

"It is. You didn't know? She is the last descendant of the Quinn family."

"Last descendant? What do you mean?"

"It was around seventeen years ago, her whole family was killed, 59 people. With her being the only exception. Officially it is said that some crazy guy slaughtered them, unofficially it was their rival family. Requiem family. Both families had Magma Elemental Essence and were trying to devour each other for ages."

"Magma elemental essence? I know that the children can inherit the Elemental essence attribute from their parents, but what happens with those that don't? And what about the children they don't do Inc…"

"NO! Why did your mind go there? No. They find people that awakened with Magma Elemental essence and marry them, it gives the best chance without… you know what."

"What about your family? Do you also have some mutated elemental essence?"

"No. 'They' focus on the strong. The selected few that are considered the strongest or with most future potential are forced to marry people from the outside that similarly have tremendous talents. Other than that they also adopt orphans, form young indoctrinate them, and if needed force the disloyal to marry them tying them up to the family."

"Wait doesn't that m…"

"They want me to marry one of them? Yes. That's one more reason for you to be here. There. I found him, let's go." Emily spotted her father and started walking. Following her eyes, I found a tall man almost as tall as me, but with a broad muscular build. His sharp gaze and wide smile made him look like a villain, even his vibe felt terrible.

As we approached and Emily entered his sight the smile on his face widened, only for it to be brought back down when he saw me.
